The Medical Lab Assistant I will function to provide administrative and technical support to phlebotomist, lab technicians, and management staff in the lab.

Daily assignments may include but are not limited to:
• Function as an assistant to laboratory staff in action(s) assigned
• Handle specimens that include blood, urine, bodily fluids, tissues, stool, and other material for biological and chemical analysis

Job Summary and Qualifications
The Clinical Lab Assistant works under the supervision of the Lab Director and the lab supervisors. He/she processes specimens for the section, performs routine laboratory tests for diagnosis and treatment of disease, sets up instruments and performs basic equipment maintenance. Assists with ensuring all regulatory lab standards are met through following policies and procedures of the Hospital and accrediting regulatory agencies.
What you will do in this role:
+ Processes specimens for the section; prepares blood smears and body fluid slides, centrifuges specimens, streaks microbiology plates, prepares specimens for transport to reference labs.
+ Understands laboratory methods, demonstrates knowledge of pathological processes with correlation of disease states and test results. Independently performs specimen processing and testing to include moderate complexity testing.
+ Sets up instruments and performs basic equipment maintenance.
+ Performs basic quality control as instructed, collects quality assurance data. Performs clerical duties such as answering telephones, communicating verified test results by phone, typing procedures, performing data entry/retrieval as may be required, filing paperwork and slides, faxing documents, and assisting with inventory of supplies.
+ May perform phlebotomy, point-of-care and waived testing as designated.
+ Performs work in accordance with laboratory regulatory standards.
What qualifications you will need:
+ Education: High School graduate or GED equivalent from an accredited program.
+ Phlebotomy certification preferred.Graduate of Phlebotomy Course required; additional 6 months experience preferred. If phlebotomy program has not been completed, then must have one-year experience in a medical laboratory required or college course work in biological/chemical sciences. Six months computer keyboarding or equivalent preferred.

**Job Summary and Qualifications**
Role Summary:Performs various functions relative to the Laboratory testing, to include but not limited to: clerical and computer functions; specimen accessioning and processing. Represents the organization in the inpatient or outpatient setting serving as the liaison between the client (Patient, physicians, nursing, etc.) and the laboratory departments. Performs a variety of phlebotomy techniques and assisting with other specimen collections, as required.
**What qualifications you will need:**

Job Summary:
The Clinical Lab Assistant is responsible for assisting laboratory staff in routine moderate complexity testing used to diagnose and treat disease.
Here's what you'll do when you join us:
- Obtain lab specimens and place lab orders.
- Process all specimen types to prepare for testing.
- Ensure that testing results are correctly reported.
- Provide phlebotomy training.
- Complete annual competency.
- Enter orders and collection information into LIS system and subsystems. Provide results over the phone as necessary.
If you have these qualifications, we'd love to chat:
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Completion of a phlebotomy training course or phlebotomy experience in a clinical laboratory setting is desired.
- Experience in a healthcare related field preferred.
- Good interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to follow and adhere to Grand Itaca's policies, visit, mission and values.
- Maintain reliable and consistent attendance.
