Preferred Education: Graduate of an accredited Nursing program required; Bachelor’s degree in Nursing
preferred.
Required Licenses/Certifications: APS Perinatal Safety Modules must be completed within 3 months of hire for positions in Labor and Delivery/Maternal Child Health.

The Clinical Nurse Specialist demonstrates an advanced level of professional competence in a specialized field of nursing. The primary roles of the Clinical Nurse Specialist include: practitioner, educator, leader, consultant and researcher. Within each role the Clinical Nurse Specialist uses problem solving strategies and the nursing process to improve outcomes. S/he works collaboratively with the staff and managers to develop criteria for patient care, assess health needs of patients, and evaluate outcomes of nursing interventions
- Demonstrates advanced capabilities and knowledge in assessment, diagnoses, treatment and evaluation of an identified population or high risk group to facilitate optimal outcomes.
- Participates in the development, implementation and evaluation of evidence based practice standards for patient care.
- Works collaboratively with appropriate resources to manage complex patient care.
- Serves as a clinical resource for the nursing staff, health care providers and the community.
- Utilizing research and the quality improvement process to assure quality and value in patient outcomes.
- Applies educational concepts and skills with patient, family, nursing staff and other health care providers to improve outcomes.
- Facilitates problem solving and decision making to influence the development, implementation and evaluation of patient, unit, department and organizational goals.

Required qualifications:
- Master's Degree in Nursing with clinical focus from an accredited school of nursing.
- Upon hire: Washington Registered Nurse License
- Upon hire: National Provider BLS - American Heart Association
- 3 years of Current nursing experience in related clinical area.
Preferred qualifications:
- Upon hire: Certification in specialty
