A caregiver in this position works a day/night rotation from 7:00AM - 7:30PM or 7:00PM - 7:30AM, including rotating weekends and holidays.

• Provide or assist with patient care under the supervision of an RN. Patient care may include vital signs, weight, assisting patients with personal care and activities of daily living, patient transfers/transport, pulse oximetry, point of care testing, dressing changes, applying external monitoring devices and removing urinary Foley catheter.

• Report abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental and emotional conditions to an RN.

• Assist with keeping patients' rooms clean and orderly.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• High School Diploma or GED

Mercy Hospital's 7M Medical Telemetry Unit cares for a diverse population of patients ranging from ages 18 to 100+ years old. This unit cares for patients who have peg tubes, foley catheters, central lines, and tracheostomies, are post-heart catheterization, require wound care, have drug and alcohol addictions, or have mental illnesses and are waiting for placement at a psychiatric facility. Minimal bedside procedures are done on this unit, but caregivers occasionally see fluid aspiration from joints and incision/drainage of small skin abscesses. As a Patient Care Nursing Assistant on the team, you will coordinate with fellow caregivers to create a welcoming, healing and warm environment for patients in this unit. This position offers the ability to pursue educational advancement, higher positions and skills development courses offered by Cleveland Clinic. Mercy Hospital's 8M Medical Oncology & Hospice Unit focuses on meeting a patient's physical, psychological, social and spiritual needs to improve their quality of life and support their loved ones. 8M caregivers provide care to oncology and hospice patients with cancer diagnoses, chest pain, shortness of breath, COPD, and abdominal pain. Additionally, this unit provides patients with end-of-life care.
