About the role
The Cloud Administrator is an IT generalist with a primary focus on Microsoft Azure administration alongside hands-on end-user support across Windows 11 and macOS environments. This role manages Azure resources, endpoint security, and MDM, and thrives in a dynamic environment that may require context switching across multiple technology stacks throughout the day. The role partners closely with security and IT operations to ensure availability, performance, and compliance across cloud and endpoint estates.
Responsibilities
- Azure tenancy and governance
- Manage Azure subscriptions, resource groups, tagging, RBAC, budgets, and policies to control cost and enforce governance).
- Administer Microsoft Entra ID (users, groups, licensing, access assignments) and align Conditional Access with security requirements.
- Azure infrastructure operations
- Provision, configure, and maintain Azure compute, storage, and networking (VMs, scale sets, storage accounts, VNets, NSGs, VPN/ExpressRoute) with a focus on availability and performance.
- Implement backup, disaster recovery, and monitoring for Azure resources; troubleshoot and optimize for performance and cost.
- Automate repeatable tasks using PowerShell and Azure CLI; leverage ARM/Bicep where appropriate.
- Endpoint management and MDM
- Manage Windows 11 and macOS devices through Microsoft Intune (or equivalent MDM), including enrollment, configuration profiles, application deployment, updates, and compliance policies.
- Integrate Microsoft Defender for Endpoint and Security Settings Management for unified security posture across enrolled and unenrolled devices where applicable.
- Endpoint security and compliance
- Enforce device security baselines (encryption such as BitLocker/FileVault, firewall, Gatekeeper, AV/EDR, patching), and ensure devices meet compliance for Conditional Access.
- Partner with security teams to implement and maintain endpoint hardening, alerting, and remediation workflows.
- Onsite desktop support
- Provide hands-on support for Windows 11 and macOS, including provisioning, identity/access, network connectivity, and core productivity apps; resolve incidents with minimal disruption.
- Collaboration and continuous improvement
- Work cross-functionally on cloud and endpoint initiatives; document standards and runbooks.
- Proactively monitor, analyze, and optimize cloud costs and endpoint performance; recommend improvements and modernizations.
- 3+ years administering Azure or similar cloud platforms with hands-on experience in Azure compute, storage, networking, identity, and governance.
- Strong experience with Microsoft Intune (or comparable MDM) managing Windows 11 and macOS endpoints, including compliance/Conditional Access, software updates, and app deployment.
- Proficiency with PowerShell and Azure CLI for automation and administration tasks.
- Solid understanding of endpoint security controls: encryption, EDR/AV, firewall, patching, vulnerability remediation, and security baselines.
- Strong troubleshooting skills across layers (identity, network, OS, application) with experience supporting end users onsite in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with Microsoft Defender for Endpoint, Security Settings Management, and integration with Intune or Microsoft 365 Defender.

The base salary range for this full-time position in the US is $110k - $120k annually + bonuses + benefits. Redapt salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Serve as Senior Cloud Administrator for a classified Intelligence Community Managed Service Provider (MSP) contract that delivers network services to over 400 Industry Partner Subscriber locations. This position delivers System Administration leadership and responsibilities for WWT's MSP infrastructure and service offerings supporting the Government Customer and the Industry Partner locations. Service offerings include cloud-based SECRET and SCI managed desktop offerings delivered by WWT and our partners. The Cloud Administrator will support the day-to-day administrative tasks for on-prem infrastructures and cloud services. Duties and responsibilities involve the administration of this environment, ensuring optimal user experience.
The position will help form the foundation of a new team that will be responsible for supporting multiple clients and customer locations. The candidate is expected to be a solid performer with excellent communication (written & oral), interpersonal skills, and experience in high-performing teams.
