Job Description

Serves as an Information Assurance and Cloud computing SME with regards to Certification and Accreditation (C&A) and a broad coverage of the application of the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Risk Management Framework (RMF) standards and guidance as outlined in the NIST Special Publication(s) (SP) 800-53 and 800-37 (Current versions).
**Primary Duties and Responsibilities**
+ Google Cloud Platform (GCP) Service Management
+ The CCS shall maintain current certification as a Certified Cloud Security Professional. Possesses the ability to work independently with substantial cloud computing security knowledge.
+ The assessor must have the essential skillsets to identify, manage and resolve cloud computing security risk and implement "best practices" as applied within a cloud environment (across all of the different deployment and service models, and derivatives).
**Other Duties and Responsibilities**
+ Investigates computer and information security incidents to determine extent of compromise to national security information and automated information systems.
+ Defines security objectives and system-level performance requirements.
+ Researches and stays abreast of tools, techniques, countermeasures, and trends in computer network vulnerabilities.
+ Configures and validates secure systems, tests security products/systems to detect computer and information security weaknesses.
+ Maintains the computer and information security incident, damage and threat assessment programs.
+ Responsible for the formal Security Test and Evaluation (ST&E) required by each government accrediting authority through pre-test preparations, participation in the tests, analysis of the results and preparation of required reports.
+ Involved in the periodic conduct of a review of each system's audits and monitors corrective actions until all actions are closed.
+ Designs, develops, or recommends integrated system solutions ensuring proprietary/confidential data and systems are protected.
+ Involved in the establishment of strict program control processes to ensure mitigation of risks and supports obtaining certification and
+ accreditation of systems.
+ Reviews processes and security protocols and makes recommendations for increased cyber security protection.
**Minimum Qualifications**
+ Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related field.
+ The CCS must be well versed in FedRAMP assessment methodology of security and privacy controls deployed in cloud information systems to include six (6) domain areas. The six domains include:
+ Architectural Concepts & Design Requirements
+ Cloud Data Security
+ Cloud Platform & Infrastructure Security
+ Cloud Application Security
+ Operations
+ Legal & Compliance Minimum Qualifications:
+ Five (5) years of relevant C&A experience; Risk Management Framework (RMF) and NIST C&A experience
+ DOD IA experience
+ Experience in assessing IA Controls and conducting C&A reviews for large, complex Information systems
**Security Clearance**
+ Active Secret level clearance
+ Sensitivity Level: IT-I Critical Sensitive
**Certifications:**
+ Computing Environment: IAT II or IAT III (Security+ or similar)

DPP is seeking a Cloud Engineer for an opportunity in Columbia, SC. Work arrangement:
  • Onsite is highly preferred, but open to remote
  • W2 position; 6 months
  • Candidates who are foreign nationals must have resided in the US for at least three (3) of the last five (5) years prior to assignment to the client’s applicable government contract. 
Position summary:
  • A typical day for a Cloud Enginee r involves a mix of building, supporting, automating, and optimizing cloud infrastructure to ensure secure, scalable, and efficient operations.
  • The day often begins with monitoring cloud environments using tools like Azure Monitor or AWS CloudWatch to check for performance issues, outages, or anomalies.
  • The Engineer may then use Terraform or ARM templates to provision or update infrastructure, ensuring consistency and compliance with organizational standards.
  • They frequently work in Linux-based environments, using Bash or Python scripts to automate routine tasks, manage configurations, or troubleshoot system-level issues.
  • Throughout the day, they may collaborate with DevOps, security, and application teams to integrate new services, deploy updates, or optimize resource usage.
  • While not required, experience with Kubernetes, Ansible, or cloud security tools may come into play when supporting containerized workloads or implementing secure configurations.
  • The role is hands-on and dynamic, requiring both technical depth and adaptability to evolving cloud technologies. 
Required technologies:
  • Full stack software engineering development experience for Java/Java II ecosystems and JavaScript frameworks.
  • Hands=on experience AWS Cloud or Azure an dlift-and-shift or re-platforming projects.
  • AWS or Microsoft Azure, hands-on experience with core services such as virtual machines, networking, storage, and identity management in AWS or Azure is essential for managing and deploying cloud infrastructure.
  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC) – Terraform or ARM Templates, proficiency in using Terraform or Azure Resource Manager (ARM) templates to automate the provisioning and configuration of cloud resources is critical for scalability and consistency.
  • Integrate with third-party APIs and vendor platforms, ensuring secure and scalable communication.
  • Experience in containerization (Docker) and orchestration (ECS, EKS, Kubernetes).
  • Familiarity with CI/CD tools like Jenkins, GitHub, AWS CodePipeline, etc. 
  • Linux/Unix Operating Systems, strong experience with Linux-based systems is required for managing cloud-hosted environments, scripting, and troubleshooting.
  • Cloud Monitoring and Management Tools – Azure Monitor, AWS CloudWatch, or similar, familiarity with tools used to monitor performance, availability, and security of cloud environments is necessary for maintaining operational health.
  • Understanding security controls, encryption, and experience working in regulated environments (e.g., HIPAA, RedRAMP, FISMA)
  • Agile Business Analyst experience 
Nice to have:
  • Cloud Security Tools and Practices
  • Understanding of cloud-native security tools (e.g., Azure Security Center, AWS IAM policies) and best practices for securing cloud infrastructure is a strong asset, especially in regulated environments. 
Minimum required work experience:
  • 6 years of technical experience with systems analysis, design, and/or programming experience or other job-related IT experience. 
Job/class description:
  • Make recommendations to management to adjust system performance parameters. Delegate problem resolution to other team members and conduct follow-up.
  • Provide enhancement recommendations based on long-term IT organization strategy. Analyze new/revised processes/change requests from the maintainer. Collaborate with various internal groups and external vendors to ensure all specifications are met and problems are resolved as they arise.
  • Participate in the development of custom integration solutions. Review and research issues reported from external/internal customers. Evaluate interrelationships in projects to determine how changes/installations of one program will affect others.
  • Participate in work sessions and walkthroughs for quality and production implementations, releases, data conversion projects and/or disaster recovery exercises. Attend implementation meetings to determine impact to system availability and assignment of team resources for these implementations.
  • Work closely with team members to understand business requirements that drive the analysis and design of quality technical solutions. Act as an internal consultant, advocate, mentor, and change agent. Answer questions and/or provide training for the Production Support team on the current system.
  • Perform installations, configuration, analysis, scheduling and tuning on complex projects. Ensure Production and Test environments are up and functioning properly. Perform corrective actions whenever possible to fix applications that end abnormally. 
Required knowledge, skills, and abilities:
  • Comprehends data storage techniques, database philosophy, database management, and complex programming techniques.
  • In-depth understanding of the requirements for maintaining production systems and the effect of program changes.
  • Understands how to use structured techniques in new program development.
  • Comprehensive understanding of development, quality assurance, and integration methodologies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to work well under pressure and as part of a team.
  • Pays attention to detail.
  • In-depth knowledge of relevant operating systems, programming languages, and/or development/productivity tools and their usage in the company.
Required education/equivalencies:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or other job-related degree;
  • OR, Associates degree in CS, IT, or other job-related degree plus 2 years of work-related experience;
  • OR, 4 years job-related work experience (total 10 years without a degree)

Job Description:

The Splunk Cloud Engineer will play a critical role within the agency to enhance the security posture by leading the planning and execution of migration projects to move client data and processes to Splunk platforms. The applicant will develop a tailored migration strategies through collaboration with stakeholders to understand their requirements to ensure seamless integration of new systems with existing infrastructure and processes.

Minimum Requirements:

  • At least five (5) Years - Hands-on technical cybersecurity experience

  • At least five (5) Years - Direct Splunk engineering/administration experience

  • Active Secret Clearance REQUIRED, eligible to be upgraded to TS/SCI

  • Bachelor's degree in information security or related field and/or equivalent combination of experience.

  • Certifications:

  • Must meet DoD 8140/8570 IAT Level II/III certifications' requirements at the time of hire by having one of the following certifications. (CCNA/CCNP Security, CySA +, GICSP, GSEC, Security+, SSSP, CSSP, CASP CE, CISA, CISSP (or Associate), GCED or GCIH

  • Must have one or more Splunk Certifications:

  • Splunk Enterprise Admin

  • Splunk Enterprise Certified Architect

  • Splunk Certified Developer

Basic Qualifications:

  • Experience in the design, build, support and maintenance of a Splunk infrastructure in a highly available configuration

  • Proven experience as a Splunk Engineer or similar role, with specific experience in SIEM migrations into a Splunk cloud environment

  • Strong understanding of Splunk architecture, including data ingestion, indexing, search, and visualization

  • Experience conducting pre-migration assessments to identify potential issues and develop mitigation strategies

  • Prior experience customizing and configuring Splunk environments according to client needs, including developing scripts and apps as necessary

  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python or Bash for Splunk app and dashboard development

  • Experience with data transformation and normalization to ensure compatibility with Splunk

  • Ability to Standardize Splunk forwarder deployment, configuration and maintenance in Linux and Windows platforms

  • Troubleshoot Splunk indexers, search heads and forwarder problems

  • Familiarity with networking principles and protocols

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders

  • Experience analyzing log files from network traffic logs, firewall logs, IDS logs, DNS logs and ESS to ID possible security threats e.g., determine rogue systems, infected systems, unauthorized system changes and unauthorized hardware connections
