**The Work**
This position is with the Platform Engineering, DevSecOps and Analysis Team (DAT) in the Lockheed Martin Rotary and Mission Systems (RMS) Combat Systems Integration Engineering (CSIE) organization. In this role, you will work in the Cloud Software Engineer to design, develop, integrate, test, and deploy transformative capabilities focused on reducing costs and improving performance. You will also work with the Pipeline Site Reliability Team (SRT) and the Forge Development Environment (FDE)/Government Cloud to support enhancing the business critical Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) software pipeline used for the AEGIS combat system products.
A candidate for this position will work in a dynamic and collaborative Agile environment supporting the full lifecycle of complex state-of-the-art systems that are deployed across the globe. The candidate will use modern tools and engineering practices to develop new capabilities and support continuing improvements. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Job Description
The Cloud Software Engineer develops, maintains, and enhances complex and diverse software Big-Data Cloud systems based upon documented requirements. Directly contributes to all stages of back-end processing analyzing and indexing. Provides expertise in Cloud Computing, Hadoop Eco-System including implementing Java applications, Distributed Computing, Information Retrieval, and Object Oriented Design. Works individually or as part of a team. Reviews and tests software components for adherence to the design requirements and documents test results. Resolves software problem reports. Utilizes software development and software design methodologies appropriate to the development environment. Provides specific input to the software components of system design to include hardware/software trade-offs, software reuse, use of Commercial Off-the-shelf (COTS)/Government Off-the-shelf (GOTS) in place of new development, and requirements analysis and synthesis from system level to individual software components.
The Level 3 Cloud Software Engineer (SWE) shall possess the following capabilities:
-Provide in-depth knowledge of Information Retrieval; assisting the software development team in designing, developing and testing Cloud Information Retrieval.
-Implement complex workflows that manage Cloud MapReduce analytics.
-Implement code that interacts with Cloud Distributed Coordination Frameworks.
-Oversee one or more software development tasks and ensure the work is completed in accordance with the constraints of the software development process being used on any particular project.
-Make recommendations for improving documentation and software development process standards.
-Serve as subject matter expert for Cloud Computing and corresponding technologies including Hadoop -- assisting the software development team in designing, developing and testing Cloud Computing Systems.
-Debug problems with Cloud Based Distributed Computing Frameworks.
-Manage multi-node Cloud based installation.
-Delegate programming and testing responsibilities to one or more teams and monitor their performance.
-Select the software development process in coordination with the customer and system engineering.
-Recommend new technologies and processes for complex cloud software projects.
-Ensure quality control of all developed and modified software.
-Architect solutions to complex cloud software engineering problems such as efficiently processing and retrieving large amounts of data
-Make recommendations for improving documentation and software development process standards.
Required:
Current TS/SCI with polygraph.
Twelve (12) years of experience software engineering experience on programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity, two (2) years of which must be in programs utilizing Big-Data Cloud technologies and/or Distributed Computing. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline from an accredited college or university. Four (4) years of additional cloud software engineering experience on projects with similar software processes may be substituted for a bachelor's degree.

Northrop Grumman Defense Systems (NGDS) is seeking a **Cloud Software Developer** to maintain and enhance capabilities in support of DAF CLOUDworks at the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) in **Rome, NY** . DAF CLOUDworks is a rapidly growing secure cloud program that encompasses 10+ teams supporting information security, infrastructure development, and cloud migration. Along with operations and sustainment, DAF CLOUDworks focuses on modifying and enhancing offerings to implement new requirements, enhance functionality, increase efficiency, or lower operating/deployment. Successful candidates should have a track record as an effective communicator and problem solver who is able to develop and maintain good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
**Basic Qualifications:**
+ One of the following:
+ A bachelor's degree with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience
+ A master's degree with 0 years of experience
+ A Secret Clearance with the ability to obtain a Top Secret clearance with Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI)
+ Strong interpersonal, problem-solving, organizational, and multi-tasking skills
+ Able to obtain IAT Level II certification per DoD such as CompTIA Security+ within 60 days of start date.
+ Proficiency in programming languages (e.g., Python, Java, JavaScript, Go)

+ Knowledge of version control systems (e.g., Git)
+ Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
**Preferred Qualifications:**
+ An active Top Secret clearance with Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI)
+ CompTIA Security+ certification or IAT Level II equivalent per DoD
+ Fundamental cloud certifications such as:
+ AWS Platform (>= Cloud Practitioner)
+ Azure Platform (>= Azure Fundamentals)
+ Familiarity leveraging git for code management (ArgoCD, Flux, Gitlab)

Primary Level Salary Range: $81,300.00 - $121,900.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
