YOUR ROLE:
The Media Device Specialist is a critical member of the camera and production team, responsible for safeguarding digital assets, ensuring image quality, and supporting the workflow from capture to post-production. This role combines the responsibilities of a Digital Imaging Technician (DIT) with camera department support, including select 2nd Assistant Camera (2nd AC) duties such as handling lenses, cameras, and providing overall technical assistance.
In addition to technical expertise, the Media Device Specialist is expected to maintain a solution-oriented and positive attitude in a fast-paced environment demonstrating strong soft skills, fostering effective collaboration across the production team.
Given the sensitive nature of the industry, this role requires the highest level of professionalism, privacy, and discretion in handling all materials, equipment, and interactions on set.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Digital Imaging & Media Management
- Manage and organize assets using Silverstack to ensure data integrity and workflow efficiency.
- Lead video cart builds and maintain all on-set digital imaging equipment.
- Monitor video signals on set to ensure image integrity.
- Transcode dailies, prepare camera reports, and maintain structured file systems.
- Apply LUTs, perform basic color correction, and provide calibrated monitoring environments.
- Use Capture One and Adobe Photoshop Lightroom for still capture adjustments and look creation.
- Collaborate with the Director of Photography (DP), Director, and post-production teams to maintain visual consistency.
- Complete required production reports and talent paperwork.
- Collaborate with production and in-office teams to support media workflows - including participating in weekly equipment meetings, assisting with media ingestion on off-shoot days, and coordinating hard drive preparation / pick up and drop offs
- Assist with changing lenses, filters, and camera builds safely and efficiently.
- Maintain cleanliness of lenses, sensors, and other camera equipment.
- Assist with organizing, prep, and tracking of gear to ensure readiness for each setup.
- Operate the slate/clapboard when required.
- Support the 1st AC and camera team during prep, shoot, and wrap.
- Proactively troubleshoot and communicate technical issues with footage, gear, or workflow.
- Maintain inventory of camera/digital equipment in partnership with vendors.
- Conduct routine maintenance checks and oversee repairs or updates.

- 4-5 years of experience as a DIT, Media Manager, or Camera Assistant.
- Proficiency with Silverstack, Capture One, Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom, DaVinci Resolve, and Adobe Premiere.

The Role
BuzzFeed is looking for a Digital Imaging Technician (DIT) to work with Post Production for efficient media backup and transfer. What You'll Do
- Collaborate with the Post Production Management & DP to establish a data management plan, including media backup and transfer procedures
- Conduct testing to determine optimal camera settings and workflows
- Ingest (using ingest software), organize, and back up footage ensuring data integrity
- Tag footage with appropriate metadata
- Ensure quality control of footage and media being ingested
- Generate proxies and dailies per specification for daily delivery
- Create DIT Log/Reports per specification
- Collect all on-set materials such as script notes, BTS footage, stills, offload reports, LUTs, etc for upload and delivery
- Ensure two copies of all media are constantly maintained and offloaded to backup servers
- Diagnose and resolve technical issues quickly and pose solutions
- Assist with Post Equipment Pickup/Drop Offs or Runs, delivering to producers and editors from the office
- Work on-set of filming location and/or BuzzFeed Office in LA
- Deep understanding of digital camera systems, image processing, and data management
- 3+ years experience DIT or equivalent media management in a professional environment
- Ability to quickly diagnose and resolve technical issues
- Advanced knowledge of Mac OS and Adobe Creative Cloud apps including Premiere Pro (preferred NLE), Media Encoder, & DaVinci Resolve
- Extensive experience utilizing ingest software like Offshoot or Shotput Pro
- Meticulous attention to detail for data management and quality control
- Must be able to effectively communicate between DP, camera team, and Post Production
- Familiarity working with common video codecs, formats & timecode formats
- Ability to adapt to changing workflows and new technologies
- Must be able to effectively deliver on the expected deadlines
- Experience with delivering for HD short dramas and vertical stories a plus

In this hands-on role, you’ll provide on-site technical service in a customer-focused, business-critical environment, ensuring peak performance and maximum uptime for Canon devices. This is a daytime, customer-facing role that requires professionalism, reliability, and technical skill.
Your Impact
In this position, you’ll be accountable for:
- Providing on-site maintenance, diagnostics, and repair of copiers, printers, and MFPs in line with Canon’s Service and Parts Standards.
- Identifying and reporting product failure trends and serviceability issues to management, with accurate documentation.
- Maintaining up-to-date technical information, Field Service Reports, Expense Reports, and Canon property.
- Meeting customer needs by delivering efficient, responsive, and accurate maintenance in the field, shop, or on-site.
- Delivering high levels of customer satisfaction through clear communication and dependable support.
- Ensuring machines perform reliably and supporting your team in reaching branch/district performance targets.
About You: The Skills & Expertise You Bring
Please note: this is a customer-facing role, and requires compliance with customer policies and protocols, which may include COVID-19 vaccination and other measures relating to COVID-19.
Do you meet these requirements?
- Hold a High School diploma or equivalent experience required.
- Possess a basic understanding of internet environments and the ability to successfully complete the 120-day introductory period and the PDIF (Printing and Digital Imaging Foundations) new-hire class.
- Ability to travel (valid driver's license and acceptable driving record necessary).
- Required to take all necessary steps to obtain security and/or other clearances required by customers to enter the customers' premises.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds and be active more than 50 percent of the time (walking, standing, stooping/kneeling).
In accordance with applicable law, we are providing the anticipated rate for this role: $21.50 - 31.74 hourly.
This role is eligible for a transportation allowance.
