Job Description

Columbus Technical College is seeking an individual to serve as a part time Adjunct Instructor for the Commercial Truck Driving Program. Under general supervision, the instructor will provide instruction to students in the classroom and lab settings, preparing syllabi and lesson plans. This position is part-time/exempt.

This position will require the following physical abilities:

  1. Sit, stand, walk, bend, push, and pull for (3) to (4) continuous hours, or longer at times in various indoor and outdoor working conditions
  2. Must be able to get underneath trucks and trailers to demonstrate part locations to students
  3. Must be able to walk along beside the truck during range maneuvers.

Please note the following information regarding this position:

  1. May require teaching on or off campus throughout our service delivery area (Muscogee County, Stewart County, Quitman County, Chattahoochee County, Harris County, and Talbot County)
  2. May require travel
  3. Will require teaching morning, afternoon, evening, or weekend classes

Responsibilities:

  • Providing instruction to students in the classroom and lab settings;
  • Prepare syllabi and lesson plans;
  • Demonstrate the use of appropriate teaching techniques, appropriate testing and grading procedures; 
  • Effective use of oral and written communications skills and knowledge of current in-field procedures;
  • Follow approved course syllabus;
  • Attends/completes all professional development training;
  • Evaluate student progress in attaining goals and objectives;
  • Maintain qualifications for employment as described by Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG) policy manual and accreditation standards;
  • Follow rules and regulations as described by TCSG and CTC;
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • State of Georgia Class A Commercial Driver's License
  • Documented three (3) years paid, full-time truck driving experience

**7-year Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) as supporting documentation of Georgia Class A CDL license will be required for those interviewed.**

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Documented Driver/trainer experience
  • Post-secondary teaching experience
  • Distance education teaching/learning experience

Salary/Benefits:

 Pay rate is commensurate with education and experience, no benefits.

The Local Truck Delivery Driver is responsible for delivering and picking up Snider customer tires and wheels while operating a Truck with a capacity up to 26,000 pounds. What You'll Do on a Typical Day:
• Operate up to a 26-foot truck and deliver commercial tires/wheels class 5 through 8, as well as other items to customers.
• Must maintain a safe and clean driving record.
• Responsible for executing client delivery schedules, proper loading and unloading, and obtaining signed paperwork in order to provide Snider branch, etc.
• Responsible for the cleanliness, maintenance, and equipment inventory levels on a truck, as well as, on person.
• Assist supervisor with planning routes to ensure that deliveries are completed in the most efficient manner.
• Review orders before and after delivery to ensure that orders are complete, the changes are correct, and the customer is satisfied.
• Effectively communicate any traffic violations, accidents, breakdowns, or delays in route to management and to customers.
• Accurately identify and enter tire casing information into electronic device using current Michelin mobile app (MRT Mobile Solutions), as well as properly barcode client's tires and wheels and provide an email or printed copy of tire pick-up upon completion of work order.
• When available, assist with the scrap out analysis process for Snider customers.
• Interact with Snider Fleet Solutions customers and personnel on a daily basis.
• Conduct pre and post trip inspections to ensure that all mechanical systems are operating properly.
• Follow all safety rules, wear proper PPE, and demonstrate safety conscious mindset.
• Demonstrate excellent attendance, show up to work on time and in the correct uniform.

This position is based at the company's corporate office. The majority of this position will consist of normal office tasks and interaction amongst peers and Snider branches. Overnight and out of market travel to other Snider locations and customers is more than 25%. When traveling to Snider locations, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts/equipment, fumes, or airborne particles, and the noise level is usually moderate to high.

This position requires a CDL-A.

**$15,000 RETENTION BONUS FOR ELIGIBLE NEW HIRES!

Schedule: Monday to Saturday with two days off (Saturdays required).

Dispatch times are between 12:00 AM & 5:00 AM.

Pay: Our Delivery Drivers start at $3.95/hour! Increases up to 38.20/hour after 6 months!

Main Responsibilities:

  • Safely drive trucks to meet scheduled customer deliveries.
  • Unload products using equipment or by hand, placing them in designated storage areas.
  • Verify delivery accuracy and collect signatures from customers.
  • Handle collections and payments when necessary.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to enhance client satisfaction.
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip equipment inspections.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull 20 to 80+ lbs repeatedly during each shift.
  • Comfortable working and driving in various weather conditions with frequent stops (10+ per shift).

What You Bring:

  • Must be at least 21 years old.
  • Valid CDL Class A issued by your state, with necessary endorsements and DOT qualifications.
  • Minimum six months of commercial driving experience or three months in the food and/or beverage delivery industry.
  • Ability to operate a manual transmission preferred.
  • Must be able to read and communicate in English efficiently.

Compensation will depend on experience and other relevant factors. The expected pay range for this role is $3 .95 to 38.20 per hour with overtime compensation available.
