Title: Commodity Buyer

Job Location: Gainesville, GA

We are seeking a skilled and strategic Commodity Buyer to join our Global Purchasing team. The ideal candidate will leverage market insights and supplier relationships to develop cost-savings initiatives, mitigate supply chain risks, and meet organizational objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

As Commodity Buyer for IMS Gear, you will play a pivotal part in the overall responsibility for the strategic sourcing of assigned commodities to support procurement requirements through source selection, supplier relationships, cost reduction, negotiation, delivery and quality performance.

  • Leading Annual price negotiations and ensuring annual price negotiation target for the assigned commodities.
  • Perform cost and value analysis in cooperation with other departments, centers, and product teams.
  • Responsible for the issuance of RFQ's to identify and implement localization opportunities.
  • Draft and negotiate contracts with suppliers, including terms of delivery, payment terms, delivery conditions, and warranties. Ensure contracts and agreements comply with company policies and legal requirements.
  • Regular reporting of required KPIs, to monitor objectives with data and timing.
  • Generate reports on procurement activities, including expenditure, supplier performance, and inventory levels.
  • Close cooperation with internal interfaces such as project and sales management, engineering and the production plants.
  • Supports the production departments with supplier complaints and warranties.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers, ensuring ongoing collaboration and performance.
  • Market and product research for assigned commodities to identify new suppliers in Americas / NAFTA.
  • implementation of the material group and supplier strategy for the assigned material groups in NAFTA.
  • Identify and mitigate risks related to supply chain disruptions, such as supplier insolvency or geopolitical issues.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Engineering, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Previous experience in procurement, purchasing, or supply chain management, ideally in the automotive industry.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • Automotive purchasing experience strongly preferred
  • Familiarity with ERP systems and procurement software, SAP preferred.
  • Knowledge of commodity markets, global supply chains, and contract management.
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to confidently present complex information to senior executives.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and rapport building capabilities
  • Self-starter with the ability to adapt interpersonal styles and techniques to influence at all levels of the organization and external service providers and vendors.
  • Customer-focused attitude, with a high level of professionalism and discretion.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality, establish trust and credibility, and act with integrity.
