The Impact You Will Make:

Reporting directly to the Director of Purchasing and Sourcing, the Commodity Manager will maintain relationships with current suppliers and qualify potential new sources. This role will travel to Aalberts sites and supplier facilities both locally and internally, specific to Southeast Asia.


A Typical Day:

  • Negotiate or renew supplier agreements to purchase goods and services for all locations.
  • Analyze spend data and use in the development of strategic initiatives and sourcing strategies for assigned commodities.
  • Compile data for decision making, present for approval and lead/support project execution.
  • Manage supplier changes and resourcing activities, which include initiating, coordinating, buyer/supplier follow-up, and align cross-functional input.
  • Collaborate with the international purchasing team in Ningbo, China and cross-functional areas at Aalberts Integrated Piping Systems Americas.
  • Participate in the procurement teams’ development of long term and global commodity strategies that support overall cost savings targets.
  • Represent Purchasing in multi-functional teams locally and globally.
  • Ability to travel nationally and internationally as needed.


Your Expertise:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain or Business
  • 2+ years’ experience in Purchasing or Supply Chain managing international suppliers.
  • Proven ability to analyze and present data using AI, Power BI & Excel.
  • Ability to prioritize and complete projects with accuracy in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to discover and execute creative solutions for complex problems using methodical and analytical approaches.
  • Eagerness to identify opportunities and capitalize on them.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills


Targeted Attributes:

  • Experience with Asian suppliers, examples include China, Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, Malaysia, and India.
  • CPIM/CSCP certification
  • Experience with plumbing industry specific to valves and fittings

Your Location:

This position is hybrid, 3 days in our Charlotte Headquartered office. Travel as needed locally and internationally to suppliers and Aalberts sites.

Summary:
The commodity manager is responsible to develop and execute the purchasing strategy for the assigned commodity, taking into consideration site and division objectives to ensure alignment with overall business goals.

Commodity Manager
**Job Description:**
The Commodity Manager is part of Arrow Intelligent Solutions (AIS) and will be responsible for managing and optimizing our procurement strategy for designated computing technology commodities such as **data storage, memory, processing, networking, and related technologies** . This role involves analyzing market trends, negotiating with suppliers, and ensuring the efficient supply of materials at the best possible cost. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in supply chain management, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to build effective supplier relationships.
**What You Will Be Doing:**
+ **Procurement Strategy:** Develop and implement strategies for the procurement of designated commodities to meet company objectives.
+ **Market Analysis:** Monitor and analyze market trends, supply chain risks, and pricing fluctuations to make informed procurement decisions.
+ **Supplier Management:** Establish and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, negotiate contracts, and ensure compliance with terms and conditions.
+ **Cost Optimization:** Identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements within the supply chain.
+ **Inventory Management:** Collaborate with inventory management teams to ensure the timely and cost-effective delivery of materials.
+ **Risk Management:** Identify and mitigate risks related to commodity supply, including developing contingency plans.
+ **Reporting and Analysis** : Preparing regular reports on procurement activities, supplier performance, cost savings, and market trends; using data to inform decision-making and strategy adjustments
+ **Performance Metrics:** Track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to commodity procurement.
+ **Cross-functional Collaboration:** Work closely with other departments, including production, finance, and quality assurance, to align procurement strategies with overall business goals.

The Commodity Manager is responsible for the Commodity Strategy that will be or will have been established for assigned commodities in the Branch and will oversee a group of strategic suppliers that constitute the Safran Cabin supply base.
The Commodity Manager defines, deploys and governs, in full alignment with the Branch Strategic Purchasing vision & strategy, the strategic supplier base primarily referenced 'Preferred or Essential' according to the applicable Supplier Status management Group procedures, working closely with the needs of the Purchasing managers from the Branch Operating Sites. The Commodity Manager settles and concludes the Negotiation Terms, Performance and Long Term Agreement on behalf of the Branch Legal entities. The Commodity Manager builds and leads the Suppliers Performance Review and Commodity Strategy Reviews and reports on a regular basis in the dedicated Strategic Purchasing Committee. In the frame of the mission entrusted to him, the Commodity Manager reports directly to the Branch Strategic Purchasing VP.
Responsible for the Commodity Strategy
- For a defined list of commodities, establishes the Commodity strategy with the full involvement of the other Operating Sites of the Branch, as applicable.
- Defines the sourcing and supplier base strategy (Make or Buy, consolidation, reduction, development of new source).
- Reports, communicates on a regular basis the strategy progress and outputs at the Branch and Divisions leadership levels.
- Consolidates all data related to the commodity from the Sites. Stays abreast of all innovations and technical evolutions with the view to integrate into a supplier management and contractual relationship.
- Builds the planning, KPIs assessment related to the strategy.
- Ensures follow-up of the strategy commodity implementation within the site level.
- For commodities, is the referent externally and internally
Consolidation of data related to the common Strategic Suppliers
- Drives market analysis, outlooks and competition analysis, Turn-Over evolution and dependency ratios from the different sites and for the Branch.
- Operational Performance at each Site:
- On Time Deliveries (SOTD including VLD)
- Quality of the deliveries (SNCR)
- Consolidates the annual Purchasing Performance achieved related to their commodity and builds the visibility on 3 out years.
- Leads with the support of Supplier Development team the risks analysis - including follow-up of the mitigation plan.
**Job Requirements**
Education: Bachelor's degree
Experience: At least 8 years in the position of Strategic Buyer or Manager, other Commodity Manager role or related function
Computer Skills:
- Advance knowledge Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Other Skills:
- Strong knowledge of the Purchasing Process and Supplier Quality Assurance
- Strong knowledge of the technologies and process of the suppliers in their commodities.
- Negotiation skills and capability to adapt

Management of the Suppliers Contractual Relationship
- Prepares and processes Global RFQ: includes the needs and volumes of the concerned sites in the commodity.
- Negotiates the LTA and defines the acceptable Terms and Conditions applicable with support from Branch Contracts.
- Prepares and gets the approval for global sourcing decisions.
- Gets the contract signed by the applicable Legal entities.
- Checks the provisions of the contract are applied and respected by the Sites.
- Twice per year, consolidates the forecast volumes and checks compliance with the allocated volumes.
- Leads an annual capacity survey towards the suppliers on at least a 12 months forecast with the consolidated volumes forecast for all Branch Sites.
- Triggers requests on quality/capacity/process audits and dedicated countermeasures.
- Following escalation processes in place, supports projects/tactical buyers when issues arise with the suppliers.
- Manages the non-performance penalties application with the different sites.
- Communicates and reports monthly to the Branch Strategic Purchasing VP.
Monitoring of the Suppliers Performance
- Reviews non-conformance reports written against his/her suppliers and relays information to them.
- Organizes, defines frequency and prepares the Supplier Performance Review Meeting. In this context, ensures coordination with the sites, Purchasing Quality, Supplier Development Team, Engineering and Program when relevant.
