**What you will be doing:** You'll be responsible for the career technical training instruction per approved curricula. They will provide training and basic guidance and direction to help students achieve their technical training goals.
**Essential functions:**
+ Provide students with direction, instruction, and assistance in designated areas of instruction.
+ Motivate and counsel students in areas of behavior, training, personal problems, or study habits.
+ Develop and prepare lessons in accordance with approved curriculum guidelines, recommend curricula changes and supplemental materials.
+ Review and audit all assigned areas regularly for contractual compliance and effectiveness of delivery of services to students. Prepare related reports.
+ Maintain organized, clean, and safe training environment.
+ Participate in student assessment panels, perform required documentation and evaluation using CIS (Center Information System) and other documentation systems.
**Education and Experience Requirements:**
+ Associate degree preferred.
+ Certification from a professional organization of culinary arts. Extensive chef experience may be considered in lieu of education.
+ Three (3) years experience and current ServSafe certification.
+ A valid driver license with an acceptable driving record.

This position requires the ability to tolerate frequent temperature shifts (frozen to extreme heat), ability to drive a vehicle, and work both indoors and outdoors. The work environment is usually either a commercial kitchen or a classroom.
1. Planning and teaching classes as assigned and as outlined in the course descriptions and course syllabi.
2. Supervising the study and learning activities of students assigned.
3. Submitting requests through the department head, program coordinator, or lead teacher for equipment, supplies, textbooks, and other instructional aids.
4. Evaluating the academic progress of students.
5. Demonstrating knowledge of services, regulations, and procedures as defined in the Adjunct Faculty Handbook.
6. Submitting course grades and performing other administrative duties as required.
7. Scheduling two office hours. For extenuating circumstances in which office hours cannot be scheduled, the adjunct faculty member must submit a written plan to the Dean describing how students can access the instructor. Office hours are not paid during the summer session.
Required Qualifications:
• Associates degree or higher in Culinary Arts, Hospitality Management, or related field, or equivalent industry experience.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in the culinary industry, including experience in kitchen management and food preparation.
• Teaching experience at the college level preferred, but not required.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Ability to withstand 10 plus hours on your feet
• Current ServSafe certification (or equivalent food safety certification) preferred.
• Passion for teaching and mentoring students pursuing careers in the culinary arts.

The Culinary Arts Program at Kingsborough Community College seeks Adjunct Lecturers with a history of significant industry experience. The Culinary Arts Program is recognized for its leadership in Culinary Arts study and workforce training in the New York Metropolitan region. Kingsborough Community College is located in Manhattan Beach, Brooklyn, adjacent to Sheepshead Bay with a diverse student population who attend day, evening and weekend classes.
Duties include:
Teach courses in the diverse segments of the Culinary Arts curriculum including, but not limited to culinary arts, pastry arts, food and beverage management, artisanal bread baking, food and beverage cost control, sanitation and dining room management.
Day, evening and weekend teaching may be required.
