BEHAVIORAL HEALTH, SUBSTANCE USE DISORDER SERVICES
The Substance Use Disorder Services (SUDS) Program leads efforts in our community to prevent and reduce the impact of substance use disorders by developing, administering, and implementing evidence-based approaches to youth prevention, treatment, and recovery programs in El Dorado County.
THE OPPORTUNITY
The selected candidate will have the opportunity to:

Conduct screening and assessments in the office and in the field to provide an approach to SUDS treatment based upon multiple industry-based standards.

Formulate case management and treatment plan strategies with timelines to help clients achieve their goals; create Treatment Authorization Requests for approval in accordance with state and county requirements.

Provide direct counseling, either individually or within groups, for assigned clients based upon individual treatment plan goals and objectives; document all pertinent information including, but not limited to, assessment summaries and progress notes or reports, intake/orientation documents, and group and individual session notes.

Provide referrals for clients who may require treatment by outside resources; consult with other providers to ensure proper placement and methods of treatment; may conduct ongoing case management for clients who have been referred to other providers.

Actively participate in regularly scheduled staff meetings and training sessions which provide continuing education units required to maintain counseling certifications and/or which contribute to the employees’ professional development.

Conduct various community assessment activities to determine health related knowledge deficits, resource availability, and community level strengths.

IDEAL CANDIDATE
El Dorado County is seeking two Advanced Level Substance Use Treatment Counselors to join our team in Placerville and South Lake Tahoe. The ideal candidate will have experience working with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorder clients and those that support co-occurring clients such as mental health clinicians, primary care providers, managed care systems and other health workers in a counseling center, wellness center, community setting or criminal justice setting. Experience with serving both adults and youth/adolescents is desirable.
Our ideal candidate is an energetic and compassionate counselor and care coordinator, is comfortable with advocating for the best care for clients and has excellent written/verbal communication skills. This person will possess collaboration skills and be able to participate with multi-disciplinary teams to help clients reach their treatment goals. This person should possess high organization/administrative skills with great time management. This individual is highly relational and flexible, able to handle confidential information while being organized and able to meet documentation deadlines.

Possession of a Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in addiction studies/disorders/counseling, psychology, or closely related field;

Position Summary
Responsible for planning, developing, coordinating, supporting, and monitoring medical education programs for residents and fellows in graduate medical education (GME). Serves as coordinator for educational experiences for GME learners and maintains a successful educational program that represents Long Beach Medical Center/Miller Children's & Women's Hospital.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the Job
- Interfaces with program directors (PDs) and teaching faculty to support quality educational programs for professional staff and ensures compliance with national accreditation standards, hospital policies, and educational program guidelines. Provides support as needed for program directors (curriculum, correspondence, training materials, etc.) according to the departmental/programmatic needs.
- Connects with learners to support their educational needs as well as acts as a liaison with medical education administration. Provides support as needed to learners (check-in and registration materials, correspondence, rotation or on-call schedules, meal cards, etc.) according to the departmental needs.
- Provides and coordinates support of logistical services (publicity, presentations, attendance verification, minutes, correspondence, evaluations, summary, and analysis) for medical education programs and activities.
- Under minimal supervision, plans, develops, and monitors events held at Long Beach Medical Center/Miller Children's and Women's Hospital to ensure effective and successful programs, while positively representing MemorialCare. Oversees all aspects of events (meeting room reservation, catering requests, and AV support) according to the department needs.
- Maintains faculty documentation and provides support as needed (CVs, credentials, disclosures, honoraria) according to department needs, Monitors program requirements to ensure accreditation compliance (ACCME, ACGME, CPME, AAMC, ABFM, ABP, PHARMA, etc.) according to department needs.
- Processes financial requests as needed (check requests, reimbursements, travel authorization) and, when possible, looks for ways to reduce or maintain costs and exercise fiscal responsibility in order to remain budget neutral.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications/Work Experience:
- 2+ years of experience in medical education or healthcare field preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and an ability to maintain a high level of professionalism and confidentially.

BEHAVIORAL HEALTH, SUBSTANCE USE DISORDER SERVICES
The Substance Use Disorder Services (SUDS) Program leads efforts in our community to prevent and reduce the impact of substance use disorders by developing, administering, and implementing evidence-based approaches to youth prevention, treatment, and recovery programs in El Dorado County.
THE OPPORTUNITY
The selected candidate will have the opportunity to :
- Conduct screening and assessments in the office and in the field to provide an approach to SUDS treatment based upon multiple industry-based standards.
- Formulate case management and treatment plan strategies with timelines to help clients achieve their goals; create Treatment Authorization Requests for approval in accordance with state and county requirements.
- Provide direct counseling, either individually or within groups, for assigned clients based upon individual treatment plan goals and objectives; document all pertinent information including, but not limited to, assessment summaries and progress notes or reports, intake/orientation documents, and group and individual session notes.
- Provide referrals for clients who may require treatment by outside resources; consult with other providers to ensure proper placement and methods of treatment; may conduct ongoing case management for clients who have been referred to other providers.
- Actively participate in regularly scheduled staff meetings and training sessions which provide continuing education units required to maintain counseling certifications and/or which contribute to the employees' professional development.
- Conduct various community assessment activities to determine health related knowledge deficits, resource availability, and community level strengths.
- Select, develop, and create educational resources and materials.
- Actively participate in interdisciplinary planning teams, general staff meetings, employee development opportunities, intra- and extra-county networking activities, and community oriented stakeholder groups.
- Coordinate and conduct program evaluation activities.
IDEAL CANDIDATE
El Dorado County is seeking two Advanced Level Substance Use Treatment Counselors to join our team in Placerville and South Lake Tahoe. The ideal candidate will have experience working with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorder clients and those that support co-occurring clients such as mental health clinicians, primary care providers, managed care systems and other health workers in a counseling center, wellness center, community setting or criminal justice setting. Experience with serving both adults and youth/adolescents is desirable.
Our ideal candidate is an energetic and compassionate counselor and care coordinator, is comfortable with advocating for the best care for clients and has excellent written/verbal communication skills. This person will possess collaboration skills and be able to participate with multi-disciplinary teams to help clients reach their treatment goals. This person should possess high organization/administrative skills with great time management. This individual is highly relational and flexible, able to handle confidential information while being organized and able to meet documentation deadlines.
Human Resources will assess your application to determine if you are minimally qualified using the following qualifications:
Possession of a Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in addiction studies/disorders/counseling, psychology, or closely related field;
AND Two (2) years of experience providing professional support or counseling services in a substance use disorder treatment program.
Additional Requirements:
- Possession of, or ability to obtain and maintain, a valid California or Nevada Driver's License and a satisfactory driving record.
- Per California Code, Health and Safety Code, Section 11833(b)(1): Positions assigned to the Substance Use Disorder Services program require proof of certification as a substance use disorder counselor by, or registration with, one of the California Department of Health Care Services approved certifying organizations, which are: California Association for Alcohol and Drug Educators, California Association of DUI Treatment Programs, or California Consortium of Addiction Programs and Professionals.

Description
The Health Education Assistant assists with clerical duties and patient education duties as required.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Performs assigned clerical duties in the clinic
- Monitors the Blood Pressure Desk
- Coordinates a wide range of health education services, including recruiting members, establishing referral system, providing scheduling and logistical support to promote the well-being of patients and the community
- Assists in distributing written Health Education materials
- May be required to work sometimes at satellite NEMS sites and/or at weekend events
- Provides assistance in the educating clients on the scope of services available at NEMS
- Participates in community outreach programs as needed
- Provides group class or one-on-one health education services to members and the general public
- Counsels patients on a variety of subjects such as diabetes, hypertension, asthma, smoking cessation, substance abuse, teen health, Hepatitis B, preventive cancer screening and immunization, etc.
- Serves as a resource to patients and provides them with the best information available
- Collects, tabulates, and analyzes program data, and prepares monthly services reports
- Provides phone call services and schedules appointments for patients for the events and services such as classes and support groups
- Performs other job duties as required by manager/supervisor
