POSITION SUMMARY
Alterra Mountain Company is seeking a Compensation Specialist to support the day-to-day administration of the company's global compensation strategies, assist with data analysis, and ensure pay practices remain compliant, equitable, and competitive. This role will be responsible for a wide variety of administrative and organizational tasks, which includes high level support of the Compensation Team. The position requires a pro-active, self-starter with the ability to accurately and confidentially handle sensitive information who can thrive in a fast-paced environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
General Responsibilities
- Support ad hoc job analysis through reviewing job descriptions, gathering internal and external sources of data, and applying industry knowledge to assist with compensation recommendations
- Maintain and update compensation records in the HR system (Workday), including integrity of job profiles, job titles, salary ranges, etc.
- Assist with reviewing job descriptions to ensure proper classification and alignment with Alterra's Career Framework
- Respond to routine compensation-related inquiries from employees and managers
- Participate in annual salary surveys and benchmarking studies to maintain the company's competitive market position
- Support the administration of compensation programs, including the annual merit process and incentive program(s)
- Ensure minimum wage compliance by coordinating with destination HR leads to prepare and audit minimum wage files
- Provide administrative support for compensation projects and initiatives
- Contribute to compensation practices and programs that are externally competitive, internally equitable, and aligned with the company's compensation philosophy and business priorities
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and provincial employment laws and regulations in the U.S. and Canada
- Other duties as assigned
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 1+ year of professional experience in Compensation, Human Resources, or similarly applicable field
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., formulas, pivot tables)
- Workday experience preferred
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Demonstrates interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations and documentation
- Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally across all levels of the organization
- Ability to work collaboratively to support shared goals
- Desire to learn and seek out excel functionality whether used on a one-time or continual basis
- Basic understanding of federal, state, and provincial employment laws and regulations for the U.S. and Canada

The range listed is just one component of Alterra Mtn Co Shared Services Inc.'s total compensation package for employees. The Compensation Specialist plays a key role in carrying out the strategy and vision of Polaris' compensation philosophy and supporting our evolving business needs. Responsibilities include analysis, consultation, and administration of broad-based compensation programs for US and international locations. The position supports annual compensation processes including compensation planning and market pricing, in addition to special projects throughout the year.

**JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:**
Compensation Consultation:
+ Establish relationships within HR & the business and leverage resources to analyze and implement practical compensation solutions aligned to the strategic priorities of the business, as well as provide consultation on industry best practices
+ Monitor trends in the competitive market and ensure both design and pay level opportunities allow the attraction and retention of high performers/key talent
+ Provide advice and support to HR Business Partners on questions of policy and interpretation of plans
+ Maintain strong pulse check on client groups' needs, anticipate issues and provide suggestions proactively
Support Annual Compensation Processes:
+ Support the execution of annual compensation planning (merit, bonus and equity) and market pricing processes

The starting pay range for Minnesota is $74,050 to $90,000 per year. The Senior Compensation Specialist plays a key role in the design and administration of compensation programs for every level of the organization – from frontline employees to executives. This role ensures alignment between pay practices and business strategy to support talent attraction, retention, internal equity, and market competitiveness. Success in this role requires strong analytical capabilities, as well as a comprehensive understanding of compensation practices, market dynamics, and compliance implications, particularly within a public company environment.
This is a salaried exempt position, reporting to the HR Manager – Analytics, Systems & Rewards, working closely with the Chief Human Resources Officer on Executive Compensation matters.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with HR Business Partners, Talent Acquisition, and Finance to provide compensation guidance, market data analysis, and modeling.

The Operations Compensation Specialist plays a crucial role in administering and enhancing the company’s short-term incentive programs for Operations, including Special Concepts. This position is instrumental in streamlining bonus processes, focusing on automation, effective communication, compliance, and improvements to the incentive plans. The Specialist also provides vital support to Operators regarding their bonus and compensation queries and requests, all while managing various HR and Compensation projects with a degree of independence.
Job Responsibilities:
- Administers and improves the Operations bonus programs, ensuring accurate and timely bonus payments for programs such as Quarterly Bonus and Special Concept Bonus plans.
- Conducts comprehensive compensation benchmarking and financial impact analysis, making recommendations to enhance bonus programs.
- Responds to Operator inquiries related to bonus programs and performs administrative tasks related to bonus systems, while reviewing bonus exceptions from various partners.
- Enhances Operations compensation processes to ensure compliance and collaborates with stakeholders like Legal, Finance, and the Operations Team on plan improvements.
- Generates regular and ad-hoc reports and dashboards to monitor the effectiveness of compensation programs, compensation metrics, and bonus distributions.
- Engages in various Compensation projects and system enhancements, including bonus forecasting models, Workday System upgrades, new compensation structures, and communication rollout plans.

Qualifications - External
Your Background and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree required; CCP certification or equivalent preferred.
- A minimum of three years of relevant work experience focusing on HR and Compensation, preferably within a retail or hospitality operations environment.
- Successful completion of initial and periodic training is required.
- Obtaining a valid Food Handler's Card within 30 days of employment is mandatory for this position.
Pay Range: P2: $72,500 - $101,500 per year. Individual pay is determined based on various factors, including work location and experience.

- Develop compensation proposals and recommendations, including salary, bonus, long-term incentives, and other compensation components for executives and C-Suite leaders
- Maintain executive compensation benchmarks to support efficient and accurate proposals
- Develop materials connected to compensation programs, including participant guides for short and long-term incentives
- Support the design and maintenance of variable executive compensation programs
- Partner closely with Equity Administration to support equity grants and vesting cycles
- Support development of materials filed in the Compensation Discussion & Analysis section of annual company proxy reports
- Support development of Compensation Committee presentation materials
- Collaborate with Regional Total Rewards leaders and functional and regional HR leaders
- Collaborate with leaders in other global functions including Legal, Finance, Accounting, Sustainability, etc.
- Partner with consultants and other vendors, as needed, to execute key projects and initiatives
- Stay informed about industry trends and regulatory changes to provide thought leadership in program recommendations and ensure compliance with relevant requirements
- Drive continuous improvement to facilitate efficient processes, and impactful and engaging solutions
- Bachelor's degree in human resources, business, or related technical field.
- 5+ years of experience in a Compensation & Benefits role, including 3+ years in an Executive Compensation role.
- Must be authorized to work in the US for any employer.
- Deep understanding of compensation and benefits philosophy, including benchmarking, compensation proposal creation, salary surveys, and short and long-term incentive design.
- Excellent critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

The Workers Compensation Specialist is responsible for managing the end-to-end lifecycle of workers' compensation claims-from initial incident reporting through resolution and closure. This role ensures compliance with state and federal regulations, facilitates communication between stakeholders, and supports risk mitigation strategies.
Claims Management
Oversee all phases of workers' compensation claims including intake, investigation, documentation, and resolution.
Ensure timely and accurate reporting of workplace injuries using internal systems and external platforms (e.g., RiskTrack).
Coordinate with third-party administrators, healthcare providers, and legal counsel to manage claims effectively.
Compliance & Documentation
Maintain compliance with OSHA, ADA, FMLA, HIPAA, and state-specific workers' compensation laws.
Prepare and submit required reports (e.g., OSHA logs, First Report of Injury, Public Self Insurers reports).
Audit claims data and vendor performance to ensure accuracy and cost control.
Stakeholder Communication
