**JOB SUMMARY**
The Product Environmental Compliance Engineer works in the Engineering Services department to support all teams in the collection, review, and analysis of material data for use in regulatory or customer-specific Environmental Compliance reporting. Other functions include material content analysis, generation of certificates of compliance for common regulations such as RoHS (Reduction of Hazardous Substance) or REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorization, and Restriction of Chemicals), maintenance of supporting data and documentation, and providing related technical guidance to all AES organizational functions.
**KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES**
+ Retrieve data from the company's Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) system for general part information, bills-of-material (BOMs), manufacturers' names & part numbers, and other key attributes about products and components.
+ Research and collect material data for components and substances on product parts lists from manufacturer websites and third-party data services.
+ Evaluate material data against regulatory, industry standard, or client-specific lists of substances for use in company declarations or certifications of conformance.
+ Be familiar with, and maintain currency on, major product environmental regulation impacting Astronics AES products, components, and materials.
+ Assist in the resolution or escalation of Environmental Compliance issues and communicate proactively with cross-functional stakeholders.
+ Assist in the maintenance of the company's Industry Standards library.
+ Provide support, under the direction of a senior Product Environmental Compliance Engineer, for company-led strategic initiatives and team-driven continuous process improvement projects.
+ Assist in drafting and updating procedures or guidelines, for review by Product Environmental Compliance Engineer.
+ Maintain reports, metrics, data, or other deliverables as directed.
**MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS**
**Education/Experience:**
+ Bachelor's Degree Engineering, Environmental, Chemistry, Metallurgy, or technical field. Or, a suitable combination of work experience and education may be substituted for degree requirement.
+ Demonstrates familiarity ~ Typically 2+ years of direct experience in the key duties and responsibilities of the position.
**Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:**
+ Demonstrated ability to conduct internet research to retrieve relevant data such as part numbers, manufacturer information, material content, and environmental compliance declarations.
+ Demonstrated ability to manage and organize large data sets and files.
+ Ability to read and understand material declaration documents.
+ Demonstrated time management skills with the ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks within a set timeframe.
+ Demonstrated systematic problem-solving skills and an understanding of how to analyze data.
+ Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral) and the ability to work effectively with cross-functional groups.
+ Strong skills with Microsoft Excel (or similar software).
**Desirable Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:**
+ Knowledge in chemistry or materials science.
+ Ability to understand engineering drawings.
+ Familiarity with BOMs or PLM systems.
+ Familiarity with third party database services such as Accuris or Silicon Experts.

**EMPLOYMENT ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS**

**Salary range for this position is $** **72,476** **- $* **109,119** **per year** . Mid-point for the range is 90,933.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering.
- Preferred knowledge of UL, electrical hardware components; VFD, Circuit breakers, fuses, power supplies, motor controllers, disconnect and reading electrical schematics is a must.
- Knowledge of specifications, codes, and standards in commercial HVAC and datacenter industries, including safety, electromagnetic compatibility, low voltage, and environmental directives (RoHS, REACH, WEEE).
- Familiarity with regulatory agency requirements such as FCC, CE, and NEC.
- Minimum of 5 years of related experience.
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
- Electro-mechanical aptitude and hands-on experience with components, piping systems, pumps, motors, controls, or other industrial equipment.
- Clear verbal and written communication skills for internal and external customers.
- Proficiency with MS Office 365 for creating tables, charts, and data input.
- Ability to travel approximately 15% annually.
- Effective performance of assignments with minimal supervision.
- Office environment with minimal lifting of up to thirty pounds.

We are looking for a Regulatory Compliance Engineer to join our Pittsburgh location.
Your Responsibilities:
The ideal candidate will work to develop and implement policies, manuals, and procedures for various site, local, state, and federal regulatory activities to ensure compliance with radiological and environmental regulations in an industrial manufacturing setting.
Your Challenge:
- Assist with implementing policies for local, state and federal regulatory activities to ensure compliance with mandated regulations.
- Support various site departments including Operations in their individual process improvement activities with review of Environmental and/or radiological regulatory impact.
- Prepare and submit detailed reports to regulatory agencies in support of the following programs: hazardous and residual waste management, air emission permitting, National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System, industrial sewage, hazardous material inventories, and others.
- Develop and implement training programs for various applications to meet regulatory requirements.
- Participate in planning and execution of site remediation activities including development of plans, contracts, specifications, work instructions.
- Support license and permit amendments and renewals, and work on all sections of the site's environmental, health, and radiation safety manuals and associated instructions.
- May interface with external regulatory agency representatives from organizations such as the NRC, PADEP, county and local municipalities as well as internal customers
- Support the site radiation protection program, including assisting with program audits, shipment and receipt of radioactive materials.
- Assist with preparation of hazardous waste and material manifests, and conduct shipments in accordance with USDOT regulations.
- Must be sole US citizen and be able to obtain and maintain DOD security clearance
- BS in Environmental Science, Engineering, Physics, or related discipline from an accredited institution or recognized equivalent work/field experience in radiological and/or environmental controls.
- Minimum of two (2) years' experience working in a field related to environmental compliance and reporting.
- One (1) to two (2) years' experience working with radiological requirements and related health effects is also preferred.
- Proficiency with standard Microsoft Office software is required.
