**Role Definition**
Supports product regulatory compliance programs for Cat Technology including Automation & Autonomy systems through various activities that assist in managing compliance risk and ensuring compliance with applicable product regulatory requirements for intended markets.

As the **Senior Manager, Compliance Engineering** you will lead the Compliance Engineering function, ensuring all products meet applicable regulatory and industry standards for safety, electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), wireless performance, and electrical compliance. **What you will do**
+ Lead and develop a high-performing Compliance Engineering team, including EMC, Safety, and Wireless engineers.

The Role
The Compliance Engineering & Technology (CET) team at Block supports the detection and reporting of suspicious financial crimes activity across Cash App, Square, and Afterpay. We work globally with partners in business, engineering, counsel, and product to provide a safe user experience for our customers while minimizing and potentially eliminating bad activity on our platform.
You will report to the CET - Data Engineering Manager. As a Data Engineer you will handle everything from data architecture and modeling to data pipeline tooling and dashboarding. You will enable other compliance teams to make impactful business decisions by laying the foundation of our large and unique datasets that span across multiple products.
You Will
- Work with engineering and product teams to design, develop, and manage scalable ETL pipelines to unblock new product launches.
- Create brand new and optimize existing data models and schemas on top of Block data including but not limited to eventing, customer level, and process level data.
- Build monitoring to assess the health of the team's infrastructure as well as data quality and lineage.
- Participate in on-call rotation, monitor daily execution, diagnose and log issues, and fix business critical pipelines to ensure SLAs are met with internal stakeholders
- Work with non-technical partners and product teams to understand their needs, translate business requirements into applicable data requirements, and come up with automated end-to-end solutions.
- Standardize business and product metric definitions in curated and optimized datasets, and develop data dictionaries and other related documentation.
- Teach and encourage others to self-serve by building tools that make it simpler and faster for them to do so.
- A minimum of 8 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree; or 6 years and a Master's degree; or equivalent experience.

- Excellent grasp of risk management and technology compliance
- Proven experience in conducting engineering / system compliance reviews
- Strong knowledge of industry specific regulations, compliance frameworks, and standards including but not limited to: SOX, DMA, DSA, MRC, SSAE 16- SOC 1&2, GDPR
- Experience with engineering / in-house systems, system flow related to internal metrics or quote to cash or trust and safety will be a plus

- Provides oversight and guidance to sustain compliance with Regulatory, Corporate and Site processes for Engineering documentation, which includes all change controls, validation, commissioning, deviation, SOPs, capital project files, and drawings, and engineering turn over packages.
- Works with Document Control to ensure accurately maintained controlled filing storage systems for current and historical technical documentation & records.
- Develops and maintains appropriate change control policies and/or procedures to be applied to all Engineering documentation regardless of source, location, or media type.
- Controls lifecycle documents within scope of department such as CRs, SOPs, forms, technical reports, Validation Protocols and Reports, and drawings.
- Works with Engineering, Maintenance and Operations to maintain an accurate technical documentation library reflecting the facility equipment and systems is maintained in the Electronic Engineering Document Management System (EEDMS).
- Coordinate with the Engineering Document Manager to ensure consistent and efficient control, storage, copying and retrieval of all Engineering documentation.
- Develops, classifies, and reviews record retention schedules for Engineering Documentation. Periodically reviews and updates retention schedules to reflect changes in legal and/or operational requirements.
- Maintains database tracking system for Engineering Documentation that manages change control and quality related requirements.
- Audits Engineering SOP's, document types, and training records to ensure compliance.
- Participates in all inspections and internal / external audits by facilitating document access as assigned.
- Coordinates and tracks all department EHS and Quality actions.
- Works with Maintenance and Reliability to verify vendor documentation is maintained in accordance with Good Documentation Practices
- Manages, monitors and expedites actions related to technical documentation change control

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILL REQUIRED:
- Bachelor's degree in a technical field preferred; associate degree accepted with 3-5 years industry experience.
- 3-5 years' experience in technical writing, QA/QC documentation background.
- Able to read and understand the various types of technical documentation
- Experience with Change Control and Quality Documentation processes
- Familiarity with document and drawing management processes.
- Experience with Engineering related systems such as CMMS
- Ability to work within standard operating procedures with moderate supervision.
- Experience in an engineering environment a plus.

**The Job:**
The Stanley Black & Decker (SBD) Global Trade Compliance team is comprised of professionals who ensure adherence to global import and export regulations while improving cash flow, increasing supply chain speed, and reducing risk. We deploy a comprehensive global trade compliance program that adapts to changing regulatory environment and business requirements.
The Senior Trade Compliance Analyst combines deep technical knowledge of manufacturing processes with an expert understanding of US Customs regulations. Ideally, the role leverages engineering skills to accurately interpret product designs, bills of materials, and manufacturing changes to ensure country of origin compliance. The ideal candidate has both engineering and trade compliance experience and will work closely with cross-functional teams to optimize global sourcing and manufacturing strategies as it relates to Trade Compliance. + Ensure compliance with all applicable international trade laws and regulations, including customs regulations that relate to various US Trade Remedies/Tariffs (Sec. 301, ADD/CVD, etc.)
+ Review and interpret engineering drawings, product specifications, and process flows to support country of origin determinations.
+ Prepare detailed technical documentation and origin narratives for compliance files, internal stakeholders, and CBP audits/inquiries.
+ Advise product development and engineering teams on the trade compliance impact of design or sourcing changes, proactively identifying risks and opportunities.
+ Collaborate with legal and compliance teams to respond to CBP inquiries, binding ruling requests, or audits related to origin.
+ Work with cross-functional teams to structure manufacturing or sourcing strategies that minimize duties while maintaining compliance.
+ Conduct regular audits and assessments to ensure adherence to compliance standards.
+ Provides support for other compliance related activities within the department in accordance with SBD policies, ensuring consistency and compliance.

**Position Specific Description**
This position is essential for ensuring the fire safety compliance and effectiveness of utility-scale battery energy storage systems (BESS). As the Fire Safety subject matter expert (SME), you will play a critical role in reviewing safety reports, approving fire safety designs, and guiding adherence to relevant codes and standards. This includes engagement with national and local fire institutions and first responders, educating various stakeholders on BESS fire safety, and ensuring standardized safety measures across all company projects. You will also participate in industry committees, fostering the advancement of fire safety standards for battery energy storage systems. This is considered a critical support role to the Energy Storage Engineering team.
**Job Duties and Responsibilities:**
+ Act as a Fire Safety subject matter expert (SME) for utility-scale battery energy storage systems (BESS).
+ Review all UL 9540a reports from cell-, module-, and up through unit/installation-level, and provide direction.
+ Analyze, approve, and offer guidance toward the fire safety system designs of BESS manufacturers and projects.
+ Review, provide feedback, and offer guidance for all project- and product-level designs regarding BESS safety and code compliance, ensuring adherence to all applicable codes and standards, including UL, NFPA, and IFC.
+ Oversee all safety analyses for project-level reports, including hazard mitigation analysis (HMA), failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA), heat flux analysis, and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations ensuring that all fire safety requirements are met or exceeded.
+ Initiate and foster relationships with national, state, and local fire institutions and first responders, including Fire Marshalls, Fire Departments, and educational institutions.
+ Travel to local jurisdictions to present BESS and fire safety to first responders, authorities having jurisdiction (AHJs), public utility commissions (PUCs), and community meetings, addressing and educating about the concerns of each stakeholder.
+ Work closely with local firefighters and first responders to educate them about the potential BESS hazards, hazard mitigation, fire safety system designs, sequences of operation, and emergency response/operation plans (ERP/EOPs).
+ Standardize information around BESS fire safety systems throughout the organization, ensuring consistent messaging in every region in which our projects are deployed.
+ Participate in task groups and technical committees for collaboration and direction of the advancement of industry codes and standards pertaining to the safety of battery energy storage systems.
+ Templatize and create standard outlines for third party analysis and reporting to allow for consistency across the board with various suppliers and improve the effectiveness and efficiency of onboarding a new supplier.
