Job Overview: APTIM is looking for a Department of Transportation (DOT) Fleet Operations and Hazardous Materials Advisor who will offer significant value to clients with k nowledge of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, Hazardous Materials regulations contained in 49 CFR, and Transportation of Dangerous Goods regulations contained in IATA and IMDG. This role will support the growth of APTIM's retail, logistics, hospitality, food & beverage, utility, and manufacturing commercial client markets. This position involves direct engagement with APTIM's commercial clients and includes collaborating with APTIM's account managers for cross-selling other service areas within APTIM and capturing new customers that will allow APTIM to grow.

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

  • Leveraging existing industry relationships to develop new customer business to APTIM.
  • Assist with developing and implementing strategic market/business plans, advisor to help the team expand APTIM's Environmental Solutions service areas and client base.
  • Serve as APTIM's subject matter expert on hazardous materials transportation and special permits, and provide ideas to solve existing client challenges related to DOT compliance.
  • Develop a working understanding of APTIM's other consulting practice areas and actively support cross-selling other services to expand existing client relationships that generate repeat business.
  • Maintain a high level of regulatory expertise. Monitors and assesses regulatory changes, communicates regulatory information to staff and clients.
  • Support as needed with project management (e.g. project planning, budgeting, client engagement, task management) to lead DOT compliance opportunities with commercial clients.
  • Support the pursuit, hiring and mentoring of subject matter experts in order to bolster APTIM's bench strength and increase APTIM's competitive advantage.
  • As needed and as desired participation in and attendance of technical seminars and industry events, including regional and national trade shows, to expand market penetration of APTIM's services.
  • A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected; anticipates and interprets customer needs to identify solutions.
  • As needed participation during APTIM's capabilities presentations with customers.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 15+ years of experience managing and executing dangerous goods and/or other fleet hazmat compliance programs
  • In-depth knowledge of IATA DGR, IMDG Code, and 49 CFR hazmat regulations
  • Thorough knowledge of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations
  • Strong communication skills and flexibility for client-facing work
  • Experience driving DOT related services with commercial customers, preferably within one of the markets listed above.
  • Ability to travel, if necessary, to perform duties.

As of the date of this posting, a good faith estimate of the current pay range for this position is $125K to $175K. Compensation depends on several factors including: experience, education, key skills, geographic location of the position, client requirements, external market competitiveness, and internal equity among other employees within APTIM.

Position Objective:

To assist in the implementation of compliance and quality within the Clinical Research Department by supporting the management of clinical investigations, audits, vendor qualifications and helping establish department metrics. This role may also assist with ensuring company compliance to GCP regulations, internal procedures, and policies in cooperation with peers.

Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with stakeholders in conducting ongoing risk assessment of clinical trial/activity to identify compliance metrics for tracking and monitoring high-risk vendors.

  • Proactively deliver expert guidance by integrating a comprehensive understanding of the electric industry, ATC's System Operations, and compliance requirements.
  • Monitor and assess regulatory updates from key external entities including NERC, FERC, Regional Entities, and Reliability Coordinators.
  • Lead ATC's response to self-certifications, spot checks, on-site audits, and mitigation activities in accordance with the NERC Compliance Monitoring and Enforcement Program (CMEP).
  • Drive the interpretation, implementation, and communication of new and revised compliance standards and requirements.

  • Assess and support updates to departmental processes to align with evolving industry practices and compliance obligations.

  • Lead internal and external peer reviews of System Operations practices and processes.
  • Assist with event analyses and oversee project activities related to corrective actions.
Initiative & Project Management
  • Plan, lead, and execute departmental initiatives that support compliance and operational integrity.
  • Facilitate cross-functional collaboration to ensure alignment across departments and manage risk effectively.
  • Track progress, manage competing priorities, and drive initiatives to timely and successful completion.
  • Coordinate and lead meetings, providing regular updates to stakeholders and resolve issues as they arise.
Communication & Representation
  • Serve as a key communicator of industry changes, compliance updates, and internal expectations.
  • Represent System Operations on ATC's corporate compliance core team and collaborate with external entities on compliance issues.
  • Support the Operations Training Program and ensure procedures reinforce compliance and internal control expectations.
  • Translate technical standards and requirements into clear, actionable guidance for internal stakeholders.
What You Bring to the Role

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, business, or a related field-or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in the energy industry or in a regulatory compliance role.
Key Skills and Competencies
  • Industry Knowledge: Understanding of, or willingness to quickly learn, current and evolving electric industry operations and compliance practices.
  • Communication & Collaboration: Strong written and verbal communication skills with a proven ability to engage and influence stakeholders across all levels.

What You'll Do

  • This position involves project management of code compliance projects, including reviewing plans, providing technical support, conducting inspections, monitoring project process for performance and budgetary conditions, proposal preparation, as well as attending project site meetings, and assisting with the resolution of technical and administrative problems
  • In this position you will be expected to mentor and train other building inspectors
  • Responsibilities also include assisting with management of P & L, marketing our services by maintaining and developing client interactions, and participating in marketing and business development functions related to code inspections
What We're Looking For
  • High School Diploma or GED

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in code compliance inspection of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection systems and/or plan review

  • Must have valid ICC certification B2, M2, P2, E2

  • If driving for, or on behalf of, any ECS subsidiary, a valid driver's license is required
