We are seeking a Project Manager, for a leading industrial and commercial construction contracting group, based out of Malta, NY! This individual will provide project management support to commercial projects. This individual will also be responsible for the following duties:
- Actively participate in the safety plans and measures of the branch and assigned projects.
- Understand and follow all guidelines related to corporate safety program.
- Create/manage punch lists proactively.
- Understand and be accountable for the Quality Control measures outlined in the QA/QC program for assigned projects.
- Prepare RFI’s, submittals and shop drawings.
- A clear understanding of our building systems and how they relate to the building process.
- Understand how to navigate and coordinate activities to maximize productivity and efficiency.
- See to quantitative takeoffs to verify estimates, order materials and price change orders.
- Create and implement job schedules, coordinate with field supervisors and foremen and effectively communicate issues to negotiate the optimal position for our trade in the work sequence.
- Perform labor control on assigned projects, including setup and maintenance; use this tool to make adjustments as necessary to maximize profits.
- Coordinate warranties and O&M’s.
- Assist in selecting the vendors and coordinate materials and equipment.
- Assist in the buyout of subcontractors, issue contracts and proactively sequence and manage the subcontractor’s work including billings and change orders.
- Complete and be accountable for the job cost control measures through monthly Financial Analysis Worksheets (FAW’s) on assigned projects.
- Support the branch through positive customer relations and active participation in the Customer Alignment Plan.
Basic Requirements
- At least 5-7 years of Construction Management work experience.
- OSHA Certification
- Experience with estimating/project management/managing specialty scopes of construction.
- Ability to diagnose and process key information, recognize critical areas on the job that could impact profitability, and then actively navigate the project away from risks and liabilities for a successful outcome.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word is required.
- A clear understanding of how to read and understand specifications and drawings is required.
- Strong oral and written communication skills is required.

The Estimating Intern works closely with the Estimating Dept to draw up estimates to determine the overall cost or a new or existing construction project. This will include creating a list of all needed materials and costs and labor associated.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES

- Review plans and specifications and complete quantity takeoffs for assigned scopes of work
- Solicit quotes from subcontractors, vendors and suppliers for indicative or firm pricing as needed
- Prepare project understanding maps and other exhibits for estimating coordination on paper and using programs such as Bluebeam and Google Earth
- Assist with analyzing data, monitoring budgets and prices using HSCC HeavyBid
- Assist with reviewing and accessing cost estimates
- Assist with identifying labor, material, costs and time requirements by researching proposals, blueprints and any related documents
- Assist with conducting risk assessments
- Attend and participate in estimate coordination meetings and provide detailed meeting minutes

Job Summary

- Collaboration with Quality Control Analyst for education and regular estimate reviews.
- Review of large estimates and understanding of full scope of the construction process, both residential and commercial.
- Management of TPA documentation, NAPA, and CAPA compliance.
- Ensuring compliance with process controls to prevent financial and legal issues.
- Weekly one-on-one meetings, Administrative Scorecard and Estimator Scorecard reviews.
- Monthly in-person office visits, group meetings, and Team Wall meeting preparation.
- Bi-weekly payroll review, staying current on industry changes, and increasing industry knowledge.
- As needed, ensure staffing and training, participate in ad hoc projects, lead employee training, conduct performance reviews, implement macros, and improve overall estimate processes.

Job Title: Commercial Construction Intern
Pay Type: Hourly
Hy-Vee Construction is seeking an estimating intern to help launch and refine our new estimating and data management platform. You'll assist with organizing project data, streamlining workflows, and testing features to improve accuracy and efficiency while gaining hands-on experience in construction estimating and contributing to the development of a more effective cost data management system. Additional training will include but is not limited to:
- Pre-construction project planning
- Conceptual project estimating
- Bid solicitation & bid leveling
- Cost history and data management
- Construction schedules
- Quantity takeoff utilizing AI assisted software
- Valid Driver's license
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and construction documents
- Ability to effectively communicate with customers and co-workers both verbally and in writing
- Proficiency with data management and spreadsheet applications is preferred
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
The applicant must be currently enrolled as a full-time student in either the Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or other approved collegiate program.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be exposed to a construction environment and sometimes be subjected to inclement outside weather conditions such as wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud when on a jobsite. Role Overview:
As a Senior Expert Witness, you will present your professional opinions in litigation, offer damage estimates, and analyze construction documents. You will manage case investigations, develop repair estimates, and allocate responsibilities for construction defects, providing clear, concise expert reports.
Key Responsibilities:
- Testify in legal proceedings regarding construction damage and cost estimation.
- Create detailed estimates for various construction scopes such as cladding, roofing, foundations, and mechanical systems.
- Oversee multiple cases involving construction defect claims, including site inspections and document analysis.
- Analyze construction contracts, allocate cost estimates, and assign defect responsibilities.
- Generate comprehensive expert reports detailing cost analysis and recommendations.
- Lead project teams, ensuring project deadlines and budgets are met.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, or Construction Management is preferred; relevant work experience will also be considered.

- Expertise in cost estimation software (e.g., RSMeans, Xactimate) and strong skills in interpreting construction plans and documents.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with experience in business development and client management.
