**Job Description:**
Parsons is looking for construction inspectors to join our team!
We have multiple positions available at the inspector and senior inspector levels for both gas and electric projects.
**What You'll Be Doing:**
+ Have a minimum of three (3) years prior experience and training in excavation, road, or utility construction with an emphasis on electric installations, plastic pipe installation, welding, and steel pipefitting. Inspectors will be required to oversee construction projects on Overhead and Underground Electric Transmission, Substation, Overhead and Underground Distribution, Environmental, Facilities and other types of electric utility projects.
+ An Inspector may be required to oversee multiple construction projects at varying stages at one time (from designing to completed final folder close out).
+ An Inspector must possess managerial skills, computer literacy, and a working knowledge of the utility industry.
+ An Inspector will be required to inspect work performed by construction contractors and supervised by Company representatives assuring adherence to company specifications, proper work methods and appropriate use of facilities and equipment.
+ Must be able to read and interpret drawings, maps, plans, specifications, and procedures. They must possess the ability to keep accurate and detailed field records including daily job reports, material usage and locations and field test records.
+ Be knowledgeable in the requirements of OSHA
+ All inspectors will be required to ensure that any job they're overseeing is maintained in a safe manner and meets or exceeds safety and environmental policies and procedures
+ Have strong organizational skills to complete daily paperwork, maps, and documentation with a clear comprehension of construction units of measurement.
**What Required Skills You'll Bring:**
+ Associate's Degree in a technical discipline or construction-related field, or a high school diploma and equivalent work experience, is required.

We are looking for all experience levels of Engineering Technicians | Construction Inspectors who will play a key role in our Building Construction Management/Quality Assurance division. Ongoing mentoring and training will be provided, based on your experience level, with opportunities for increasing responsibility if that is your career trajectory and interest.
- High School and Tech/Trade School grads/Associate degrees with a genuine interest in vertical construction are encouraged to apply! Prior experience/exposure to vertical construction is a strong plus but not required.

Highlights:
- Project sites are typically within a (60-90) mile radius of Columbus.
- A company truck can be provided or you can use your personal vehicle and receive a reimbursement.
- The typical schedule is Monday-Friday – day shift primarily (@7am-5pm).
- If bad weather affects the timeline, some Saturdays may be needed to meet our clients project schedules.

Responsibilities :
- Performs construction engineering technician services primarily involving concrete testing rebar inspection, and other building materials for vertical construction projects (buildings) for municipal and private sector clients.
- Responsible for testing, inspecting, and reporting on specific aspects of construction works in progress, such as concrete pours, rebar placement, and soils placement as examples.
- May be responsible for inspection and sampling of construction materials.
- Performs computations with formulas, plots data, and draws simple curves and graphs.
- Assists Engineers in field during soil and materials investigations.
- Ensures that job site tests/observations, including quality control, quality assurance, and verifications are performed in accordance with the standard test/observation methods, project specifications and other contract documents.
- May perform lab testing and observation of soils, concrete, and asphalt.
- Performs inspections for construction projects to ensure contractor compliance with state specifications, plans, and/or proposals for vertical construction work (buildings/facilities).
- Prepares and maintains project records and reports.
- Notify the Contractor or the Project Engineer of non-conforming work.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :
- Knowledge of engineering, construction, testing and inspection principles is a strong plus.
- Knowledge of materials and lab testing - standard testing and observation methods – is a plus.
- Knowledge and understanding of construction or engineering services in the states of: OH, IN, PA, WV is a strong plus.
- Ability to perform quality control initiatives.
- Ability to perform testing and lab reporting.
- Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Must possess an acceptable driving record.

Physical Requirements :
- Primary work location is in the field and will require candidate to stand for extended periods.
- Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.

- Perform and maintain daily record keeping of project activities and prepare monthly project estimates.
- Take field measurements of various completed work items and make calculations to determine contract pay quantities.

Skills and Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Working knowledge of mathematics in algebra, geometry, and trigonometry and the ability to apply formulas.
- Proficient in using iPad, Microsoft Office, Outlook, Dropbox and/or OneDrive.
- Ability to work independently, use own judgment and make decisions.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to perform required testing and maintain detailed reports.
- Ability to communicate effectively with agency and contractor personnel and the general public.
- Ability to read and interpret roadway, bridge and structure plans and contract specifications.
- Must be able to walk over rough and uneven terrain and be able to stand up to 12 hours a day on occasion.
- Must have the ability to bend, stoop, kneel and twist, use hands to grasp and arms to reach, to raise hands above head, to sit, climb and balance and to work in confined spaces and heights with adequate vision to perform tasks.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, on occasion.
- Ability to work outside in various weather conditions.
- Valid Driver's license with a good driving record and ability to drive.
- Level II Technicians : Minimum four years of relevant experience. Must be able to perform duties without supervision and be able to read resource materials to determine answers to simple inspection requirements.
- Level III Technicians: Minimum five years of relevant experience. Must be able to perform duties without supervision and be able to read resource materials to determine answers to simple inspection requirements.
- Level IV Technicians: Minimum seven years of relevant experience. May serve as a Lead Project Inspector performing general project oversight and communication with the contractor and NCDOT. Will be responsible for supervising lower-level technicians while providing guidance as needed.

Summit Design and Engineering Services is seeking Transportation Construction Inspectors from Trainees to Level IV to work with our Construction Engineering Inspection team on highway construction projects in the New Bern area and throughout North Carolina.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the inspection of various roadways and structures construction operations and perform a variety of calculations and computations with supervision.
- Perform materials sampling and testing.
- Collect materials weigh tickets and conduct various roadway tests to ensure materials delivered to project meets specifications and are placed in accordance with standard specification.
