Overview
The Construction Lead is directly responsible for ensuring that all construction requirements and intelligence are integrated into the conceptual design throughout the development phase of a project. He / she will be responsible for performing the initial constructability review which will include the creation of the preliminary outage planning and coordination, and site risk identification and mitigation. Must be a team player capable of working with management, project managers, engineering, project controls and contractors. Must be capable of coordinating and influencing a wide range of functional organizational leads and subject matter experts through the development phase to accomplish the goals and objectives of the organization. Must be goal oriented, action-focused, pragmatic and self-disciplined.
Responsibilities
- Research, analyze, and understand the scope of work for distribution line and substation projects and develop a preliminary constructability assessment and execution strategy for inclusion into conceptual design.
- Develop a preliminary outage plan and identify any potential outage restrictions that may affect execution.
- Identify potential risks to execution and develop a mitigation plan to reduce or eliminate the risks.
- Work with other PPL EU functional groups such as Siting / Permitting, Right of Way, Environmental and Transmission and Distribution Operations to identify and incorporate requirements in the project.
- Participate in field walk downs, design reviews and site access / environmental reviews.
- Provides regular project status reports to the Manager and Project Manager of Development.
- Sets priorities to ensure task completion and coordinates work activities with other team members to ensure delivery dates are met.
- All positions in which driving is an essential function of the job, regardless if the job code is marked safety sensitive or not, will also be included as safety sensitive.
- May be assigned an Electric Utilities emergency and storm role. This is a special assignment that comes into play during storms and other emergencies when the company needs to restore power or respond to other issues affecting customer service. This role may necessitate the need to work after-hours, outside of your normal schedule.
- The company reserves the right to determine if this position will be assigned to work on-site, remotely, or a combination of both. Assigned work location may change. In the case of remote work, physical presence in the office/on-site may be required to engage in face-to-face interaction and coordination of work among direct reports and co-workers.

Qualifications
1. Bachelor's Degree with 4 years relevant work experience; OR Master's Degree with 2 years of relevant work experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience on a year for year basis.

As a key leader, you will oversee the planning, execution, and completion of large-scale construction projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and exceeding client expectations. Partner with industry experts, vendors, and stakeholders to streamline processes, elevate performance, and deliver exceptional outcomes across all stages of project development
What You’ll Do
- Lead the planning, budgeting, and execution of high-tech and mission-critical construction projects .
- Develop and maintain project schedules, milestones, and financial forecasts .
- Work closely with subcontractors, vendors, and site teams to ensure seamless project execution.
- Oversee procurement of materials and equipment , ensuring alignment with budget and timeline constraints.
- Champion a culture of zero-harm and operational excellence, ensuring seamless adherence to regulatory requirements and industry best practices
- Review blueprints, technical documents, and regulatory requirements to maintain project integrity.
- Proactively identify risks and develop mitigation strategies to keep projects on track.
- Foster strong relationships with clients, architects, and engineers , ensuring a collaborative approach to project success.
- Lead project meetings, provide updates, and ensure clear communication among all stakeholders.
- Manage the project close-out process , ensuring successful handover and documentation completion.
What You Bring
- 4+ years of project management experience in mission-critical or data center construction .
- Minimum qualification: a four-year degree in a relevant discipline such as Building Sciences, Structural Engineering, or a comparable field of study (or commensurate industry experience)
- Strong expertise in project scheduling, estimating, and contract negotiation .
- In-depth knowledge of construction processes, building codes, and safety regulations .
- Proficiency in construction management software and tools .
- Ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive results in high-pressure environments.
- Proven ability to articulate complex ideas, navigate complex challenges, and foster collaborative relationships through effective interpersonal and diplomatic skills.
- Willingness to travel to project sites as required.
