Job Description
We are seeking experienced and entry-level Construction Materials Technicians, Special Inspectors, and Geotechnical Inspectors for diverse projects in the Greenville marketplace. Opportunities are available for Tech II and Tech III roles, as well as for individuals new to the field with an interest in the profession.
Responsibilities
+ Testing, analysis, and quality control of materials.
+ Conduct grain size analysis, Atterberg limit testing, moisture-density testing, ASTM and NCDOT hydrometers, and laboratory resistivity testing for soils.
+ Perform aggregate grain size analysis, specific gravity of fine and coarse aggregates, and dry rodded unit weight for aggregates.
+ Perform compressive and flexural strength testing of concrete cylinders, beams, and cubes, produce laboratory trial batches, sample and test fresh unit weight, air content, and observe batch plant operations for Portland Cement Concrete.
+ Conduct burn and gradation analysis, max. theoretical testing (Rice), and specific gravity testing for Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA).
+ Perform absorption and compressive strength testing on masonry blocks.
Essential Skills
+ 2-3+ years of experience preferred.
+ Experience in materials inspections, concrete, and soils & concrete testing.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Certifications in ACI, ICC, I.C.C., Nicet are preferred but not required.
+ Skills in masonry testing.
Work Environment
The role involves working both in the field and in laboratory settings. The work environment is dynamic and provides opportunities to engage with various testing and inspection processes.

This position provides an excellent opportunity to gain exposure to a wide range of high-profile construction projects across Metro Detroit, including commercial, retail, industrial, and medical buildings. Responsibilities include sampling hot mix asphalt (HMA), inspecting concrete reinforcing steel, and performing tests on freshly placed concrete such as slump, air content, and cylinder molding. We are currently seeking a Materials Coordinator to help serve our connection of clients and community. This role is crucial in ensuring our project sites are equipped with the right materials at the right time, supporting the successful execution of our engineering and construction projects.
Your Primary Responsibilities will include
- Coordinate the procurement, delivery, and inventory of construction materials for civil engineering projects
- Track material usage and delivery schedules to ensure timely availability of resources on job sites
- Collaborate with project managers, field staff, and procurement teams to forecast material needs
- Review material specifications and ensure compliance with project plans, codes, and standards
- Maintain detailed records of material orders, receipts, and deliveries
- Assist with vendor relationships, including sourcing materials and negotiating pricing and delivery terms
- Conduct regular site visits to monitor material storage, usage, and quality
- Support QA/QC efforts by ensuring material certifications and submittals are properly filed and approved
What you'll need
- IDOT Aggregate Technician or Mixture Aggregate Technician
- IDOT Portland Cement Concrete Levels I and II
- IDOT Hot Mix Asphalt Levels I and II
- IDOT S-33 Soils
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering Technology, or related field (or equivalent work experience)
- 2+ years of experience in materials coordination, procurement, or logistics within the construction or engineering industry
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with project management or ERP software (e.g., Procore, Viewpoint, Primavera)
- Understanding of civil construction materials and specifications (e.g., concrete, aggregates, pipe, geotextiles)
- Ability to communicate clearly with field crews, suppliers, and project managers

Summary
Perform material testing services for concrete and asphalt at producer plants in accordance with established testing methods and standards.
Responsibilities
- Test construction materials such as concrete and asphalt for quality control/quality assurance in material plants
- Read construction documents and specifications and correctly interpret test results
- Record and report test results in a clear, concise manner
- Complete each testing assignment accurately and in accordance with the appropriate standards
- Turn in field data records and completed reports for each project daily
- Communicate regularly with direct supervisor to provide updates on project details
- Complete continuing education and preparation for additional certifications
Qualifications
- High School Diploma required
- Desirable Certifications for this position are ACI Grade 1 Concrete, NYCMA QC/QA Certification; CME will provide full support in obtaining these certifications if do not currently possess
- Possess ability to maintain effective working relationships with managers, co-workers and clients through clear communication and proactive progress reporting
- Familiarity with construction materials, procedures and documents a plus
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license
- Must possess reliable transportation and current/required automotive insurance coverage
Compensation: $20 - 25/hour
