Position Description:
The QA/QC Specialist III provides a combination of technical and administrative support to ensure the effective implementation of quality assurance and quality control practices across the BuildLACCD program. Under the supervision of the QA/QC Manager, the QA/QC Specialist III’s responsibilities include but are not limited to:
1. QA/QC and Program Support
• Assist the QA/QC Department in monitoring compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), documenting best practices, and contributing to performance metrics.
• Support team members in verifying that SOP requirements are accurately portrayed and assist in gathering required information.
• Analyze QA/QC processes to identify gaps and support corrective actions.
• Provide technical assistance for program assessments and Lessons Learned processes, including maintaining related databases.
• Perform field observation documentation, non-conformance tracking, and follow-up with departments on QA/QC administrative matters.
• Lead on-going SOPs, best practices, and performance metrics workshops.
• Ability to handle sensitive or confidential project and audit-related information with discretion.
• Demonstrates diplomacy, especially when following up on compliance issues or non-conformance documentation
2. Reporting and Documentation
• Supports the preparation of monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and annual reports required for internal use, bond oversight, and performance audits where precision and professionalism are critical.
• Input, track, and maintain reports and logs to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Support the organization and upkeep of QA/QC documentation, including database management and electronic filing systems.
• Help ensure all required uploaded information is tracked and kept current.
3. Administrative and Coordination Functions
• Provide general and technical administrative support to the QA/QC Department.
• Strong interpersonal skills to interact professionally with project managers, contractors, inspectors, and other District departments.
• Create accurate and concise meeting agendas, meeting minutes, and distribute materials.
• Develop spreadsheets, presentations, and other tools to support QA/QC operations.
• Assist in coordinating QA/QC matters with project managers, design professionals, contractors, audit groups, and other District departments.
4. Additional Responsibilities
• Contribute to the preparation of materials for executive team, auditors, and other stakeholders.
•Provide support for special projects and technical assignments as directed.
•Perform other duties as assigned to ensure successful delivery of QA/QC program objectives.

**Position Overview**
The SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory is seeking a highly qualified Construction Quality Assurance Manager to ensure that construction projects adhere to industry standards, regulations, and contractual requirements throughout the construction process. This person functions as an independent subject matter expert in construction management, possessing a comprehensive understanding of quality management systems and oversight of construction quality control, to provide advisory support for the projects. **Your specific responsibilities include:**
+ Responsible for the implementation and enhancement of construction quality management processes, through partnership with SLAC's Design Construction Service group.
+ Support both small and large infrastructure construction projects.
+ Serve as the project¿s lead technical authority on construction quality matters.

+ Assist the project Construction Manager by providing independent assurance and oversight of construction Quality Control (QC) activities, including verification of material conformance, inspections, testing, equipment, workmanship, and document control.
+ Assists the project QAM by supporting project-specific quality programs.
+ Provides guidance to project teams throughout the planning, design, and construction phases.

**To be successful in this position you will bring:**

Stantec is seeking a safety-focused leader with field experience (preferably in construction) to supervise construction quality assurance (CQA) at a mine reclamation project in northern New Mexico beginning January 2026. This person will work onsite daily, directing a team that verifies that construction meets design specifications while working alongside the client and various contractors. This is a full-time onsite role with a minimum 2-year commitment, with potential to extend beyond. Qualified candidates will have relevant field experience and a degree in engineering or geology; an associate's degree with strong surveying skills; a professional surveying license; or comparable, relevant work experience meeting job requirements. This role includes leadership, daily interaction with a great client, and seeing years of geotechnical engineering and mine reclamation design fully implemented.
Potential compensation is excellent, with employees regularly receiving 10 or more hours of overtime per week in addition to a housing allowance, meal per diem, and use of a company provided vehicle, all while living and working near picturesque Taos, New Mexico, which is known for its skiing, biking, hiking, fishing and rafting opportunities.
This position will be expected to identify problems, deficiencies, and design deviations, and develop potential courses of action to address these issues, while communicating and articulating them to the client, construction contractor, and Stantec leadership. Strong leadership of the Stantec CQA field team is essential to the success of this position and will involve delegation of tasks based upon the skills of team-members, clear communication, and attention to detail. This position will require:
- A dynamic individual who can arrive on site and on time in a rugged, high-altitude environment 5 days per week (sometimes 6) and meet the mental and physical challenges this position demands.

- Use of and mastery of an array of field equipment, including Trimble survey equipment, portable X-ray fluorescence spectrometer, and electronic density gauge.

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A GEOTECHNICAL / CONSTRUCTION MATERIALS TESTING TECHNICIAN
Working under the immediate supervision of a registered professional engineer, you work as a team member alongside site managers, general contractors, and engineers to perform the required inspection or sampling services at various environmentally regulated solid waste landfill construction projects. You monitor general contractor activities, onsite testing, and reporting of earthwork and soil construction as well as geosynthetic baseliner, closure cap, piping, and gas extraction systems. In addition, you actively collect concrete, soil, and other site materials for testing in order to ensure construction standards and specifications are being met.

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A GEOTECHNICAL / CONSTRUCTION MATERIALS TESTING TECHNICIAN
Working under the immediate supervision of a registered professional engineer, you work as a team member alongside site managers, general contractors, and engineers to perform the required inspection or sampling services at various environmentally regulated solid waste landfill construction projects. You monitor general contractor activities, onsite testing, and reporting of earthwork and soil construction as well as geosynthetic baseliner, closure cap, piping, and gas extraction systems. In addition, you actively collect concrete, soil, and other site materials for testing in order to ensure construction standards and specifications are being met.

A company truck, phone, and safety equipment will be provided at our office.
Responsibilities- Performs In-Place Density Tests using nuclear density gauge, drive sleeve, or sand cone method.
- Aggregate Sampling. Concrete/Grout/Masonry sampling (including: air content; slump testing; visual observations; casting samples of concrete cylinders, mortar cubes, and grout prisms; and obtaining core samples).
- Also may perform asphalt sampling, backscatter tests, and coring.
- This position will be subject to outside environmental conditions, including weather conditions such as wet and /or humid environments, extreme cold and/or heat, dusty and noisy work environments.
- Work will primarily be in the field involving long-term standing and frequent walking as well as include common hazards at construction and project sites.
- Must be able to carry, lift and push/pull up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 100 pounds occasionally.
- Must be able to walk over rough and uneven terrain and be able to stand up to 10 hours a day on occasion.
- Must have the ability to see, smell, hear, talk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel and twist, crouch, crawl, reach, grasp, sit, stand, and walk.
- Weekend and overtime work and/or overnight work and travel may be required.
- Additional physical duties may be required, as necessary.
- Minimum 2 years experience
- Qualified candidates should have basic math and writing skills.
- Strong work ethics
- Ability to work as a team player.
