We are seeking a qualified Heavy Equipment Operator to oversee and manage commercial projects, specializing in site work, water/sewer projects, and the construction of playgrounds and parks. This role will require 3 years of commercial foreman experience as well as a valid MA2A1C. This position will pay between $35 and $5 an hour and can interview and start as soon as possible. Thomann Asphalt is a family-owned full-service asphalt paving company specializing in parking lot maintenance, including paving, patching, seal coating, crack sealing, drain work, and site work, which includes a full complement of grading, excavating, and utility installation services. We are currently searching for a Construction Site Operator to join the team. We have an immediate need for a safety-minded operator to perform general labor work, which may include machine operation of site equipment and transportation of materials as well as other duties as assigned. Pay ranges from $27 - $2 per hour, depending on experience.
Essential Functions
- Following safety standards to ensure project security
- Safe equipment operation used to assist in preparing the site for finishing
- Excavate and backfill sites including, but not limited to trenching for utilities, foundations, curbs, sidewalks, etc. to required grades
- Site preparation which includes general labor work, the understanding of grades, efficient time management, and the prevention of possible hazards
This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment
This job operates primarily in an outdoor work environment, in all weather conditions.
Physical Demands
The employee is frequently required to stand and occasionally climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must be able to push, pull, move and lift up to 50 pounds. - Prepare high quality civil sitework design packages needed for the construction of new, or for the modification of existing, substation and transmission facilities using CAD-based tools, based on design standards.
- Coordinate and communicate with other departments associated with Civil Design.
- Interact with manufacturers, vendors, and Client's committee members to resolve standards and material issues.
- Provide support to Constructions Services, Substation Construction, Transmission Line Construction, Project Management, Substation Maintenance, Transmission Line Maintenance, and Civil Field Services.
- Perform site visits for projects, including pre-construction meetings, during construction and post-construction. Some overnight travel may be required.
- Attend and actively participate in design review meetings.
- Handling multiple tasks simultaneously, setting priorities, and using effective time management and organizational skills to achieve project team goals.
Job Qualifications:
Education (Civil Sitework Engineer)
- BS in Civil Engineering
- Engineer-In-Training (EIT) Certification required
- A Professional Engineers (PE) license in the state of Georgia is strongly preferred, or the ability to obtain such license within 12-months of hire
EXPERIENCE
- Considerable experience in grading design, erosion control design, hydrology and storm water design are required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Detailed knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations governing civil grading design and construction as it relates to NPDES, and general construction principals.
- General knowledge of the activities associated with surveying, land acquisition, and obtaining easements.
- Detailed knowledge of civil construction methods, equipment, techniques, etc.
- Demonstrated ability to design a civil sitework land development project including site grading, stormwater design, erosion control, and permitting.
- Demonstrated ability to read, interpret and apply design criteria and government regulations to design construction drawings.
