We are seeking a dynamic and experienced General Contractor Safety Coordinator to join our team and play a crucial role in ensuring the successful execution of construction projects from inception to completion.

Our ideal candidate will have:
- A bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience
- At least five years of experience in the commercial construction industry, overseeing all aspects of jobsite safety for ground-up projects in healthcare, financial, and light industrial sectors

- A comprehensive understanding of federal, state, and local safety regulations, as well as industry best practices, is crucial

Responsibilities
- Plans, implements, communicates, and monitors safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal OSHA rules and regulations.
- Investigates all accidents and injuries; recommends and/or coordinates corrective actions with Safety Manager.
- Develops and implements safety training programs designed to instruct employees in general safe work practices plus specific instruction with regard to hazards unique to any job assignment; provides training for new employees.
- Maintains thorough knowledge of federal and state OSHA regulations and web sites; maintains up-to-date knowledge of safety codes and regulations.
- Identifies potential safety hazards at all facilities; reports hazards and recommendations for eliminating/reducing to Safety Manager.
- Encourages employees and supervisors to report all unsafe conditions immediately and schedules or coordinates repairs as soon as possible.
- Encourages employees and supervisors to report any injury that occurs on the job, even a slight cut or strain, immediately.
- Review Superintendent toolbox talks and confirm that they are up to date.
- Prepares and maintains required safety reports.
- Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
- Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a company laptop, iPad, phone, and other business machines
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk. Generally, the job requires 60% sitting, 25% walking, and 15% standing.
- Ability to communicate orally with management and other co-workers is important. Talking, hearing and vision within normal ranges is important for conversations, to receive ordinary information and to prepare or inspect building plans, blueprints, and drawings.
- Activities include extended periods of standing or sitting and extensive work with measuring devices and other machinery.
- Heavy lifting is not expected. Exertion of up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally is required.
- Please note that climbing stairs is a physical requirement. Some offices contain an elevator, but one must be able to use stairs for fire drills and emergencies.
Work Environment
The job is performed indoors in a variety of settings, including the office, interior building job sites, and job sites outside. While performing the duties of this job on a construction job site, the employee may be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles (before the use of air scrubbers); outside weather conditions; extreme cold and extreme heat. The employee may potentially run the risk of being exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock and risk of vibration. The noise level in the work environment is occasionally loud. Personal protective equipment (hard hat, safety glasses and vest) and safety gear (including appropriate clothing, shoes, and gloves) are required on job sites.

The advanced level class works under direction and requires thorough knowledge of building/construction practices and techniques; local and state codes, laws and regulations affecting building and construction activities; safety practices and procedures to perform a wide variety of inspections to ensure compliance with building and electrical codes. Performs electrical inspections of commercial, industrial, residential & agricultural buildings, towers, public street visual and traffic lights; verifies compliance with National Electric Code (NEC); provides quality customer service; complies with safety practices and all departmental, county, state federal policies/procedures/regulations and laws. (E.g. wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), use appropriate equipment to safely perform job duties, promptly report unsafe conditions). Provides expertise in answering questions from contractors, engineers, architects, building inspectors & property owners regarding electrical code, general electrical practices, regulations & specifications. Acts as liaison between contractors & property owners; resolves conflicts which may occur; answers questions regarding electrical codes, general electrical practices and/or regulations and specifications. Completes plans & pre-plan review of residential & commercial plans to check for permit & NEC Code compliance. Performs quality control inspections on electrical materials, cables, devices, panel boards & boxes; verifies compliance with specifications. Performs office duties such as entering dimensions & areas of buildings into a RES Check or Com Check program; determines size and type of insulation requirements from information gathered. Analyzes electrical load calculations. Performs others duties of a similar nature or level as assigned.
High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (G.E.D.); 5 yrs. experience working at the journeyman level in building inspections; valid Ohio Driver's License. -Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above may be substituted for the education and/or experience required. Education and Experience may not be substituted for mandated licensure/certification. Position specific minimum qualifications: Interim certification is required. Full certification must be obtained before interim period expires. Current Ohio Manufactured Home (OMH) Inspector Certification; Electrical Safety Inspector Certification. Unusual working conditions: predictable and regular attendance is required. Travel may be required. Provides expertise in answering questions from contractors, engineers, architects, building inspectors & property owners regarding electrical code, general electrical practices, regulations & specifications. Acts as liaison between contractors & property owners; resolves conflicts which may occur; answers questions regarding electrical codes, general electrical practices and/or regulations and specifications.
Completes plans & pre-plan review of residential & commercial plans to check for permit & NEC Code compliance. Performs quality control inspections on electrical materials, cables, devices, panel boards & boxes; verifies compliance with specifications.
Performs office duties such as entering dimensions & areas of buildings into a RES Check or Com Check program; determines size and type of insulation requirements from information gathered. Analyzes electrical load calculations.
Performs others duties of a similar nature or level as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (G.E.D.); 5 yrs. experience working at the journeyman level in building inspections; valid Ohio Driver's License.
