Work Environment
The job is performed indoors in a variety of settings, including the office, interior building job sites, and job sites outside. While performing the duties of this job on a construction job site, the employee may be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles (before the use of air scrubbers); outside weather conditions; extreme cold and extreme heat. The employee may potentially run the risk of being exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock and risk of vibration. The noise level in the work environment is occasionally loud. Personal protective equipment (hard hat, safety glasses and vest) and safety gear (including appropriate clothing, shoes, and gloves) are required on job sites.

The Bureau of Social Care and Community Supports works to integrate health and human services within the Medicaid program. The bureau is composed of two units, Housing and Social Determinants of Health. This position is in the Social Determinants of Health unit and will assist with implementation of a new certification process for medical respite programs (MRPs) in NYS. The position will have primary responsibility for evaluating MRP compliance with physical site requirements established in 10 NYCRR §1007.
Tasks include:
+ Evaluating floor plans, fire safety surveys, and building inspection documentation submitted with MRP certification applications;
+ Conducting on-site inspections of MRPs to verify compliance with 10 NYCRR §1007, _2020 Building Code of New York State_ , and _2020 Fire Code of New York State_ ;
+ Assisting with development of inspection tool, desk audit tool, guidance documents, and/or training materials related to MRP physical site requirements;
