Under the guidance of your crew foreman you will:
- Learn, keep current with and apply the Morton Buildings' safety and construction procedures, methods, and standards
- Read, understand and build according to construction plans
- Utilize various tools and equipment to safely and efficiently construct buildings
- Efficiently execute tasks such as: digging and installing footings, framing walls and roof structures, installing windows, entry and other doors and door openings, installing various siding and roofing materials including hi-rib steel, shingles, wood and other siding materials and mortarless masonry units, finishing with metal and wood trims
- Work with other crew personnel in a safe, organized, productive and enjoyable work environment treating everyone with dignity and respect
QUALIFICATIONS
- Building construction (post-frame), carpentry or framing experience preferred (on the job or in school)
- Willingness to participate in and complete a training program
- A valid driver's license is preferred
- Available to work 9-10 hours during peak construction season.
- Ability to take direction

- Agree to comply with all our safety processes and procedures
- Willingness to maintain and operate construction tools in a safe and proper manner

Purpose of the Position
Safely and efficiently identify, remove, pack, transport, or dispose of hazardous materials, including asbestos, lead-based paint, waste oil, fuel, transmission fluid, radioactive materials, or contaminated soil. Safely demolishes structures using hand tools or mechanical equipment as assigned.
Essential Position Responsibilities
- Removes asbestos from ceilings, walls, beams, boilers, and other structures, following hazardous waste handling guidelines and following safe demolition techniques.
- Assembles scaffolding and seals off work area, using plastic sheeting and duct tape.
- Positions mobile decontamination unit or portable showers at entrance of work area.
- Builds connecting walkway between mobile unit or portable showers and work area, using hand tools, lumber, nails, plastic sheeting, and duct tape.
- Positions portable air evacuation and filtration system inside work area.
- Sprays chemical solution over asbestos covered surfaces, using tank with attached hose and nozzle, to soften asbestos.
- Cuts and scrapes asbestos from surfaces, using knife and scraper.
- Shovels asbestos into plastic disposal bags and seals bags, using duct tape.
- Cleans work area of loose asbestos, using vacuum, broom, and dustpan.
- Places asbestos in disposal bags and seals bags, using duct tape.
- Dismantles scaffolding and temporary walkway, using hand tools, and places plastic sheeting and disposal bags into transport bags.
- Seals bags, using duct tape, and loads bags into truck or dumpster.
- Follows directions of foremen, supervisors, and managers.

Responsibilities

Take direction provided by superiors and implement construction industry best practices to complete the tasks assigned.
Qualifications

Experience on heavy highway construction projects.

Must be comfortable working at heights.

Understanding of safety risks (OSHA) and the precautions required to eliminate those risks.

Must have good communication skills.

Thorough knowledge of all aspects of construction materials, tools, equipment, and methods.

Ability to think clearly in critical and high pressure situations.

Minimum of one year construction experience.

High School Diploma/GED is required.
Important Qualities
Math skills. Laborers need to perform basic math calculations to do their job. They often help with measuring on job-sites or they may be part of a surveying crew.
Mechanical skills. Laborers frequently are required to operate and maintain equipment, such as jackhammers.
Physical stamina. Laborers must have endurance to perform strenuous tasks throughout the day. Highway laborers, for example, spend hours on their feet—often in hot temperatures—with few breaks.
Physical strength. Laborers often must lift heavy materials or equipment up to 75 lbs.

Job Description
This position provides construction support to the special projects construction team of Northern Natural Gas field operations department through providing general labor activities at company construction sites.
Responsibilities
- Assist the special projects construction team by providing labor on construction projects.
- This may include hauling material and equipment by hand and vehicle; hand work such as digging, grinding, scraping, sand blasting; light carpentry work such as construction and removing concrete forms; painting; general site clean-up; and any other tasks as directed by the Supervisor or team members. (40-50%)
- Operate and maintain material handling equipment such as fork lift trucks, telehandler, overhead hoists and pallet movers. Safely move large sections of pipe and material to and from construction sites as required. (15-25%)
- Operate and maintain hydraulic torque wrenches and impact wrenches in the setup and tear down of welded assemblies being hydrostatically tested. (5-10%)
- Provide general shop preventative maintenance to tools and equipment used by the special projects construction team including general cleanup. (5-10%)
- Perform any additional responsibilities as requested or assigned. (0-5%)
- Contribute to a team-centric work environment based on mutual respect and integrity.

- High school diploma or GED or equivalent education and experience.
- Zero to two years of related experience.
- Ability to obtain a valid Commercial Driver's License.
- Possess a mechanical background with an understanding of general construction tools and construction tool components.
- Effectively work in a directed team environment that includes shared responsibilities; establish and maintain good working relationships with crew members, landowners, contractors and customers; support team and company objectives and be willing to work in any and all areas of operation as requested.
- Subject to Department of Transportation drug and alcohol related regulations and testing.
- Exposure to hazardous conditions, adverse weather, cramped conditions and heavy lifting.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Effective analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently.
- Subject to 24-hour call-out, 7 days per week, will be required to carry a cell phone.
- Must be willing to work overtime including holidays, weekends and extended days.
- Must be willing to work away from home on occasion for extended periods of time.
