An established and well respected leader in their field are searching for a FULL-TIME Construction Laborer / Operator to install all phases of underground construction installation in the telecommunications field in Corpus Christi, TX and the surrounding area.

Experience is preferred but will consider candidates who have previous Construction Experience or are Mechanically Inclined and will provide PAID Training for the right candidate! If you have an interest in this position please submit your information today.

Install and maintenance of underground telecommunications cabling
Operate or work around heavy equipment and machinery
Perform general construction work under direction of Foreman/Supervisor

Qualifications:

Basic knowledge of and ability to operate various types of utility trucks and equipment in a safe manner
Basic knowledge of and ability to hand tools and equipment in a safe manner
Must have a valid driver's license
Must be authorized to work in the United States
Must be able to pass drug, background, DOT & MVR screenings
Must be able to lift/carry 50 lbs regularly and up to 100 LBS as needed with or without assistance

Job Summary

Provides primary oversight for new and or major retrofit Thermal Combined Cycle Power Generation projects to ensure adherence to safety, budget, and schedule goals including overall organization and management of all internal and external stakeholders to meet short-term and long-term project objectives with responsibility for all onsite project execution activities.

Responsibilities include managing major thermal projects by working with internal teams such as development, engineering, legal, environmental, supply chain and operations; assists in project scope book development to bid the EPC portions of the project, development of other major equipment bid packages to support the bidding process and project schedule; manages cross functional project team in both an office and site environment, to include all engineering, procurement and construction activities as well as direct procurement of Owner furnished equipment such as the industrial gas turbine generators, transformers, HV breakers and other potentially long lead time equipment.

Management of equipment supply and construction contracts through project closeout including mitigation of owner risks regarding cost and schedule and contract change order management.

Ensures that the project is being constructed in compliance with design standards, applicable codes established for the project, as well as ensuring that comprehensive safety standards are implemented and enforced.

Job Responsibilities

  • Relocate to project site from mobilization through to project completion, close out and hand over to Operations. Trips home will be as per company policy.
  • Working knowledge of Thermal simple and combined cycle technologies as well as the HV transmission interconnection systems.
  • Solid general knowledge of power generation construction and all related discipline(s).
  • Accomplishes work through others as well as being a significant contributor to scope book and contractual documentation. Responsible for direct management of the entire project including Quality, Safety, Cost, Schedule and contractor performance.
  • Manages employees performing related duties including full human resources, cost and budgetary accountabilities.
  • Professional with wide-ranging, advanced technical experience to resolve complex issues.
  • Decisions typically related to resources, project approach, and tactical operations.
  • Results have significant impact on costs and the achievement of project objectives and/or project-based goals.
  • Makes decisions for large-scale projects, a closely related set of projects and initiatives involving own and possibly related functional areas.
  • Receives assignments in the form of objectives and determines tactical approach, resources, schedules and goals.
  • Uses independent judgment requiring in-depth evaluation of variable factors. Independently selects methods, techniques, analytical approach and evaluation criteria.
  • Determines methods and procedures for new assignments.
  • As the project leader regularly coordinates work of professionals, technicians and others both inside and out of his/her own department.
  • Trains and mentors employees on technical and leadership skills.
  • Collaborate and solve problems works with others to resolve significant issues, clarify or interpret complex information, provide initial screening/negotiations.
  • Must be a skilled communicator both oral and written, comfortable reporting project status to senior executives.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelors degree preferred in ME, EE, CE or Construction Management or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Requires minimum 15 years experience, including extensive knowledge of industrial construction techniques and a minimum of 5 years working as a project manager or construction manager on a thermal generation project that utilizes industrial gas turbines, heat recovery steam generators, and steam turbines to power the facility.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field plus a minimum of five years of experience performing primary responsibilities listed above.
  • Proficient with Outlook, Excel and Word is a plus.
  • Background of technical skills and understanding of civil construction projects.

**A day in the life:**
**Installing and maintaining all Billboards**
+ Installing and maintaining all Billboards
+ Remove and hang flexes, remove and hang vinyl's, cut and prepare flexes and vinyl's for installation, cut, prepare and install copy on Tri-Visions
+ Maintain structures-repairs include but not limited to: tightening bolts, painting steel structures, repairing trim and various parts of the sign face and structure, change light bulbs as needed, paint structures, assemble structures and faces when required.
+ Building and installing extensions, cutting brush/weeds, conduct storm damage repairs, minor electrical repairs, and sweeping/cleaning workshop area.
+ Use power/manual tools, must adhere to all safety regulations.
+ Attend safety meetings as required.
+ Maintain operation vehicles; maintain tools, equipment and machinery.
+ Responsible for taking completion photos for proof of performance.
**Physical Demands and Work Environment:**
+ The primary work environment for this position is outdoors, requiring the ability to work in adverse weather conditions and climb to heights up to 200 ft.
+ The physical demands for this position include heavy lifting (up to 100 pounds), extensive bending, pushing, reaching, seeing (with a focus on reading, color distinction, acuity, depth perception, and peripheral vision), sitting less than 50% of the time, standing, stooping, talking, turning, walking, driving, and climbing
+ Nights spent away from home traveling are less than 10%
+ On-call shifts may be required
