Working flexible shifts at University Hospital Southampton NHS FT , you will enjoy close working relationships with child and adult patients to diagnose, investigate, treat, and manage skin, hair and nail complaints, providing the highest standards of care at all times.

Working alongside a friendly, multidisciplinary team of dedicated healthcare professionals, you will be using some of the most advanced medical equipment in the country to ensure the effective provision of modern dermatology services.

Qualifications/Licenses/Certifications

Essential

• FRCS (OMFS) Essential CV
• Completion of higher training (CCT or within 6 months of obtaining)
• Be a GMC registered Doctor
• Have relevant experience at consultant level, or references to support your transition up to Consultant level.
• Hold evidence of stand-alone Right to Work in the UK (unfortunately locum jobs can't offer visa sponsorship)
• You will need to pass an enhanced background check (DBS).

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Locum Consultant to join our Cardiology Team

This post is for a Locum Consultant in Cardiology with a subspeciality interest in heart failure that gives the opportunity to help developing the heart failure service in the trust. The department is seeking a full-time 12-month fixed term Locum Consultant Cardiologist with additional weekend on-call 0.5 PA. The vacancy will offer an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated Medic to join a dynamic, rapidly expanding team delivering multidisciplinary acute care in Mersey and West Lancashire Teaching Hospitals.

Suitable candidate will be supported to develop and maintain their subspecialty skills.

• The work schedule will be based on a standard 40-hour contract of 10 Programmed Activities (PA's), with 7.5 clinical sessions. (a minimum of 2 of these are non-direct clinical: nDCC, i.e., admin, MDT, M & M etc).
• There will therefore be 2.5 SPAs, including 1.5 for revalidation and 1 to be developed over the first 6 months of the post appointment.
• Additional 0.5 PA is added for contribution to weekend Rota (currently 1:10). Out of hours work outside weekends ward rounds is mainly that of telephone advice with very infrequent hospital attendance. Current compensation for this element is 5%.
• The clinical timetable has been designed to attract the best candidates to this Trust. It is however; open to discussion and alteration with the aims of being in the best interests of the service and meeting individual needs:
• The exact allocations for consultants sub-specialty interests and invasive cardiology will be arranged for each consultant according to competencies and coordinated with further new sessions created as required.

Specialist Regional Services

We provide the Mersey Regional Burns & Plastic Surgery Unit at Whiston Hospital and the Spinal Injuries Unit at Southport Hospital to more than 4 million people across the whole of Merseyside, West Lancashire, Cheshire, Isle of Man and North Wales.

• The post holder will take an equal share of the cardiology ward inpatient beds on a rotational basis.
• During CCU usual fixed commitments will be cancelled or covered by another consultant cardiologist.
• During the cardiologist on call week, the consultant cardiologists undertake daily ward rounds on the CCU including weekends and provide out-of-hours consultant cover the phone with a frequency of 1 in 10 weeks.
• In addition to CCU ward rounds the on-call consultant see inpatients consultation referrals from other wards.
• On call commitments also involve weekend attendance to the cardiology ward to post-take new patients and review patients who requires senior review from previous handover.
• The post holder will provide out ofhours 5pm-9 am normal days and all weekends advice to the on-call team. Telephone advice is not frequent based on our experience and rarely require attendance to hospital out of hours, for example for temporary pacing wire insertion.
• In addition to 0.5PA for weekend ward rounds a supplement of 5% is paid for on call availability. They are not involved in the General Medicine on call rota. There is no commitment to General Internal Medicine oncall or GIM post take ward rounds.

• Full GMC registration at the time of appointment
• MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
• MRCP or equivalent medical qualification

• Demonstrates the necessary range, depth and breadth of competencies specified in the cardiology curriculum and applying to this post
• Competency in Heart Failure management
• Competency in Pacing, Nuclear or Cardiology and/ or CT angiography
• Evidence of appropriate teaching experience
• Demonstrates ability to undertake robust audit/research within team structure
• Cardiology subspecialty interest suitable for DGH development
• Evidence of relevant academic and research achievements, e.g. degrees, awards, presentations, publications

A nonexempt position responsible for performing a variety of duties in various ambulatory settings, including primary, multi-specialty, specialty practices. May be involved in both the clinical and administrative areas including assisting providers with patient care, and handling clerical, environmental, and organizational tasks. High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
