The Joe R. & Teresa Lozano Long School of Medicine at UT Health San Antonio is seeking a full-time Lead Consultation/Liaison (C/L) Psychiatrist who will oversee the C/L team at a major teaching hospital that's also one of just two Level I trauma centers in the area.
Responsibilities include working with residents, students, and colleagues (including NPs) to address consultation needs from non-psychiatric services such as Internal Medicine, Surgery and Neurology. The service is busy and dynamic, with a strong support team including residents, an additional psychiatrist, and a NP. UT Health has a large resident program in the psychiatry, with two residents at a time rotating through the C/L team.
Ideal candidates are experienced general psychiatrists. Previous consultation experience or a C/L fellowship is preferred; however, the team is highly supportive and will offer mentorship and training when needed. Leadership or learning positions may also be available for candidates with extensive experience.

Under minimal supervision, provides psychiatric care as a member of our multidisciplinary consultation-liaison (C-L) psychiatry team throughout Denver Health Hospital, which includes general medical floors, medical and surgical intensive care units, surgical step-down units, labor & deliver/mom-baby/ob-gyn services, pediatrics, and the correctional care medical facility. Diagnose and treat children and adults, including patients with complex and co-occurring medical, psychiatric, and substance use disorders. Provides expert assessment and evidence-based, trauma-informed clinical care. Provides teaching and supervision to multi-disciplinary and multi-level learners and trainees including psychiatry residents, psychology interns, APPs, and medical students. Opportunities will be available to be involved in quality improvement projects, data monitoring, and scholarly work (e.g. publications, grant proposals, research). As needed, will perform administrative support functions and assist in dispositional planning. As needed, may be asked to temporarily cover other inpatient psychiatry services (e.g. the adult inpatient psychiatric unit, the integrated medicine and psychiatry unit).
Essential Functions
- Provide high quality clinical services to individuals currently hospitalized, often for co-occurring complex medical and psychiatric conditions, that is diversity-equity-inclusion-informed and trauma-informed as well as developmentally appropriate.
- Works on a 7-on / 7-off schedule (Monday thru Sunday) with responsibilities to cover medication for opioid use disorder consults on weekends.
- Obtains relevant medical histories, makes appropriate diagnoses, implements effective, evidence-based treatments.
- Conducts risk assessments for suicide and violence among patients at risk due to psychiatric illness, including schizophrenia, bipolar, depressive, anxiety, substance use disorders, and personality disorders.
- Applies treatment statutes for involuntary psychiatric and/or substance use disorder treatments.
- Consults with providers who are part of the primary medical/surgical team and generates recommendations, referrals, and case management as indicated.
- Interprets the results of relevant laboratory and imagining studies and applies them to the diagnosis and treatment of psychiatric symptoms.
- Generates documentation of assessment and intervention in the medical record in a timely manner.
- Provides teaching and supervision to multi-disciplinary trainees and medical students.
- Participates in quality improvement projects and academic efforts in research and professional writing.
- Enhances professional growth and development through participation in additional trainings, educational programs, reviewing current literature, and attending in-service meetings and workshops.

Rutgers University Behavioral Health Care (UBHC), established in 1971, offers a full continuum of evidence based behavioral health and addiction services for children, adolescents, adults, and seniors throughout New Jersey. UBHC's 1,060 experienced behavioral health professionals and support staff are dedicated to treatment, prevention, and education. UBHC, one of the largest providers of behavioral health care in the country, has a budget of $260 million and has 15 sites throughout New Jersey. Services are readily accessible and include: inpatient, outpatient, partial hospitalization, screening, crisis stabilization, family/caregiver support, community outreach and case management, supportive housing, supported employment, prevention and consultation, employee assistance programs, and a licensed therapeutic school from preschool through high school.
Specialty services include the New Jersey suicide prevention helpline and peer help lines for police, veterans, active military, teachers, mothers of special needs children and child protective service workers. In FY2016, UBHC treated 16,199 consumers, had 24,502 admissions, and touched the lives of 19,441 individual callers through peer support. In addition, UBHC is the primary mental health training resource for the New Jersey departments of Human Services, Children and Families, and Corrections, delivering 16,000 trainings each year.

POSITION SPECIFICS
Event Consultation Assistants play a critical role in supporting on-campus programming efforts led by student organizations. Reporting to the Associate Director for Campus Programming, they assist with the coordination and execution of over 1,800 annual student-led programs of varying sizes and complexities. The position emphasizes collaboration, communication, and attention to detail while ensuring compliance with University policies and local regulations. Event Consultation Assistants also serve as a liaison to key campus partners and provide administrative and advising support throughout the event planning process.
The Event Consultation Assistant, reporting to the Associate Director for Campus Programming, plays a key role in supporting on-campus programming efforts led by student organizations. Student Organizations sponsor more than 1800 programs each year ranging in complexity and size. The Event Consultation Assistant maintains a programming database, advises student organizations on university policies and procedures, assists with room reservations, refers students to appropriate departments, provides programming resources, and schedules appointments for further advising. This position reviews and assesses risks of programs and ensures compliance with University policies and procedures and other local, county or state regulations. The successful candidate must be an active contributor to both the Student Leadership and Involvement and Event Management Teams and collaborate closely with campus partners that support student programming. These partners include, but are not limited to, the Student Organization Finance Office, the HUB-Robeson Center, Risk Management, and Marketing. The Event Consultation Assistant also serves as a resource for staff and supports training efforts for students on programming policies and procedures.
Previous customer service is preferred. Must have experience with Microsoft Office applications. Must be able to maintain a high level of confidentiality, work independently, and be willing to learn new materials and computer programs as needed
