The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences within the UW School of Medicine is the third largest clinical department with 285 full-time faculty members, 280 clinical faculty members, and over 200 staff. Department faculty provide clinical services in 5 hospitals, 14 primary care locations, and several outpatient sites in addition to telepsychiatry consultations to more than 150 clinics in Washington and beyond. As the only academic psychiatry department serving the five state WWAMI region (Washington, Wyoming, Alaska, Montana, Idaho), the Department's highly competitive residency training program is largely responsible for developing the mental health workforce in the Pacific Northwest. The Department's robust research portfolio totals $35 million in grants and contracts per year for projects ranging from clinical neurosciences to treatment development to health policy and population health. The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences is recruiting for a **Continuing Education Coordinator.**
**Position Purpose:**
The Addictions, Drug & Alcohol Institute has an outstanding opportunity for a Continuing Education Coordinator. As a team member of the Center for Community-engaged Drug Education, Epidemiology and Research (CEDEER) you will actively contribute to a growing portfolio of research and projects across the state related to substance use interventions, drug epidemiology, overdose prevention and harm reduction. Reporting to the Manager of Program Operations, this position will provide administrative and operational support for a range of team activities including trainings, technical assistance, health education, online dissemination of substance use data and research, community engagement, and event coordination. Day-to-day activities will range from public-facing tasks such as training coordination and website and social media updates to back-end tasks such as reporting, scheduling, and budget tracking.
**Position Complexities:**
This position requires eagerness to work collaboratively in a high-energy team, an open mindset about substance use, strong writing skills, and skills/familiarity with databases, social media, and project management platforms.
**Position Dimensions and Impact to the University:**
The CEDEER provides essential research and projects in the field of substance use interventions in Washington. This Continuing Education Coordinator plays an important role in the success of the team.
**Responsibilities:**
Provide input on the design and organization of a Communications Strategic Workplan and play a key role in supporting multiple team members to implement workplan activities successfully and on time to achieve communication goals. A significant focus will be on improving the visibility and impact of website and social media content and implementing new strategies for virtual dissemination of information. (20%)
· Assist team members to plan, schedule, promote and implement in-person and virtual trainings for professional, clinical and layperson audiences. Coordinate continuing education credits for relevant courses, edit training materials per visual standards, and help training team apply new methods to evaluate training program content and processes. (20%)
· Utilize project organizational tools such as project management platforms and shared cloud folders to help the team organize project documents, progress tracking, and communication. (10%)
· Support event coordination through materials preparation, venue coordination, use of technology tools, and other event logistics. (10%)
· Assist with project reporting and tracking project budgets and contract deliverables. (10%)
· Zoom technical assistance, including note & attendance taking (as needed). (5%)
· Maintain records and create reports on training registration, attendance, and evaluations. (5%)
· Support project team with partner email communications. (5%)
· Develop and maintain listservs, project directories or other trackers with guidance from team members. (5%)
· Update project websites or other sharing platforms (if applicable) in collaboration with team members. (5%)
· Help conduct a branding, formatting and grammar review of all training and educational materials. (5%)
**Minimum Qualifications:**
Bachelor's Degree in Sciences, Humanities, Business Administration, or other related field
Two years experiences working with multidisciplinary teams in social services, health care, or public health. Significant work experience may substitute for degree.
**ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS**
Strong working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite and proficiency in the use of Internet technologies and database systems. -
Skills and experience in writing, editing, and proofing.
Excellent oral and interpersonal communication skills.
The ability to work in a professional manner both as a self-starter and as a team member.

Description of Work Unit
CSUVetCE
This position serves to direct the post-graduate veterinary continuing education (CE) programs, operated as CSUVetCE, for the College of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences. CSUVetCE operates from the state-of-the-art CE facilities within the C. Wayne McIlwraith Translational Medicine Institute ( TMI ). These facilities include 11,000+ square feet of dedicated CE space in addition to shared use of TMI's 6655sf Grand Event Hall with 2070sf outdoor terrace, 3246sf 3rd Floor auditorium, 4556sf standing large animal examination / teaching space and more. Future growth of the program is projected to expand beyond the TMI facilities.
Launched as an idea in 2018, CSUVetCE is now the largest provider of university-based veterinary continuing education (CE) in North America (if not the world). Between our public-facing CE courses ( and our private, customized courses for practice network groups and specialty organizations, we annually provide more than 100in-personCE training courses on more than 200 calendar days to more than 2600 veterinarians from around the US and the world. Our growing library of "anywhere/anytime" online courses has further expanded our global reach. Our in-person and online courses span from the entry-skill level veterinarian to the advanced sub-specialist and currently cover canine, feline, equine and exotic species on topics such as general surgery, critical care and emergency case management, ultrasonography, endoscopy, laparoscopy, ophthalmology, arthroscopy, wound management, lameness evaluation, orthopedic coaptation, orthopedic surgery, dentistry, reproduction and more.

+ Leverage veterinary CE industry awareness to:
+ lead and innovate training techniques & programs.

+ develop comprehensive annual CE calendars to include course names, coordinator/instructors, sponsors, descriptions, pricing and budgets.
+ Oversee all logistics of course execution including shipping/receiving, instructor/attendee correspondence, transportation, catering, billing/accounts receivable, etc.
+ Ensure that CE program complies with university, state, and federal safety, certification, and license requirements.
+ Collaborate effectively with university, college, departmental to successfully operate the CSUVetCE program in alignment with all pertinent and relevant organizational missions.
+ Collaborate effectively with the Lab Animal Resources ( LAR ) and VHS Anesthesia teams to assure regulatory compliance and to serve as conscientious stewards of any animals under our care.
+ Collaborate effectively with the Marketing and Outreach teams for TMI and CVMBS to successfully communicate, advertise, and promote CSUVetCE.
+ Collaborate effectively with the TMI Learning & Media Technology team to produce & deliver educational materials of the highest quality.

  • Documentation of successful project experience in a contemporary workplace, public safety environment or educational institution.
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Must be a public speaker with excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Adept in report writing.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, motivational, and leadership skills.
  • Strong skills in sales and marketing.
  • Sound use of judgment.
  • Skillful problem-solving ability.
  • Motivated self-starter with high character and integrity.
  • Technology savvy to include proven experience with Microsoft Office and Windows applications.
  • Ability to work independently as well as with others.
