+ **Portfolio Management** - Overseeing the project portfolio within Quality, including being a critical partner to all project managers & owners to identify possible connections, dependencies & promote delivering on results across projects
+ **Strategic Management** - Support the Quality Leadership Team in bringing the strategy into execution and being a key player in understanding & identifying the key strategies & initiatives that impact Quality.

**Responsibilities**

This role will support the Amcor Flexibles Converter and Distribution business group. Please note the location for these role(s) will be field based as well as remotely; however, travel will be needed. (estimated 75%)

Responsibilities

+ Serve as key operational partner to Senior Director of Operations by supporting day-to-day activities for 8-12 plant locations.

MISSION / SUMMARY:

The Manufacturing Excellence Manager will report to the Mill Manager. The Manufacturing Excellence Manager will support the Mill Manager, other Mill leadership and Mill personnel, and partner with the Mill Division CI org to accelerate Lean Six Sigma performance by building a culture of continuous improvement deploying Lean, A3, Six Sigma, KT and other CI strategies throughout the Mill.

JOB FUNCTIONS: Job functions include, but are not limited to the following.

* Lead various CI projects within and across operations to optimize performance.
* Deliver significant Continuous Improvement Cost Savings through the execution of complex, Mill-wide A3 and Six Sigma projects.
* Certify within the Mill Division CI Program to enhance individual CI tools / techniques and co-train, coach and mentor internally certified CI practitioners and other improvement personnel in Lean, Six Sigma, and Rational Process Thinking Methodology.
* Work directly with Mill site leadership team and others to Guide the creation, documentation, and implementation of site focused improvement plans aligned with Division and Corporation strategy.
* Create opportunities for the mill to share and develop best practices with Lean Six Sigma. Emphasis on standard work, process confirmation to drive employee engagement, reduced voluntary turn-over and improved throughput / reduced cull.
* Build and develop improved operations, processes, and procedures to support the Mill Division's strategic direction
* Facilitate a high level of employee participation on teams and in events to foster high involvement, accountability, and results.

BACKGROUND / EXPERIENCE:

* Minimum of 10 years of manufacturing experience preferred.
* Prior manufacturing experience in the production of coated paper/board greatly preferred.
* Lean Six Sigma Certification preferred.

EDUCATION / KNOWLEDGE:

* Four-year college degree, is recommended (ideally with engineering, business management, or operations focus) or equivalent eight years of experience

A Brief Summary of This Position:

This position is developmental with a potential future as a site leader within Valmont. Indirect leadership position is responsible for assisting in the Lean transformation for Operations through influence and relationship, as directed by the Sr. Plant Manager. The incumbent will coach and train managers, supervisors and office & shop floor team members in the applications of Lean tools and processes including Kaizen events and key metrics associated with ongoing Lean improvement. This position will also be responsible for assisting the Lean journey by implementing and utilizing Lean Principles and Methodologies. The role of the site Lean Excellence Manager is to champion the use of effective tools to improve operations, measure success and deliver ever-improving results. This position will build strong relationships throughout the organization to establish trust and credibility in the methodologies of Lean.

Essential Functions:

* Identify, prioritize, and facilitate the execution of a Site Transformation Plan through: Value Stream Mapping, Critical KPI's, our Lean Assessment Tool, and Strategy Deployment.
* Drive the strategic vision within the business
* Identify improvement opportunity participants
* Provide relevant training and execution leadership
* Lead, facilitate, and identify ownership of action plans for improvement opportunity events
* Ensure sustainment of improvement opportunity events
* Provide specified communication (including visual management) throughout the improvement opportunity events
* Assist and facilitate the utilization of solid problem solving methodology to assist in action item generation for strategy deployment targets

Required Qualifications of Every Candidate (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):

* Preferred Bachelors with 6+ years relevant experience or Associates Degree with 8+ years relevant experience or 10+ years of relevant experience
* Preferred facilitation/coaching experience at TPM events, Standard Work Events, SMED events, RCA's manufacturing and administrative value stream improvement projects
* A solid understanding of Lean principles and methodology
* Demonstrated experience effectively managing others while facilitating and delivering results to a business
* Proficient in Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point, Share Point, Internet Explorer
* Effective facilitation skill set for interaction with all levels of the organization
* Data Driven decision making

Primary Responsibilities
