Human Resources Generalist

The Human Resources Generalist will play a key role in supporting daily HR operations, implementing policies and programs, and ensuring compliance with employment laws. Successful candidates will have:

Employee and Labor Relations Assist in conducting and coordinating employee relations, including exit interviews, employee investigations, and any additional employee feedback. Own and manage unemployment claims process ensuring the timely completion of submissions and responses. Assist in employee corrective actions, organization of yearly performance review process, and organization or employee files. Relationship and Development Management Assist in conducting and identifying development trainings in collaboration with museum leadership. Manage employee relations issues including conflict resolution, disciplinary actions and improvement and exit strategies. Assess employee concerns and provide support to managers on methods to resolve with discretion. Champion and demonstrate the museum's Inclusion and Belonging commitment of the museum through HR programs and initiatives. Compliance and Regulations Ensure compliance with labor regulations Conduct additional trainings in compliance with state and federal mandate and others as assigned. Maintain physical and digital files according to HR retention guidelines. Conduct audits and data analysis to maintain compliance with required regulatory reports. Deliver workforce data to managers to support projects for their departments and teams. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree preferred. Minimum of three (3) years of demonstrated HR experience. HR certification (PHR/SPHR or SHRM CP/SCP) preferred. Prior experience in labor relations and/or union negotiations is a plus. Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills. Ability to handle confidential information and ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws. Strong proficiency with MS Office Suite; Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word required. Aptitude for problem-solving and conflict resolution. Exceptional verbal and written communication; ability to communicate with all levels of staff. Desire to work as a team with a result driven approach. Experience in HRIS, recruiting, and payroll systems. Language : Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, standard operating procedures, etc. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees of theorganization. Mathematical : Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, turnover and retention rates, etc. Reasoning : Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Physical : While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; and taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Summary The HR Generalist provides support across various human resources functions, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and compliance with company policies and employment laws. This role serves as a resource to employees and managers on HR-related matters and supports daily HR operations. This is an onsite role with one day remote. Key Responsibilities Assist with recruitment efforts including job postings, screening, interviewing, and onboarding Administer employee changes in HRIS, ensuring data accuracy and confidentiality Provide guidance to employees on HR policies, procedures, and benefits inquiries Coordinate employee training programs and maintain compliance-related training records Assist with employee relations matters, escalating issues as needed to HR leadership Maintain personnel files in compliance with legal requirements and company policies Participate in the implementation of HR initiatives to improve employee engagement and workplace culture Assist with payroll changes, timekeeping audits, and benefits administration as needed Support compliance reporting, recordkeeping, and audits (EEO, OSHA, etc.) Support with the administration of leave of absence, FMLA, and disability claims Assist with the administration of workers compensation injuries including filing claims, employee communication, and return to work programs Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local employment requirements including but not limited to Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), Title VII, I-9 process, FMLA, ADA, annual poster requirements, etc. Conduct employee offboarding, exit interviews, and inform recommendations to continuously improve employee experience Other duties as assigned Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources , Business Administration, or related field preferred Minimum 2 years of experience in an HR Generalist or HR Coordinator role Bilingual skills English/Spanish Working knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices Strong interpersonal and communication skills with ability to maintain confidentiality Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and HRIS systems (e.g., ADP, Paycom, or similar) Competencies Strong organizational and time management skills Attention to detail and problem-solving abilities Ability to build effective relationships across all levels of the organization Adaptability to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment Lifeway Foods, Inc is a growing Chicago-based beverage manufacturer with over 40 years of experience.
