The Position
The Social Work Field Outreach Coordinator serves as a primary contact for current and potential students navigating through the social work career pathway at Ocean County College. This position is expected to provide career and technical education (CTE) program career-integrated learning opportunities and employment goals through working closely with both faculty and students in the Social Work program. The successful candidate will assist in planning career development workshops, matching students in various field-based practicum assignments, plus building and maintaining key community employer relationships. The Social Work Field Outreach Coordinator will aid the Program Chair in supporting the success of students enrolled in industry-aligned learning experiences.
This is a part-time position, scheduled for 15-20 hours per week. This position is funded by the Perkins V Grant, and is dependent on grant renewal on an annual basis.
What You Will Do
1. Plans, markets and conducts employer orientation sessions for the assigned CTE program including information on career pathways and student support.
2. Develops and monitors career exploration activities related to the assigned CTE program profession, including but not limited to: interacting and collaborating with community-based partners regarding employment initiatives.
3. Provides student oversight and obtains student/employer feedback regarding student work-based learning experiences; and monitors sites as needed.
4. Maintains and updates all program-related files and documentation related to outreach, placement, completion and wage increases; establishes and maintains an organized and confidential management system.
5. Develops and fosters ongoing relationships with potential work-based learning site supervisors, students, faculty, and community stakeholders; acts as a liaison to other areas within the College and outside agencies, as needed, to support students' goals toward completion and employment.
6. Participates in relevant staff meetings, in-service trainings, and meetings with community partners.
7. Prepares and tracks all work-based learning activities and outcomes.
8. Coordinates the annual fair for assigned CTE program.
9. Related duties and projects as assigned.
The Successful Candidate Must Have
1. Associate's degree in Social Work or a related field.
2. At least one year of related experience in student services, career advising, job placement (ideally in higher education) that involved recruitment and advising of program participants and/or students.
3. Exceptional client and/or student service that includes conflict resolution and problem-solving skills in a primary contact/information resource capacity.
4. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and/or Google Workspace.
5. Proven ability to create standard reports and prepare professional documents, presentations, flyers, and correspondence
6. Driver's license in good standing and willingness to travel within assigned territory.
7. Candidates should expect to conduct in-person site visits and on-campus work within a flexible schedule.

1. Bachelor's degree in Social Work or a related field.
2. Prior experience with adult/non-traditional student population.
