You have:
  • 4 - 6 years of experience with conveyor, automation, robotics, PLC troubleshooting/programming, communications protocols (Profi, DeviceNet, Ethernet TCP/IP etc.).

Project Overview:

Bechtel is the licensing, engineering, procurement, and construction partner on TerraPower's Natrium team. Selected by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) for its Advanced Reactor demonstration Program, Natrium is participating in a DOE initiative to re-establish U.S. leadership in nuclear energy that provides matching funds to industry to design and build an operational advanced reactor. TerraPower, a leading advanced generation technology company founded by former Microsoft CEO Bill Gates, will be deploying its 345 MWE sodium fast reactor (SFR), called Natrium. The Natrium Demonstration plant features an advanced, cost-competitive reactor design that is safer, easier and less costly to construct, less expensive to operate, and able to provide energy that is competitive with fossil fuels. It also features an innovative molten salt storage output, combined, the plant can produce more than 500 MWE. The Natrium Demonstration plant will be licenced by the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC).

Job Summary:

In this role, you will use 2-D/3-D computer-aided design (CAD) to develop designs for Control Systems engineering such as Instrument Installation Drawings, Instrument Locatoion Drawings, control cabinet layouts, etc. You will be required to navigate the 3D model to locate instrumentation, racks, panels, cabinets and other misc. Control Systems commodities. Your collaboration across disciplines will coordinate compliance and quality in the overall project design. • Coordinates or makes jobsite visits as required, to resolve problems and interpret drawings and documents. Reviews or defines engineering scope changes, as required, for project management. Endorses or prepares reports of work progress, as required, for project and discipline use.

• Maintains up-to-date skills in Standard Application Programs (SAPs) relevant to design work and ensures that maximum use is made thereof.

• Organizes and directs the implementation of on-the-job training of assigned personnel. Conducts annual performance reviews in accordance with approved procedures and holds career development discussions.

• Establishes and maintains communication with project engineers, engineering supervisors in charge of related disciplines, and with administrative personnel within the project. Consults with equipment suppliers, technical specialists and client representatives as directed to provide and receive technical information.

• Responsible for assigned activities within an engineering or design discipline in a GBU on a project or program. Applies broad and diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices to project engineering in the preparation of complex designs and deliverables under the direction of an engineer. Makes decisions independently concerning problems with the discipline on the project. Represents the discipline on the project and with the client to resolve technical questions and as required to coordinate work.

Qualifications and Skills

Basic Qualifications:

• Specialized courses in drafting, design and engineering practices, and CAD, or a recognized degree in a job-related engineering or scientific discipline.

• Extensive experience in design and drafting and experience in personnel administration.

• Broad knowledge of design and drafting techniques, engineering drawings, graphic arts, reading of drawings and reproduction methods used by the discipline. Skill in reading, interpreting, and using related documents and drawings prepared by other project groups. Knowledge of the application of engineering and construction materials related to the discipline's design responsibilities. Knowledge of discipline Design Guides, mathematical formulae and design calculations used in the discipline. Knowledge of procedures used for the procurement and quantity control of bulk materials applicable to the discipline.

• Knowledge of industry and regulatory standards, design criteria and codes relevant to the discipline.

• Broad knowledge of 2-D and 3-D computer aided drafting (CAD) tools.

• Knowledge of technical responsibilities of other groups associated with the total design effort. Demonstrated skill in organizing and supervising.

Specific experience in planning and executing greenfield or brownfield projects in one or more of the following market segments:

• Natural gas processing including liquefaction and regasification.

• Coal, gas, or biomass to chemicals such as methanol and ammonia.

• Petrochemicals such as HDPE, LDPE, MEG, PET, PTA, PVC, and others.

• Carbon capture and sequestration.

• Solar and/or combined cycle power plants.

• Hydrogen value chain including electrolysis, reforming, liquefaction, transportation and fueling stations.

• Offshore and onshore pipelines.

• Desalination, raw water, demineralized water and wastewater treatment plants.

• Familiarity with current process technologies and licensors associated with the above.

Must have Qualifications:

• Must be proficient in the use and application of international design standards including IEC and NFPA 70 (National Electrical Code).

• Demonstrated proficiency and experience in Microstation, SmartSketch, S3D is required.

• Demonstrated proficiency and experience in SmartPlant Instrumentation (SPI) is required.

• Demonstrated experienced reviewing Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) is required.

• Ability to independently produce instrument location plans, wiring and loop diagrams, instrument installation details, instrument hookup details.

• Ability to independently model instruments, instrument junction's boxes, remote I/O panels, etc. S3D.

• Ability to develop innovative ideas to reduce project total installed costs (TIC).

• Previous experience in reviewing complex vendor packages including compressors, thermal oxidizers, heaters, gas turbine generators.

• Demonstrated prior experience/performance on Petrochemical and LNG projects.

• Previous experience preparing estimated quantities, job hour estimates, and schedule planning is strongly preferred.

**About the Role:**
As a Control Systems Technician, you will focus on equipment troubleshooting and maintaining material handling equipment (MHE) such as conveyors, sortation systems, scanners, cameras, print and apply labeling systems, scales, HMI systems, and control cabinets. In addition to developing your skills, you will mentor junior technicians to grow in their roles.
**Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:**
+ Promote a safe working environment by following all safety procedures
+ Maintain material handling control systems, industrial, motor control systems, servo and frequency drives, and electrical distribution systems
+ Monitor Material Handling Equipment (MHE) metrics and partner with Controls Technicians and Mechanics to resolve equipment electrical problems that create performance deficiencies
+ Utilize Operation System Assessment reports to improve material handling system reliability through preventive maintenance tasks completion and identifies deficiency repairs
+ Escalate to operations and network support resources for guidance and assistance to restore equipment back to operational mode with minimal downtime impact for Operations
+ Communicate technical issues to RME and Operations Leadership
**Basic Qualifications:**
+ High school or equivalent diploma
+ 2+ years of experience with Motor Controls (motor starts, variable frequency drives, DC drives, and standard electrical components)
+ 2+ years of experience with repair of control network components
+ 1+ years of experience with HMI components
+ 1+ years of experience with Programmable Logic Controls (PLC) programs
+ 1+ years of experience with Industrial electrical hands-on experience and troubleshooting
**Preferred Qualifications:**
+ Associates degree in Electronic Technology (or similar)
+ 2+ years apprenticeship or equivalent experience in Control Systems troubleshooting/ programming
+ Experience supporting a range of different conveyors and sortation systems
+ Project Management experience with the ability to train others
+ Experience with robotic maintenance
+ Experience with AB RS LOGIX 5000 PLC's and PLC components
+ Experience with SCADA systems and KPI's
**PHYSICAL DEMANDS:**
