Purpose of the Job:

The purpose of this job is to administer and maintain the process control systems and IT systems for both the INEOS and The Dow Chemical Company production plants.

Responsibilities AND Accountabilities
Accountability 1:

SHE

  • Maintain and control the safe and efficient operation of the production unit using established operating disciplines and procedures.

  • Conduct routine AsCare tours and participate in audits
  • Investigate incidents, abnormal conditions and lead/assist with root cause investigations
  • Complete all responsibilities as an Asset Engineer
    • Develop and maintain a list of critical assets and protective systems that must be maintained at the site
    • Develop and ensure compliance to a schedule to test critical assets and protective equipment.
  • Develop and ensure compliance to a procedure to impair/bypass safety protective systems

Manufacturing Excellence

Most important activities
  • Provide day-to-day process control support for the INEOS and Dow assets which includes preparation and support for unit shutdowns, turnarounds, and start-ups.
    • Troubleshoot process, process alarm, DCS and process control network issues
    • Regulatory and advanced control loop tuning and monitoring of control loop performance
    • Control strategy improvements
    • Daily process performance monitoring (e.g. quality, environmental, energy, stability, reliability, etc.)
  • Subject matter expert for the Dow proprietary control system.
  • Train/Support operation staff on reading and understanding the Dow MOD V process control codes

    • I/O assignment, redundancy, control philosophy development, design, documentation and implementation

    • Participate in the MOC process including leading appropriate MOCs

Essential Job Duties:

  • Provide recommendations on up-to-date process control systems and cost-effective technologies.
  • Assist operating facility's DCS operations and performance by providing technical support and troubleshooting and recommend the development of programs for improvement.
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge in, specifying field instrumentation, specifying analyzer systems, developing schematics including motor controls, interfacing third party packages to the DCS/SIS systems.
  • Oversee the field construction, verification of proper installation, performance of loop checks and the oversight of final commissioning of DCS/PLC equipment and instrumentation associated with capital projects.
  • Define spare parts and preventative maintenance requirements for DCS and related components.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related field with 5- 20 years of DCS design, programming, troubleshooting, and maintenance experience, or a Class 1 Instrument technician with 3 years' experience and some DCS familiarity and direct programmable logic controller experience, or DCS technician with a minimum of 2 years direct DCS configuration experience.
  • Additional desired qualifications: Honeywell Experion/TDC3000 DCS experience, Triconex PLC experience, Allen Bradley ControlLogix PLC experience.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

As a Responsible for managing and developing the systems used to monitor, control, and regulate operations and processes at the Pinto Valley Concentrator and Tailings Plants. The process control specialist also has a leading role supporting field equipment troubleshooting of electrical issues as well as identifying strategies to preserve the function of servers and network hardware. This position works closely with the electrical, metallurgical, operations, IT and assets and engineering teams to design and develop effective solutions to optimize control loops, maintenance strategies and provide expertise, knowledge and guidance for all areas related to control engineering.

  • Demonstrate commitment to safety and Capstone’s Values in Action.
  • Process Control Management: Lead development and optimization of advanced control strategies, PLC logic, and equipment interlocks to enhance plant stability and throughput. Summary

A Controls Specialist (CS) is responsible for installation, commissioning, scheduled and emergency service on products serviced by Fairbanks Morse Defense commensurate with appropriate certification. What Would a Typical Day Look Like?

  • Technically, Controls Specialists will work on various stages of automation and control projects including electrical design, PLC programming HMI design SCADA systems and troubleshooting/testing/debugging
  • You will exercise Project Management skills by assisting with quoting, materials ordering and budgeting
  • Participate in planning sessions that will identify industry business drivers and trends that will serve as the basis for developing key offerings to our clients, attend client field service and emergency calls and partake in customer meetings sharing your technical expertise


What Qualifies You for this Opportunity?

  • An Engineering Degree or Technology Diploma in Electrical, Mechatronics, Systems Design, or related program
  • Experience in the Automation industry as an Engineer, Technologist and/or project manager, technically delivering on projects is an asset
  • A keen interest to work with PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC-5, SLC500, ControlLogix), HMI Programming, AutoCAD/Electrical Design, Debug/Testing/Commissioning
