**Essential Duties and Responsibilities**
+ The **Controls Engineer** will support the maintenance department by assisting in equipment troubleshooting issues, including PLC ladder logic and data handling functions in Control Logix processors
+ Maintain PLC documentation upon receipt from equipment suppliers and an archive of PLC programs & machine controls drawings in an electronic format for the entire facility
+ Maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and improve automated equipment including devices, I/O, instruments, and all other components associate with automated processes to meet production and safety goals
+ Support various I/O devices connected to PLC's including HMI's, scanners, remote I/O, sensors, relays, solenoids, servo drives, etc.
+ Improve equipment uptime and contribute to Plant reliability maintenance
+ Schedule and complete backups of all electronic machine control and robotic programs on a set schedule and develop and maintain Preventive Maintenance Programs
+ Ability to diagnose problems with hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems interfacing with electrical and electronic systems
+ Applies knowledge of electronic and instrumentation principles to determine equipment malfunctions and applies skills in restoring equipment to operation
+ Implement and maintain data collection system from Plant floor processing equipment
+ Identify and implement error-proofing requirements throughout the production process
**Educational Required**
+ Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field, and/or equivalent work experience.
**Experience Required & Preferred**
+ Minimum 2 years of Controls Engineering experience in a manufacturing setting (automotive is preferred).
+ Experience using Allen Bradley's RS Logix 5000, ControLogix, Panelview and FT Optix development software is a must.
+ Robotics experience with Fanuc.
+ Hands-on experience with JIT, Kaizen Events and/or other lean manufacturing strategies.
+ Robot cell design and programming.
+ Industrial networking.
+ System specification, ordering, run-off, installation and qualification.
+ Capital equipment budget planning and tracking.
+ Strong computer skills with ability to quickly learn new software/applications.

With supervision, reviews and analyzes engineering requirements to determine and design technical and business solutions for projects that require capital investment. Determine system requirement success criteria and select equipment that meets the best cost, schedule, and performance needs. **Position Responsibilities**
+ This position involves significant communication and coordination with multiple stakeholders (e.g., Operations, Finance, EHS and RQI).
+ External interaction will include, however, is not limited to, Offsite Conagra Teams, equipment vendors, construction contractors, engineering services contractors, and co-manufacturing organizations.
+ For projects up to $2MM, develops Front-End-Loading packages (FEL's) that are complete, clear, concise, and reflecting thorough due diligence to ensure project success. FEL packages include, but are not limited to: Technology assessment and recommended solutions reflecting plant, ConAgra, and industry best-in-class practices; Physical location and general arrangement placements (drawing level); Infrastructure requirements and needs assessment; Work with Engineering Project Manager to determine preliminary Capital / Expense Estimates; Work with the Engineering Project Manager to determine a design schedule that meets that overall project schedule requirements; Equipment / System Performance criteria; Identification of Alternatives, Pre-requisites, Risks, and Opportunities; Write detailed functional control descriptions for the unit operation and packaging systems recommended by the Engineer.
+ PLC/logic writing and troubleshooting/debugging.
+ Network admin work/Familiarity with server room equipment and virtual servers and management of them.
+ For small projects up to $MM reviews Technical Briefs providing technical guidance to project team
+ May manage small projects independently
+ Participate and execute experiments in plant trials
+ Prepare and present technical reports to supervisor, both written and oral
+ Interpret, develop, and issue technical specifications
+ Work to develop subject matter expertise of the packaging principals and operating systems for assigned areas
+ This candidate will have a fundamental understanding of a food manufacturing environment, a technical knowledge of equipment and may develop project management skills that can be applied to small low complexity business initiatives
+ Keep current with latest food packaging technology and commercial applications.

**Position Qualifications**
+ BS or MS degree in Mechanical Engineering, Robotics Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Packaging Engineering (with emphasis on equipment).
+ Equipment Engineering emphasis is required in addition to practical experience of 2 years in food manufacturing and food packaging system design.
+ Internships or Co-op in food manufacturing a plus.
+ Proficient using AutoCAD software
+ Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project)
+ Technical knowledge and understanding of manufacturing systems and equipment
+ Demonstrated leadership, organizational and effective communication skills

**Summary:**
Provide support for process improvements, performance monitoring, root cause analysis, engineering, and construction activities, and operating and maintenance functions to ensure safe and efficient plant operation.
**Duties and Responsibilities:**
+ Provide direction to operations and maintenance departments to ensure that plant equipment remains reliable. This includes both technical and financial decisions which impact the overall unit availability and cost control.
+ Provide technical support, testing and inspection expertise within their assigned process areas to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient plant operation.

+ Develop O&M and Capital budgets for the process equipment. Assemble ten-year plans and budgets for projects to establish accurate projected cash flows out into the future.
+ Develop strategic plans for equipment overhauls to optimize equipment life and time between overhauls.
+ Develop outage schedules, coordinate, and perform outage inspections for all process equipment.
+ Utilize predictive and preventative maintenance (PM/PDM) techniques to monitor and improve equipment. Evaluate and analyze process variables to identify status and trending of key operating parameters.
+ Conduct root cause analysis of equipment problems and provide recommendations to prevent future incidents. Assemble all equipment failure reports.
+ Develop, review & revise station procedures & technical instructions and documentation of equipment testing and inspections.
+ Provide engineering, design, economic justification, and specify parts and materials for projects and modifications. Implement projects and process modifications.
+ Conduct or procure training as required within their process.
+ Interface with outside engineering resources on an "as-needed" basis.
+ Work effectively in a team environment as a leader, member and/or facilitator.
+ Perform other duties and assignments as required.
**Essential Functions for Emphasis:**
+ Experience with Siemens and/or WDPF Digital Control Systems (DCS).

You'll work closely with the Director of Project Management and collaborate extensively with the Sr. Program Manager to support and optimize automated control systems across diverse environments.
Key Responsibilities
+ Lead and mentor junior technicians, providing technical guidance and support.
+ Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and internal teams.
+ Troubleshoot control system issues and perform basic PLC programming (Allen Bradley & Siemens).
+ Interpret electrical schematics and design control panels with precision.
+ Drive system improvements through innovative control strategies.
+ Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols and PPE usage.
+ Use hand/powered tools and electrical testing devices proficiently.
+ Operate AutoCAD and PLC software for diagnostics and documentation.
+ Provide remote support via VNC, VPN, and HMI/SCADA platforms.
+ Communicate effectively with client stakeholders to resolve system faults.
+ Redline and interpret AutoCAD Electrical schematics for troubleshooting.
+ Make authorized PLC code changes within established standards.
+ Maintain detailed service logs and documentation.
+ Draft and revise standard operating procedures and technical documentation.
+ Review system drawings during off-call hours to ensure readiness.
+ Escalate unresolved issues to engineering or development teams.
Required Qualifications
+ Associate degree or technical training in electrical, automation, or control systems.
+ Minimum 5 years of field experience in airport systems (e.g., passenger boarding bridges, baggage handling) and theme parks.
+ Strong troubleshooting skills with Allen Bradley and Siemens PLCs.
+ Experience reading and annotating AutoCAD Electrical schematics.
+ Proven ability to work independently and lead technical teams.
+ Strong project management and multitasking abilities.
+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
+ Comfortable working in high-pressure, dynamic environments.
+ Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without current or future sponsorship.
+ Proficient in ladder logic and function block diagram interpretation.
+ Ability to navigate and modify existing PLC code.
+ Experience with industrial network diagnostics and remote access tools.
+ Familiarity with HMI/SCADA systems; advanced Ignition users preferred.
+ Strong documentation and reporting skills.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $43.00 - $58.00/hr.
