Job Description:
- Responsible for the designing, engineering, and procuring mechanical and electrical equipment and systems for the assembly area.

We are seeking a skilled Controls Engineer to manage the installation and launch of conveyor systems for major automotive plants. The role involves engagement from the build phase to the launch phase, including troubleshooting and debugging at various customer sites.
Responsibilities
+ Handle the installation and launch for conveyor systems at GM Lake Orion, Ford Lorain, and GM Lansing projects.
+ Participate in the build phase in-house and continue through to the launch phase at customer sites.
+ Troubleshoot and debug systems within the specified platform.
+ Program from templates and follow the project from build, installation, to startup.
+ Work actively on the plant floor across various project phases.
+ Ensure timelines and deadlines set by customers are met.
Essential Skills

+ Support the maintenance department by assisting in the _troubleshooting_ of equipment issues, which includes _troubleshooting_ _PLC_ ladder logic and data handling functions in Control Logix processors.
+ Maintain _PLC_ documentation upon receipt from equipment suppliers and an archive of _PLC_ programs and machine controls drawings in an electronic and/or paper format and throughout facility.
+ Maintain, _troubleshoot_ , repair and improve automated equipment including devices, I/O, instruments and all other components associate with automated processes to meet production and safety goals.
+ Support various I/O devices connected to _PLC_ 's including HMI's, scanners, remote I/O, sensors, relays, solenoids, servo drives, etc., and support/assist maintenance personnel in _troubleshooting_ pneumatic circuits.

As Controls Engineer, you will be responsible for programming, servicing, and retrofitting large commercial energy management systems, and integrating various proprietary controls systems. This person may also be tasked with supervising or directing the work of entry-level technicians and installers.

Summary
Coordinates the planning, organization, control, integration of all automation projects at UTEC and customer sites. Requires extensive knowledge of all technical aspects of robot & PLC programming. This position supervises the execution of the commissioning and customer production support phases of all UTEC automation projects from engineering handoff to customer site buyoff.

Sets budgetary goals for Robot & PLC Programmers.
Sets Robot & PLC Programmer working hours, based on schedule and build status.
Plans manpower requirements in conjunction with the project management team based on budgets and timing.
Participates in selecting contract vendors and personnel with the HR department.
Reports weekly manpower forecasts to the Director of Engineering.
Reports weekly to Director of Engineering, current project progress by means of percentage complete and hourly budget concerns.
Presents any scheduling discrepancies to Project Management.
Attends job related meetings with Project Management when necessary.
Verifies that Robot and PLC Programmers are tracking progress verses budgets.
Supports the Robot / PLC Programming Team with technical information and help solve problems.
Assists as needed to coordinate offline programming between Simulation and Robot Programming.
Verifies that the system is within designed cycle time.
Conducts weekly meetings with Robot & PLC Programmers as needed.
Coordinates the Robot and PLC resources for field service activities.
