- Drive continuous improvement of product quality, through reduction and prevention of non-conformances while defining and implementing metrics to evaluate the impact of continuous improvement initiatives
- Support suppliers in 8D responses and regular quality resolution update meetings, including written investigation reports and review supplier corrective actions

As part of Structural Systems Engineering, you will help engineer world class structural systems and components on all of Ford's ever-evolving platforms including unibody, body on frame, ICE, and EV architectures. Components included in Structural Systems are body in white, battery trays, full frames, sub frames, body mounts, skid plates, trailer hitches, tow/recovery hooks, heat shields, and spare tire winches.
Core engineering is responsible for all Structures core documents as well as assisting component design engineers with the design, testing, sign off, and launch of cost effective high quality structural systems and components
**In this position.**
+ Institutionalize knowledge and best practices by authoring core documents including engineering requirements, design rules, engineering specifications, test methods, and failure mode avoidance documents such as quality history, interface diagrams, boundary diagrams, DFMEA, critical and significant characteristics.
+ Develop, author, and implement standards based permanent corrective actions and training to correct systemic failures and escape points.
+ Ensure component engineers are designing, testing, and signing off components with quality by conducting design reviews and reviewing and approving DVP&R evidence as part of the engineering sign off process.

This is a deep systems role for someone who lives and breathes lakehouse internals, knows open source cold, and wants to push the limits of whats possible with Delta, Iceberg, and Parquet at petabyte scale.
- Own the ACID backbone. Design and harden Delta and Iceberg transaction layers so that petabyte-scale tables can time-travel in microseconds and schema evolution becomes a non-event.
- Turn metadata into rocket fuel. Build compaction, caching, and pruning services that keep millions of file pointers within 50ms from lookup to plan.
- Squeeze more signal per byte. Optimize Parquet layoutsfrom column ordering to dictionary and bit-packing, bloom filters, and zone-map indexesto cut scan I/O by 10x on real-world workloads.
- Ship adaptive indexing with research. Co-invent machine-driven indexes that learn access patterns and automatically re-partition nightlyno more manual analyze table ever again.
