Job Description
The selected candidate will provide on-site academic instruction and on-equipment proficiency training to Navy and Marine Corps personnel, technical specialists, and other Government employees, on the prevention, inspection, and treatment of corrosion on Navy and USMC aviation support equipment.
They will assist, train, and demonstrate the best methods of prevention, inspection, and treatment of corrosion.
Provide advice on supply support problems, and/or cross-reference of manufacturer-to-Navy part numbers.
Provide advice on the identification of, and instruction on the use of special tools, handling equipment, and test equipment associated with and related to corrosion control.
Provide corrosion control information to operations and maintenance personnel.
Provide technical advice and assistance in accident investigations, failure data reports, and material deficiency reports.
Provide recommended changes to existing weapon systems/equipment corrosion control technical manuals in technical reports for use by the Government in preparing Technical Publications Deficiency Reports.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Equipment Specialist/CETS (Material Readiness Technician (MRT)) positions support the NAE Corrosion Management Board (CMB), Fleet Support Teams (FST) and Aircraft Type Wings/MALS. The incumbent will assist in the aircraft Corrosion Control and Periodic Maintenance Interval (PMI) programs, to include the following tasks:
(1) Observe and participate in Organizational Level Material Condition Inspections (MCI), Periodic Maintenance Interval (PMI) and MRC events to improve Organizational Level awareness of corrosion-prone areas.
(2) Collect maintenance data on corrosion prevention methods and training to recognize defective methodologies and conditions that could potentially induce corrosion.
(3) Provide maintainers and Maintenance Readiness Team (MRT) lead Organizational Level data entry issues/solutions to improve Reliability Centered Maintenance data collection and analysis.
(4) Facilitate corrosion control training in a formal and practical setting to include corrosion prevention, inspection, identification, treatment, and documentation techniques applicable to assigned aircraft platforms.
(5) Assist Organizational Level activities with CNAF 4790.2 Focus Area List (FAL) execution.
(6) Provide reports/recommendations in coordination with MRT Lead on requirements to reduce corrosion in-service repairs (ISR), and on improving aircraft incoming material condition at Periodic Maintenance Interval (PMI) events.
Additional Notes:
This position may be required to work or travel to sites which could include environments that are located at or near weapons magazine areas, flight decks, flight line ramps, aircraft spots, combat zones, and weapon ready-service areas.
Qualifications:
Education/Experience: A High School diploma AND Technical Training in a relevant technical field is required. Three (3) years of practical hands-on experience within the past five (5) years AND two (2) years of this experience must be at or above the military E5 level or non-military equivalent experience is also required

Job Description
Work will include the following: Knowledge of surface peculiarities and types of paint and rust treatment chemicals required for different types of metals. As directed grinds, sands, cleans, preserves, and prepares metal surfaces for painting. Job will include rust removal, rust treatment, paint, preparing surfaces on all types of equipment, cranes, vehicles and machinery using various hand tools such as but not limited to needle gun or scaler, chippers, sanders, grinders, putt knives, and drills. Job will also include applying surfaces, with brush, roller, spray gun, and other equipment to obtain desirable results of color, coating, film, thickness, coverage and protection. Must be able to position and operate equipment including needle gun, compressors, receivers, water separators, filters, and hoses. May mix colors, oils, and thinners to obtain proper color or consistency. In general, the work of the corrosion control technician requires rounded training and experience usually acquired through a formal apprenticeship or equivalent training experience. + Must have thorough knowledge of paints, thinner, and lacquers and have good color perception.
+ Must be able to read and comprehend mix ratios and minimum surface preparation as required by paint manufacturers.
+ Must be able to work with protective coatings to include but not limited to thinners, lacquers, epoxies, cleaners, inorganic zinc coatings, polyamide epoxy coatings, aliphatic polyurethanes, and epoxy mastic coatings.
+ Must be able to work at various heights, including work from mechanical lifting devices.
+ Must possess a valid state driver's license.
+ Must have and wear hard-toed safety shoes which meet ASTM F standards

**JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES**
The Corrosion Technician I Position is assigned, but not limited to an operational area where they are responsible for the following:
+ Compliance surveys and all associated inspections (e.g., annual test points, isolated services, casings, bonds, foreign crossings) in compliance with applicable codes, standards, and procedures.
+ Basic and timely cathodic protection troubleshooting.
+ Timely creation of remediation work orders (e.g., install anodes, clear short, install insulator, repair / replace test station). Follows through with necessary departments to ensure timely completion.
+ Alternating Current (AC) Monitoring and Mitigation
+ Maintenance and updates of corrosion control mapping systems (GIS) in a timely fashion.
+ Troubleshooting and maintenance of rectifiers
+ Maintaining half-cells in accordance with procedures
+ Atmospheric inspection of exposed pipe spans in accordance with applicable codes, standards, and procedures.
+ Monitoring of corrosion control records to ensure compliance in the company designated databases and database systems.
+ Generate reports from company designated database systems as needed.
+ Analysis of survey data.
+ Provides relevant support / inspection for cathodic protection needs on engineering / construction projects.
+ Provides corrosion control-related support to internal departments or external contract support.
+ Accurately enters new facilities and compliance data into the appropriate system of record in a timely fashion.
+ Participates as needed in regulatory audits to ensure compliance.
+ Maintain a safe work environment.
**Qualifications - Corrosion Technician I**
The Corrosion Technician Level I position is the lowest fully skilled position in the Corrosion Job Family. A Corrosion Technician I may enter the role with related or direct corrosion control experience. The Corrosion Technician I should be able to work independently in a safe manner to complete routine surveys, inspections, and remediation or maintenance with minimum to no support. A Corrosion Technician I is required to a demonstrate a knowledge of procedures, company policies, safety systems, federal and state codes, and equipment, exhibit safe work habits, and have the necessary qualifications under the company's OQ policy.
**Education, Certifications/Licenses:**
**Required:**
+ Associate degree - technical / trade school with math, electrical, or science-based curriculum
OR
+ High school diploma with equivalent combination of education and experience
+ The Corrosion Control Management Team will evaluate a candidate's equivalent education and experience to determine if the individual meets the qualifications for the position.
+ Must possess a valid driver's license.
**Progression Requirements:**
+ A Level I technician may be evaluated to progress to a level II technician after serving in the level I technician role for a minimum of two (2) years.
+ A Level I is required to successfully progress to a level 2 technician within six (6) years after becoming a level I technician or vacate the position.
**NOTE: In certain operational areas, this job is part of a bargaining agreement. Any deviation to the progression requirements as part of a bargaining agreement will take precedence over the requirements listed above.**

Incumbent uses various substances and tools to install, inspect, repair, maintain, adjust and control corrosion on impressed current and sacrificial anode cathodic protection systems at an advanced level.
**Essential Duties & Job Functions:**
- Uses hand tools, precision instruments, and other specialized equipment to install, inspect, repair, maintain, and adjust impressed current and sacrificial anode cathodic protection systems.
- Prepares test instruments, conducts field tests, records and collects data for the preparation of reports.
- Prepares preliminary analysis of data to determine appropriate response actions that may include generation of repair work, or referral of information for advanced analysis by Registered Mechanical Engineer, who provides technical guidance on corrosion control requirements.
- Prepares technical reports using PC-based systems that are pre-formatted for data collection, maintenance, and report generation using fundamental personal computer skills.
- Removes, repairs, restores and applies industrial coatings used to control corrosion and routine cleaning/maintenance of associated equipment.
- Maintains, repairs and/or replaces cathodic protection systems.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

- Thorough familiarity with repairing electrical and electronic application of all Cathodic Protection equipment and devices.
- Thorough familiarity with electrical and electronic test equipment.
- Ability to determine the selection and application of industrial protective coatings.
- Basic math and communications skills.
- Ability to read and interpret simple blueprints, schematics, and technical specifications.
- Ability to meet and maintain company physical and security requirements, including respirator qualification, and clearance eligibility when required.
- Must possess good communication skills for a service team environment.
- Valid state driver's license with acceptable driving record
- Ability to successfully pass any background checks and/or drug testing required on the contract.

The Marine Corps Prepositioning Program (MCPP) is based in Jacksonville, Florida. We provide maintenance and logistic services to the U.S. Marine Corps (USMC) in support of this program. For over 35 years we have planned, coordinated, and executed the maintenance and logistic services for ground combat vehicles and support equipment for USMC Expeditionary Forces.
Job Summary
Performs duties involved with setting up, operating, and performing preventative maintenance on complete stationary and portable sandblasting equipment and machines used for cleaning metal and nonmetal surfaces. Performs duties involving the application of coating materials (i.e., paint, varnish, lacquer, shellac, etc.), on wood, metal, glass, concrete and other surfaces, using brushes, rollers, spray guns, and other related methods and techniques. Provides technical assistance, guidance, or training to lower level painters and assists higher level painters. Performs other tasks as assigned.
Basic Qualifications
+ High School graduate or equivalent.
+ Eight years directly related work experience.
+ Complete the Vehicle Body Repair Course or equivalent.
+ Apprenticeship as a painter/sandblaster is preferred.
+ Must possess a valid State motor vehicle operator license and able to obtain and maintain a Tactical Operator License as necessary.
+ Working knowledge of the operating and preventive maintenance features of sandblasting equipment and machines, cleaning characteristics of metals and nonmetals, cutting or abrasive quality of a variety of sand-like abrasives, and the optimum air pressures with specific abrasives to obtain desired finish without damage to work pieces.
+ Ability and skill to position and hold work pieces and blasting nozzles, and perform blasting operations and procedures in a safe manner.
+ Working knowledge of OSHA, SPCC, and EPA regulations concerning sandblasting procedures and the use and disposal of sandblast materials.
+ Complete the Small Boat Preservation Course, or equivalent.
+ Working knowledge of standard surface preparation and coating methods and techniques.
+ Apprenticeship as a painter in a shipyard environment.
+ Working knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations, Steel Structures Painting Council (SSPC) standards, National Association of Corrosion Engineers (NACE) standards, and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulations concerning painting.
+ Medically and physically capable of wearing a respirator.
+ Able to climb ladders, work in confined spaces, in extremely high or low temperatures and at heights.
+ Able to lift 50 pounds unaided.
+ Ability to comply with all established methods, safety standards, quality standards, and time schedules applicable to this position.
