**Purpose**

**Do the Work**
+ Interpret technical specifications, contract requirements, engineering drawings, and standard construction details on a variety of public works projects.
+ Ensure that work is completed in general accordance with drawings and specifications.
+ Perform daily field reporting, track contractor's installed quantities, witness tests, document test results and serve as liaison between engineer, contractor, and adjacent residents and businesses.
+ Perform field inspections on a variety of projects involving the construction and/or rehabilitation of public building facilities, roadway (including slurry seal, rehabilitation of roads, and various types of asphalt), parks, and municipal water, wastewater, storm drain and dry utilities and other infrastructure. Work within the bounds of various construction methods, construction of water and wastewater treatment structures and equipment installation, as well as mechanical and structural rehabilitations.
+ Prepare sketches and assemble data for field engineer's use in making project changes.
+ Review periodic pay estimates for accuracy with contractor.
+ Apply knowledge of construction methods of water, sewer, storm drain and dry utility pipe installations, including open trenching and trenchless methods such as jack and bore and directional drilling.
+ Apply knowledge of trenchless sewer rehabilitation methods.
+ May work on one or more projects simultaneously.

Full Job Description
Job Summary:
Transports, and administers basic life support treatment, to sick or injured persons in the pre-hospital and inter-facility settings, as authorized by the local EMS Agency Medical Director, by performing the following duties, within the prescribed scope of practice and all applicable regulatory guidelines for pre-hospital care.
Essential Functions:
- Responds to instructions from emergency medical dispatcher and drives the specially equipped emergency vehicle to specified locations and hospitals. Monitors communication equipment to maintain contact with the dispatcher.
- Determines nature and extent of illness or injury, or magnitude of catastrophe, to establish basic life support procedures to be followed or need for additional assistance, basing decisions on statements of persons involved, examination of victim or victims, and knowledge of emergency medical practice.
- Removes or assists in removal of victims from vehicles, or the scene of an accident or catastrophe, and assists in the transfer of victims to receiving facilities. Assists in controlling crowds, protecting valuables, or performing other duties at scene of an accident or catastrophe.
- Takes and records patient's vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, and respiratory rate. Administers prescribed treatment at the site of an emergency, or in specially equipped vehicles, performing such activities as first aid, immobilization of injuries, application of splints, administration of oxygen, treatment of minor wounds or abrasions, or administration of basic life support procedures.
- Assists admitting and billing personnel to obtain and record information related to the patient's vital statistics and to establish the necessity for medical transportation.
- Maintains vehicles, medical and communication equipment and replenishes equipment and supplies. Completes field care report patient billing /trip ticket and daily driver's unit checkout form.
- Participates in Quality Improvement activities including chart audits, peer reviews and focused studies.
- Participates in continuing education activities as a student, instructor, and proctor.
- Participate in Safety and Risk training and activities.
- Serves as a company representative promoting positive customer relationships through proactive involvement in public business and community activities.
- Ensures a safe and productive work environment. Be a steward of safety, that you and your peers operate safely, in an environment free from danger and risk.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Reviews paperwork for accuracy and correct process.
- Must participate in scheduled and unscheduled onsite compliance audits.
- Implements corrective/preventive measures as determined by the Corporate Compliance/Audit Committee.
- Cooperates with Internal Audit, Compliance and People Operations on any recommendations and changes to compliance and legal workflow issues.
- Takes swift and immediate action in accordance with Internal Audit and Corporate Compliance on any areas of concern.
- Complies and enforces all policies and procedures.
- Has successfully completed all required Compliance Training within the required time period.
- Has had no compliance-related corrective action during the current review period.
- Participate in Safety and Risk training and activities.

- Current California Ambulance Driver's Certificate (DL 61).
- Current State of California EMT-1 Certification.
- Current Medical Examiner's Certificate (MCSA-5876).
- Current CPR/BLS Certification.
- Current Orange County Ambulance Driver/Attendant License.
- Ability to obtain City of Los Angeles DOT permit.
