**What will you be doing in this role?**
Under the supervision of the Associate Director, Nursing - Pediatrics the Supervisor, Child Life Services assists in the quality improvement process, program development, supervising/mentoring of staff, and performs other administrative duties as assigned while using the appropriate chain of command, as needed. The Supervisor, Child Life Services as an expert clinician, uses knowledge base, leadership and educational skills to direct and supervise the clinical performance of the Child Life staff. The Supervisor also serves as a resource person to the clinical staff and is responsible for providing developmental interventions, emotional support, therapeutic play and health related education to patients and families based on assessment as needed to all pediatric patients/families in the Medical Center. The Supervisor, Child Life Services will function in accordance with the Association of Child Life Professionals Scope of Practice and the Child Life Code of Ethics. The Supervisor collaborates with other members of the healthcare team to oversee and provide hospital pre-admission tours, emergency department interventions, grief and bereavement support, coordination of special events as approved by the Medical Center.
Duties and Responsibilities:
+ Supervises day-to-day management of patient Child Life care assuring Cedars Sinai IPE and safety standards are met.
+ Monitors and reports on the productivity and the quality of services provided by the Child Life team.
+ Oversees the completion of mandatory employee competencies to meet regulatory requirements in collaboration with the Pediatric leadership team.
+ Supervises the daily operations of the Child Life department, providing budget oversight and reports to management.
+ Advises staff on patients' developmental and behavioral issues and complements the plan of care for the patient.

We are seeking a Hospital Child Life Services Manager to:
- Lead the team of 28 and the robust services in place to help support children and families through a variety of different healthcare experiences
- Support canine programming
- Collaborate with key stakeholders throughout the organization and community around events and philanthropic efforts which the Child Life program is solely funded.

Education :
Minimum - Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in a relevant subject area such as Child Life, Child Development, Therapeutic Recreation, Psychology or other related field
Preferred - Master's degree in Child Life, Child Development or Therapeutic Recreation. Master's degree in Business Administration or Health Care Administration acceptable if Bachelor's degree is in Child Life, Child Development or Therapeutic Recreation.
Work Experience :
Minimum - Three years of managerial experience related to child life services for a children's hospital or five years managerial experience in a healthcare setting.
Preferred - Experience in an academic setting including both inpatient and outpatient.
Licenses and Certifications :
Preferred - Certification as a Child Life Specialists by Association of Child Life Professionals

The incumbent is accountable for a defined patient population based upon the child's age and developmental needs for a designated period of time.

About Us:
The Child Life Department, comprised of specialists, assistants, a coordinator, and a music therapist, helpschildren understand and cope with medical experiences. Focusing on developmental needs, Child Life provides education, play and emotional support for patients and their families. Child Life Specialists are assigned to cover various areas throughout the hospital. As part of the medical team, Child Life Specialists collaborate with staff within the hospital to help meet the needs of the patient. Some of the services include: Illness, hospital, and treatment education Surgery and procedure preparation and support Therapeutic and recreation play activities Coordinate special events, entertainment and activities Grief and bereavement support Child Life Assistants oversee the Playroom and George's Clubhouse which help children do what they do best: play! In these spaces- away from medical tests and procedures - children can enjoy arts, crafts, music, games, reading, movies and video games. The Playroom also hosts events like Bingo, holiday events, music programs, as well as special guests. Bedside activities are available to children unable to come to the Playroom.

EXPERIENCE:
- Bilingual skills preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in Child Life or related field of study required.
- Master's Degree preferred.
- Certified Child Life Specialist (CCLS) or Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) within 12 months of hire or transfer into position required.
- Completion of 600 hour internship prior to start required.
