About the job:
The APRN - NP Specialty provides acute healthcare services for specialty health conditions in specific populations in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice and with the policies, values, and mission of the organization.
This position will practice in the ICU rotating between our three main campuses.
They will work a night shift / rotating schedule, 12 hour days.
What you need:
+ Education: Masters required in Science, Nursing or Specialty field. Graduate of an Advanced Practitioner program or Physician Assistant program.
+ Licensure / Certification: Current license to practice as a registered nurse in the State of Ohio

Scope of Position
The Critical Care Laboratory (CCL) provides comprehensive, time sensitive laboratory services to patients with a variety of diagnoses and admission/discharge criteria. The CCL utilizes a state of the art total laboratory automation (TLA) system that processes and delivers specimens to automated chemistry, immunochemistry, hematology, and coagulation analyzers. Additional areas of testing in the CCL include specialized coagulation, urinalysis, body fluid, blood gas, rapid molecular, and kit testing. The lab provides training for residents, new staff and medical technology students. The laboratory is staffed 24 hours per day, Sunday through Saturday and services all OSUWMC inpatient areas as well as the University Reference Laboratory and OSU Physician Office testing needs.
Position Summary
This medical technologist works as part of a dynamic team to perform routine automated and manual procedures, verify and report test requests, troubleshoot analyzers and test methods, review quality control values and results. Technologists deftly handle phone inquiries from both internal and external customers, call critical value results, and problem solve pre-analytical issues. All employees work under the direction of the division directors, manager and lead technologists.
Minimum Education Required
4- Year College Degree or higher is required. Degree must emanate from a National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory (NAACLS) accredited program or equivalent. *Note that Medical Laboratory Technicians with an Associate of Science from and appropriate program will also be considered with hire into the title of Med Lab Tech- Testing.
Required Qualifications
Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology with ASCP/AMT, MT or MLS Medical Board Certification is required. *Note that board certification is a condition of employment. If not certified, applicant must obtain MLS certification within 1 year of hire, with first board of certification test attempt within the first six months of hire.

**This position will work a rotating position through Tele Critical Care and IMC ICUs. TCC shifts are 12 hours with IMC ICU shifts being 8 hours. This position is part of a team that covers TCC and the Hospital ICUs from 6am to 11pm. Shifts for this position are part of a rotation that includes weekends, holidays, and swing-shifts.**
Some Tele Critical Care shifts can be done remotely. Intermountain Medical Center shifts must be done on site.
**Essential Functions**
+ Reviews patients' medication order for allergy interactions, duplication of therapy, appropriateness of drug therapy, and drug- drug interaction. Makes appropriate evidence-based interventions to optimize medication use. Ensures safe, appropriate, cost-effective therapies and accurately dispenses medications.
+ Oversees and/or participates in assuring appropriate medications are prepared and delivered timely to care areas and are stored both securely and appropriate for both stability and effective workflow.
+ Provides counseling to patients and promotes quality medication education and adherence. Ensures patient is well informed, treated with respect, and receives the highest level of professional service.
+ Completes all regulatory and compliance training and ensures documentation of regulatory requirements is clear and complete. Is knowledgeable and compliant with state and federal laws, regulations, pharmacy policies, procedures, and standard operating procedures.

Patient acuity, including: Neuro ICU, Surgical ICUs, Medical ICUs (MICU x2), Cardiology/Diagnostics, CVICU, SICU / MICU / NCCU
Float Policy: Nurses are required to float within units of equivalent or lower acuity, Will be required to float to different units within the OSU organization as needed.
Minimum 2 years of ICU experience
Must have: IV Start, Telemetry, Ventilator management experience
Patient Age Groups: Adults
Orientation Hours: 36
Teaching Hospital Experience: Required
There is a strict compliance deadline of Tuesday prior to start – no exceptions.
Please note: All candidates must be made aware of the urgency of the Ohio Fingerprinting process. Candidates must complete fingerprints as soon as they sign contract. Travelers who are unresponsive or uncooperative with credentialing are at risk of push/cancel.
RTO required with submission, must be built into contract
Former employees are eligible for a travel assignment once they have been away from the facility for 6 months or more
Current employees are ineligible to be hired as a traveler at any Ohio State University hospital location
