As a Senior Software Engineer, you will join our Instrument Software team within CRM, developing and maintaining medical technologies that alleviate pain, restore health, and extend life for millions of patients worldwide. You'll work on software applications that interface with Medtronic implantable cardiac devices, programming instruments, and remote patient management systems.
We are looking for highly motivated, self-driven software engineers who are eager to innovate in a fast-paced environment and passionate about improving patients' quality of life. This position is in Mounds View, MN. within the Cardiac Rhythm Management (CRM) Operating Unit. At Medtronic, we bring bold ideas forward with speed and decisiveness to put patients first in everything we do. In-person exchanges are invaluable to our work. We are working on-site 4 days per week as part of our commitment to fostering a culture of professional growth and cross-functional collaboration as we work together to engineer the extraordinary. This role will require less than 10% of travel to enhance collaboration and ensure successful completion of projects.
**A DAY IN THE LIFE:**
In general, the following responsibilities apply for the **Senior Software Engineer** role. This includes, but is not limited to the following:
+ Design, Develop and test software for class I, II and III medical devices.
+ Learn and understand software standards for Medical devices, ex. IEC62304.
+ Define, maintain and implement software requirements and designs and review software developed by other team members.
+ Build prototypes, frameworks, development kits and accelerator systems suitable for engineering evaluations and testing.
+ Participate in process improvement initiatives for the software team. This includes recognizing areas for improvement as well as working with others to develop and document process improvements.
+ Conduct and/or participate in technical reviews of requirements, specifications, designs, code and other engineering artifacts, ensuring timely delivery to meet program commitments.
+ Design, develop, maintain and execute tests including unit, integration and verification testing and create and maintain documentation generated from testing.
+ Provide hands-on leadership, coaching, mentoring, and software engineering best practices to junior software engineers.
+ Develop reusable patterns and encourage innovation that will increase team velocity.
+ Work collaboratively across functions and with internal and external partners to deliver high quality products to the marketplace.

+ Proven proficiency in C/C++ programming

+ Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related technical discipline and a minimum of 4 years of Software Development experience OR a Master's degree with a minimum of 2 years of Software Development experience
**Nice to Have**
+ Mobile application development for iOS and/or Android
+ Proficiency in Java, C#, or Objective-C
+ Experience working with communication interfaces such as BLE and USB etc.
+ Proficient in using debuggers and simulators etc.
+ Experience with cybersecurity solutions including TLS, Certificate Management etc.

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$122,400.00 - $183,600.00
This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).
The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).

JOB SUMMARY

- Gain a thorough understanding of client needs; function as the liaison between the client, Customer Relationship account management team, and our laboratory staff teams; Troubleshoot and head off problems, preventing them from adversely affecting the client.
- Manage the logistics of client projects, ensuring client needs are met in a timely and cost-effective manner, while ensuring the quality of work completed and reported meets or exceeds pre-determined quality standards.
- Efficiently receive and process samples while triaging and prioritizing based on sample and analysis requirements.
- Effectively store and organize all incoming samples that have been processed.
- Maintain sample retention and storage.
- Maintaining organization of samples to be disposed of.
- Prepare and provide sample supplies to customers.
- Maintain and grow overall client satisfaction through collaboratively working with all stakeholders to ensure timely deliverables.
- Coordinate communications and actions between internal departments/functions.
- Monitor the progress of projects and delegate work assignments, as necessary.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Degree in Food Science, Chemistry, or a related field of study; Technical understanding of Food and/or Environmental Testing requirements.
- Food and/or Environmental Testing Laboratory Experience is strongly desired.
- Client service or QA experience preferred.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with both laboratory staff and non-technical individuals.
