Event Security & Crowd Control – Fun, Fast-Paced One-Day Opportunity!
Looking to earn extra cash while working a high-energy event? We’re hiring reliable, upbeat individuals to join our Event Security & Access Control Team for a large-scale event in Brookings, SD on August 28th, 2025. This is a one-day opportunity — and transportation will be provided for those commuting from Sioux Falls. More event details will be shared as the date approaches!
Date & Schedule:
Most team members will be on-site from 4:00 PM to approximately midnight
Some roles may wrap up earlier, around 10:00 PM, depending on event flow
Additional staffing needs may be available before and after the event for load-in/load-out coverage (24/7 rotating shifts) (Additional hours on Wednesday August 27th and Friday August 29th)
Transportation:
Transportation provided from Sioux Falls to Brookings and back
Meet and check in at our Sioux Falls location — we’ll ride together and ensure everyone is prepared
Responsibilities Include:
Access and crowd control
Bag checks and operating metal detectors
Credential verification at designated checkpoints
Monitoring general admission areas for safety concerns or policy violations (e.g., underage drinking)
Reporting and escalating potential issues to supervisors
What You’ll Need:

Program Overview
Weatherspoon Security is proud to announce the launch of the Public Safety Cohort Program, a new employment initiative designed to recruit, train, and inspire the next generation of security professionals. This cohort-based program will welcome 15–20 entry-level candidates into structured, team-oriented hiring and training classes. Participants will begin their journey in part-time security guard roles, with opportunities to advance to full-time employment and career pathways in public safety.
Whether you are just starting your career at 18 years old, or seeking supplemental income during retirement, this program is designed to provide a supportive entry point into the security industry and open the door to broader opportunities in law enforcement, emergency response, and public safety careers.
Key Program Features
- Cohort Hiring Model: Join as part of a group of 15–20 new hires, allowing you to train, learn, and grow together.
- Public Safety Track Training: Receive 40 hours of specialized training covering security fundamentals and core pillars of public safety.
- Part-Time to Full-Time Opportunities: Begin with flexible scheduling and transition into full-time security positions as openings become available.
- Professional Development: Exposure to career pathways in security management, law enforcement, and emergency management.

Position Requirements:
18 years of age or older.
High School Diploma or GED Required.
Standard computer / technology skills needed.
Customer service background preferred.
Must be able to interact with a wide range of individuals in a professional manner.
Must be able to conduct interior and exterior patrols throughout shift.
Must have great attention to detail and have the ability to remain vigilant throughout shift.
Must be comfortable wearing PPE during exterior patrols.
All candidates must be willing to participate in our background check process.
We are looking for dynamic individuals who can provide outstanding customer service, control access for patrons, visitors or vendors as required, monitor CCTV, and conduct patrols to guard against theft and maintain a safe environment.
