Position Overview
Oversee and grow cybersecurity accounts as a delivery executive, managing threat detection and response workstreams while driving proposal development, client delivery, and financial performance. Provide senior leadership to CFC teams, leading large projects, analyzing complex data, and producing high-quality deliverables. Guide the strategy, design, and implementation of advanced cybersecurity services—including security operations, cyber strategy, architecture, threat detection, incident response, and cloud security—across diverse technologies.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee all core CFC functions: Security Operations Center (SOC), Cyber Threat Intelligence (CTI), Detection Engineering, and Attack Surface Management.
- Develop and execute an integrated cyber defense strategy that aligns detection, response, and intelligence-driven operations.
- Serve as the senior point of contact for clients on all cyber defense matters, providing executive-level briefings and strategic recommendations.
- Ensure incident response, threat hunting, and intelligence activities are tightly coordinated to deliver proactive defense against evolving threats.
- Drive the development and refinement of advanced detection engineering capabilities, including custom rules, signatures, and automation playbooks.
- Oversee the monitoring and reduction of client attack surfaces by aligning vulnerability management, asset visibility, and external exposure assessments.
- Manage and mentor senior managers, SOC managers, and analysts across multiple cyber defense functions.
- Establish and maintain metrics, KPIs, and reporting frameworks to measure and communicate program performance to clients and executive leadership.
- Partner with product, engineering, and advisory teams to continuously enhance DeepSeas’ cyber defense offerings.
- Represent the CFC in client business reviews, board-level discussions, and executive strategy sessions.
- Drive innovation in cyber defense through continuous evaluation of emerging technologies, threat intelligence sources, and adversary simulation practices.
Skills Knowledge and Expertise
- 10+ years of experience in cybersecurity with at least 5 years in leadership roles spanning multiple functions (SOC, CTI, IR, vulnerability/attack surface management).
- Deep knowledge of cyber defense frameworks, including MITRE ATT&CK, Cyber Kill Chain, and intelligence-led defense models.
- Proven track record of managing complex, client-facing cybersecurity programs.
- Strong leadership and organizational skills with the ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams across functions.
- Ability to synthesize technical findings into strategic, business-relevant insights for executive audiences.
- Experience with detection engineering and automation at scale.
- Strong understanding of threat intelligence lifecycle and its integration into detection and response.
- Knowledge of attack surface management tools, vulnerability prioritization, and risk reduction strategies.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, comfortable engaging at both operational and board levels.
- Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Advanced certifications preferred (CISSP, CISM, GIAC, OSCP, or equivalent).

The Data Security Analyst will play a critical role in advancing the University of Utah’s research security and IT compliance posture. The Security Data Analyst will provide PKI audit support, security data collection, and cyber incident tracking for the Navy's Communications Security (COMSEC) and Key Management Infrastructure (KMI) Program. This role focuses on managing PKI audit processes, supporting cybersecurity incident reporting, and ensuring compliance with DoD, DON, and Navy cybersecurity requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct PKI Audit events at Navy Registration Authority (RA) and Local Registration Authority (LRA) sites in accordance with JFHQ-DODIN PKI Audit Guidance.
- Collect and analyze audit data from Navy LRA systems and operators to verify compliance with DoD PKI policies and procedures.
- Maintain detailed audit checklists, logs, and audit reports.
- Track Plan of Action and Milestones (POA&M) related to audit findings, ensuring corrective actions are documented and completed.
- Prepare and submit Navy PKI Audit Results Reports, capturing both compliance status and recommendations for remediation.
- Coordinate with Navy sites to schedule audits, provide guidance, and assist in corrective actions during Training and Assist Visits (TAVs).
- Support documentation updates, including audit SOPs and process improvement recommendations.
- Identify, log, and track cybersecurity incidents related to PKI operations, certificate misuse, or insider threat events.
- Coordinate with NCTAMS, DISA, and JFHQ-DODIN for incident reporting and resolution.
- Maintain security incident databases and assist in drafting incident reports in accordance with DoD and DON guidelines.
- Provide data analysis to identify incident trends, PKI vulnerabilities, and areas for process improvement.
- Ensure PKI misuse incidents are captured, analyzed, and escalated appropriately per Navy and DoD cyber incident reporting policies.
- Support incident response documentation and lessons learned analysis for Navy PKI systems.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Assurance, Data Analytics, or related field.
- 3+ years of experience in security data analysis, PKI auditing, or cybersecurity incident management.
- Knowledge of DoD PKI programs, certificate management, and cybersecurity compliance.
- Familiarity with JFHQ-DODIN PKI audit processes and DoD cyber incident reporting requirements.
- Experience maintaining detailed audit records, incident logs, and compliance reports.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) and security data tracking systems.
- Strong analytical, written communication, and report development skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in a DoD RA, LRA, PKI Auditor, or ISSO role.
- Experience with Navy PKI environments, SIPRNet token management, or COMSEC programs.
- Knowledge of ACAS scanning, STIG compliance, and vulnerability management processes.
