• 2 years of experience as a Cytotechnologist
• Qualified applicants MUST have at least 2 years of experience in the Cytotechnologist

- Screen and evaluate any gynecologic and non-gynecologic specimens sent to the laboratory for the determination of possible malignant or related abnormal conditions
- Screening of all liquid based cytology, both manual and imaged, as well as conventional slides
- Perform microscopic evaluation of cytological specimens following laboratory procedures and policies
- Ensure proper documentation of workload recording, including screening and non-screening activities as required by CLIA and laboratory guidelines
- Maintain absolute integrity in the accurate performance and reporting of results
- Meet slide screening requirements as per standard operating procedure
- Finalize testing results into the computer in an accurate and timely manner
- Provide backup for cytology processing and other tasks as needed
- Comply with all safety, infection control and HIPAA policies
Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited college/university
- Successful completion of an accredited Cytology program
- ASCP Cytotechnologist (CT) Certification is required
- Florida Cytotechnologist license is required
- Prior experience working in Cytology is preferred
- ThinPrep and SurePath certifications is a plus
- Must pass slide screening requirements and annual CAP proficiency test
- Demonstrated understanding of Cyto preparation techniques
- Automated and non-automated testing experience is preferred
- Familiarity with laboratory information systems (LIS)
- Ability to work independently or within a team
- Highly organized and strong attention to detail
- Strong communication skills; both written and verbal
- Must be able to pass a standardized color vision screen

Schedule: Monday - Friday; Days 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM

SUMMARY
As a Cytotechnologist, your developed examination and evaluation skills are key factors in identifying disease in gynecologic and non-gynecologic slides, leading to critical discovery for patient care.
Laboratory and pathology services are vital to the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of disease. With convenient patient laboratory service centers, home lab services, expert pathologists and in-hospital diagnostics, we offer the full range of testing services to the communities we serve.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Examines and accurately reports on Gynecologic and Non-gynecologic Cytology specimens.
Updates and maintains cytology report and slide files.
Assists personnel in Cytology FNA procedures.
Has knowledge and ability to assist with cytopreparatory procedures.
Has working knowledge of Cytology Information System.
Interacts with physician offices in obtaining pertinent clinical information and specimen problem solving.
Participates in Continuing Medical Education.
Assists in teaching students from various programs.
Follows all department procedures and protocols.
Recognizes, analyzes problems using scientific methods. Reports issues to supervisor or lead tech
Participates in maintaining department technical readiness to meet regulatory compliance.
Assumes responsibility for channeling essential information to the appropriate personnel.
Supports a positive work environment. Works cooperatively with staff and other departments.
Other tasks and projects as assigned by Division Supervisor.
REQUIRED QUALIFICTIONS:
BS in Cytotechnology or BS in a related Science
New York State Department of Education License or Limited Permit as a Cytotechnologist.
