Basic Qualifications
- 3+ years of analyzing and interpreting data with Redshift, Oracle, NoSQL etc. experience
- Experience with data visualization using Tableau, Quicksight, or similar tools
- Experience with data modeling, warehousing and building ETL pipelines

Position Summary

Position Summary: The Sr. Business Intelligence Analyst at Velocity Risk will join a team of BI Analysts and will partner closely with the product, catastrophe modeling, actuarial, and claims teams to understand their data needs, automate tasks, analyze complex datasets related to catastrophe-exposed commercial property, and deliver insightful reports, interactive dashboards, and advanced analytics.
The ideal candidate will have an inherent drive to solve puzzles and use creativity to resolve complex problems. Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and Maintain BI Solutions: Design, build, deploy, and maintain BI solutions, including interactive dashboards (e.g., Tableau), scorecards, and ad hoc reports that provide clear insights into business performance and risk accumulations.
• Process Improvement and Automation: Identify opportunities throughout the organization to streamline and automate data collection, transformation, reporting, and analytical processes to improve efficiency, reduce manual effort, and accelerate the delivery of insights.
• Data Analysis and Interpretation: Analyze large, complex datasets from diverse sources, including policy administration systems, claims databases, catastrophe modeling outputs (e.g., AIR), and third-party vendor data. Identify trends, patterns, correlations, and opportunities related to underwriting performance, pricing accuracy, loss drivers, market dynamics, and operational efficiency.
• Cross-Team Support: Provide analytical and technical support to the product, catastrophe modeling, actuarial, claims, underwriting, and operations team by developing tools, writing code, building reports, and analyses that enhance risk selection, pricing decisions, and portfolio optimization.
• Data Quality and Integrity: Apply rigorous data validation processes, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and reliability of data used for analysis and reporting. Work proactively with DE and other business units to identify and resolve data anomalies and discrepancies.

Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelors degree, preferably in Business Analytics, Data Science, Statistics, Economics, Computer Science, Actuarial Science, or a related quantitative field. A Master's degree is a strong plus.
• Experience:
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a Business Intelligence Analyst, Data Analyst, or similar role.
  • Experience within the Property & Casualty (P&C) insurance industry is welcomed.
  • Additionally, experience in E&S commercial property and/or catastrophe-exposed risks, is highly desirable.
• Technical Skills:
  • Advanced proficiency in Python and SQL (MSSQL and SnowSQL)
  • Experience with BI platforms such as Tableau (preferred), or Power BI
  • Experience in Sagemaker, Bedrock, or Databricks is a plus
  • Familiarity with catastrophe modeling software outputs (e.g., from RMS, AIR) is a plus.

**Primary Responsibilities**
+ Collects, aggregates, and analyzes complex data from multiple internal and external sources to drive insights into business performance
+ Assists in producing actionable reports that show key performance indicators, identifies areas of improvement for current operations, and displays root cause analysis of problems
+ Enhances data collection procedures to include information that is relevant for building analytic systems
+ Provides reporting solutions and responds to moderately complex ad-hoc report requests
+ Assists business intelligence developers in the design and development of business intelligence reporting tools
+ Serves as an enterprise data liaison for the business unit
+ Assists in the preparation of visual reports/presentations to present analysis to key stakeholders
+ Monitors data and analytics as well as trends within the business to seek opportunities for continuous improvement
+ Partners with the centralized Data Governance team to implement and support data governance and data quality requirements
This position is exempt from timekeeping requirements under the Fair Labor Standards Act and is not eligible for overtime pay.
**Requirements**
+ Bachelor's degree in Business, Computer Science, Information Systems, Finance, Statistics, or related field and four (4) years of experience within the financial services industry
+ Or High School Diploma or GED and eight (8) years of experience within the financial services industry
**Preferences**
+ Prior experience applying statistical skills such as distributions, statistical testing, and regression analysis
+ Prior experience using data visualization tools such as Tableau and QlikView
+ Prior experience using relational databases such as SQL and Oracle
+ Prior experience using query development, scripting, and programming skills such as Excel Power Pivot and Dax
+ Prior experience in a data and analytics field

+ Ability to clearly articulate complex concepts, features, and benefits of analyses to any audience
+ Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)
+ Strong verbal, written communication, and organizational skills
+ Strong work ethic and self-motivation
**Additional Job Description**
+ Strong SQL skills required
+ Prior experience using Python and SAS preferred
+ Prior experience using data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI required
+ Snowflake experience a bonus

+ Highly motivated, innovative, and strategic thinker who can execute in a fast-paced environment
_This position is intended to be onsite, now or in the near future. Associates will have regular work hours, including full days in the office three or more days a week. The manager will set the work schedule for this position, including in-office_ _expectations. Regions_ _will not provide relocation assistance for this position, and relocation would be at your expense. This position must be within a reasonable driving distance to a Branch, Consumer Operations, or Professional Office Building with the primary locations being for_ **_Birmingham, AL, Atlanta, GA, Nashville, TN, or Charlotte, NC._** _Exceptions to the geographic location requirement may be made for current Regions associates who work remotely._
