NRDC is seeking a Data Management Specialist to work with the Development team in our New York office.
Position Summary
This position reports to the Director of Data Management and will be crucial as a part of a cross-functional team. The Specialist will join the Data Management team to continue providing Salesforce support to the 100+ member Development Department. The Specialist will focus on NRDCs direct response marketing audience segmentation - working closely with stakeholders to define and carryout complex selects.

Responsibilities- Partner with internal and external stakeholders to analyze and segment donor populations for targeted fundraising campaigns including, but not limited to, direct response fundraising, advocacy, and stewardship communications.
- Manage the integration of data findings into campaign planning and execution.
- Lead the Direct Mail audience segmentation workflow.
- Coordinate with other departments to ensure alignment on campaign targets and data usage.
- Develop and prepare reporting solutions, including both standard and ad-hoc reports as requested by Development, management, trustees and others as needed.
- Own the end-to-end segmentation process: identify opportunities, provide recommendations, and carry out initiatives to improve processes, implement automations to realize business efficiencies.
- Liaise between users on the Development team and the IT Data Infrastructure team and other departments to integrate donor data and fundraising processes with related systems and platforms.
- Assist with maintaining the functional areas of data management and hygiene, accounts, contacts, campaigns, donations, dashboards, and reports.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree is required
- 4-7 years of previous work experience
- Experience in writing and optimizing SQL queries using Enterprise databases like PostgreSQL, SQL Server required
- Experience in Enterprise Data Warehouse like Snowflake
- Salesforce experience required and administrator certification preferred
- Advanced Excel expertise required, Power Query experience preferred
- Tableau experience preferred

Job Summary:
The Data Management Specialist will support the management, administration, and optimization of the company's data infrastructure, with a focus on cloud services, database management, data analysis, and reporting solutions.
This role involves hands-on work with Azure, SQL Server, Power BI, and Apache Tomcat as well as utilizing R Studio and Data Bricks for data analysis and modeling.
The position requires technical proficiency and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively on various data-related projects.
Key Responsibilities:
• Administer and support Azure cloud resources, including Azure SQL Database, Blob Storage, and Azure Data Lake, ensuring optimal functionality and performance.
• Manage and configure Azure-based solutions for data storage, security, and access control.
• Implement automation scripts for managing and provisioning Azure resources using Azure CLI and PowerShell.
• Monitor and optimize SQL Server instances for efficiency and reliability.
• Perform database backups, restore operations, and ensure database integrity.
• Assist with migrations and upgrades of SQL Server environments to cloud-based platforms (Azure SQL).
• Assist in the deployment and maintenance of applications using Apache Tomcat.
• Ensure Apache Tomcat servers are running optimally and troubleshoot any issues that arise.
• Contribute to the development of Data Bricks pipelines, helping to implement data transformation and data engineering processes.
• Work with data teams to build scalable ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes using Azure Databricks.
• Create and maintain Power BI reports, dashboards, and data visualizations that provide actionable insights to business teams.
• Collaborate with business users to understand their reporting needs and design intuitive visualizations that help with data-driven decision-making.
• Use R Studio for data analysis, statistical modeling, and generating insights from large datasets.
• Work with the data science team to build predictive models and statistical reports that meet business needs.
• Document processes, workflows, and configurations to ensure consistent and effective data management practices.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Management, or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience working in data management, with hands-on experience in Azure, SQL Server, Power BI, Apache Tomcat, R Studio, and Data Bricks.
• Proficient in Azure Administration, including Azure SQL Database, Azure Blob Storage, and Azure Data Lake.
• Strong knowledge of SQL Server Database Administration, including performance tuning, backups, and restores.
• Experience working with Apache Tomcat for application deployments and integration.
• Practical experience with Power BI for report creation, dashboards, and data visualization.
• Proficiency in R Studio for data analysis and statistical modeling.
• Basic experience with Azure Databricks for data engineering and big data processing workflows.
• Ability to troubleshoot and resolve data management issues effectively.
• Strong teamwork abilities, with the capacity to communicate technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
Desirable Skills:
• Experience with Azure DevOps for continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD) in data management projects.

PURPOSE: Manage data transfers between Frontage and clients and internal reporting from data systems, per company SOPs and relevant regulations and requirements.
Frontage Laboratories Inc. is an award winning, full-service, CRO/Contract Research Organization operating over 25 state-of-the-art laboratories across the US, Canada and China. Our core competencies include drug metabolism, pharmacokinetics/ pharmacodynamics (PK/PD), safety and toxicology, bioanalytical services, chemistry and manufacturing controls for drug development, and core laboratory services for clinical trials.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Participate in project meetings to understand study protocol and capture clinical trial data elements that we need to capture in our system, particularly those that will need to be reported internally and transferred to our clients.
- Work with LIS Application Specialist to make sure those data elements are setup correctly in the system.
- Work with Project Managers and clients to create Data Transfer Agreement (DTA).
- Build and maintain data management templates for internal reporting and external transfer.
- Create process to generate project-specific export of data from or import data to LIS/LIMS and other systems.
- Work with Quality Assurance to make sure data accuracy in reports and data transfer.
- Ensure the data transfers are carried out according to the corresponding agreements in a timely manner.
- Assist with development of departmental data management procedures and ensure compliance with relevant regulations and requirements (HIPAA, GDPR, GCP, GLP, CAP, CLIA, etc.) in conjunction with QA and laboratory management.
- Other tasks as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in the STEM field or equivalent work experience.
- At least one year of clinical data management or equivalent work experience.
- Good skills with office software such as Word, Excel Formula & Power Query, etc.
- Knowledge or experience of SQL is a great plus.
