The Job At-A-Glance:
Q2 is seeking a Data Migration Engineer that will join an existing data migration team that's responsible for converting the client's online banking data from their legacy system onto the Q2 platform. Additionally, the team is responsible for handling user data involved in mergers and acquisitions. The candidate will leverage proprietary Python/SQL framework to accomplish these activities. The Analyst will follow the Q2 standard Data Migration Process to analyze incoming data sets, work with clients to determine requirements and customizations, and design/create the Python/SQL code to successfully convert the client's data onto the Q2 Platform.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and operate Python based tools, converting Online Banking data from flat files to relational databases based on specifications provided by Business Analysts.
- Troubleshoot and resolve client's data migration issues of a complex nature.
- Thoroughly document and track production environment modifications.
- Work individually and collaboratively to deliver solutions in live production systems
- Establish relationships with other partner teams that impact technical support including Implementation Teams, Data Center Operations, QA, and Development.
- Follow internal change control processes to implement any required production modifications.
- Responsible for ensuring that all security, availability, confidentiality and privacy policies and controls are adhered to.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
- Typically requires a Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of related experience
- Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills required
- Previous data migration experience
- Keen attention to detail while keeping an eye toward the big picture
- Availability to work occasional weekends or late night / early morning is required
- Enterprise/mid-sized software delivery experience preferred
- Understanding of remote tools and networking required
- Ability to deal with ambiguity, tight timelines and demanding constraints
- Ability to work on multiple assignments, prioritize, and resolve issues in a timely manner within a high-pressure environment
- Innate desire to find the root cause of technical issues, while balancing business needs to identify, support, and solve customer needs
- Knowledge of banking practices is helpful
This position requires fluent written and oral communication in English.

Position Summary
A Virtuous Data Migration Engineer will be in charge of extracting, mapping, formatting, and importing client data from legacy systems to Virtuous for our biggest and most sophisticated nonprofit customers. Common legacy systems include but are not limited to Blackbaud Raiser's Edge, eTapestry, Salesforce, DonorPerfect, etc.
They must understand data structure, determine data relationships and become a Virtuous expert to properly map data into the most strategic areas within Virtuous. Virtuous Data Migration Engineers manage migrations that are most often seen as complex and custom, without a predetermined mapping structure.This role requires proficient knowledge of SQL and relational databases.
Exceptional time management, organization, and the ability to work with a project manager to set and meet deadlines is a necessity. This is a customer facing role with an average of 6-12 hours of customer facing time per week. Oftentimes customers will be organizational leaders and will require professional communication skills.
This role, though collaborative, will require a self driven individual who is extremely detail oriented and is comfortable problem solving complex data issues and integrating small details with higher-level customer data strategy. Must have an aptitude for learning software and innovation.
In this role you will.
- Understand the varying needs of nonprofits, and how to migrate associated fundraising data to Virtuous in line with best practices
- Get excited about mapping, joining, transforming and cleaning large, complex data sets using ETL tools with an emphasis on SQL
- Feel comfortable scoping complex migrations with our nonprofit customers during and/or post sale to help determine an implementation project plan
- Collaborate with our internal team on data migration strategy, tooling, and questions
- 4+ years of experience working in Data Migration and/or a SQL / dbt environment

You will report directly to our Director, and you will work out of our Charlotte, NC or Phoenix, AZ or Atlanta, GA location on a Hybrid work schedule.
Hybrid Work Schedule Note: For the first 90 days, New Hires must be prepared to work 100% onsite M-F.
In this role, you will have a significant impact on our data management practices, ensuring that our data assets are well-managed, compliant with regulations, and aligned with business objectives. Your work will contribute to improving operational efficiency, enhancing customer experiences, and driving business growth.
**Key Responsibilities**
+ Coordinating with business IT and Business System Analysts of all functional areas to design a plan for data extraction, data rationalization, data cleansing and support documentation.
+ Help define data validation requirements and document the process for validation using various data extraction tools from SAP like Queries, Power Connect, SAP tables, SAP transaction codes.
+ Ensure strategy and execution of data conversion is consistent with defined controls and procedures.
+ Data conversions through LSMW for data uploading of Master and Transactional Data for Aero Sites.
+ Leading scoping//mapping/migration and design sessions for data conversions.
+ Created high level data conversion plan to migrate Modules tasks.
+ Working with SAP Functional Consultants to understand SAP configuration and related SAP data requirements.
+ Communicating the data conversion status to project management team through status calls, steering committee meetings.
+ Ensure SOX related documentation for Functional Specifications, Data Mapping, Approval of Functional specification / Data mapping, Validation process, Actual Validation completion, Progress Approvals from DEV to QA to PROD.

What you Will do
- Oversee all implementation projects data execution of all data components of an implementation project.
- Develop and implement best practices, procedures, project plans, timelines, and risk mitigation strategies
- Coordinate and facilitate internal collaboration to elevate delivery of data quality with implementation, development, product, and QA.
- Track progress of deliverables, proactively managing timelines and data quality.
- Ensure documentation, handoffs, transitions, training, and staff skillset development of the data team (2).
- Perform data conversions for new customer implementations as well as a variety of data-related tasks for new and existing customers
- Resolve data conversion tickets, as required, to ensure project progress on schedule.
- Working Closely with the Project Manager and Implementation team to ensure client data is transferred as accurately and fully as reasonably possible
- Develop data mapping documentation and time estimates for data conversion projects
- Subject matter expert on the functionality of the software related to the data structure and data requirements
Requirements
What you Will Need to Succeed
- Bachelor's degree or diploma in computer science, engineering, computer information science, information technology, or a related field.
- 4+ years of experience in data implementation, technical project coordination, or a related role
- Strong understanding of data systems, APIs, ETL processes, and integration methodologies.
- Proven ability to lead complex technical projects without direct authority over team members.
- Previous experience in C# and Python is considered a strong asset
- Expert or advanced skills in MS-SQL
- Familiarity with tools like JIRA, Asana, Confluence, or similar project and documentation platforms.
- Ability to write data conversion scripts and perform complex queries
- Excellent troubleshooting skills and analytical thinking to resolve issues
- Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications and SQL database management systems
