**Responsibilities include but are not limited to:**

We are seeking a Data Modeler who is passionate about data and its lifecycle and structure. The ideal candidate will balance business acumen with deep expertise in conceptual, logical, and physical data modeling, translating business requirements into robust data models. The role is based in Cary, NC, Tampa, FL or, NY, NY and supports MetLife's commitment to data-driven decision-making and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
* Translate business requirements into scalable data model designs and production-grade data and analytics solutions.
* Design and maintain logical and physical data models to support business and analytics needs.
* Ensure data model consistency, integrity, and adherence to best practices.
* Develop and optimize dimensional data models for performance, scalability, and deployment in on-prem and cloud environments (Azure Synapse, Databricks).
* Perform data profiling and validation to ensure model accuracy and completeness.
* Build and maintain data dictionaries, metadata repositories, and ER diagrams.
* Mentor junior Data Modelers, review their work deliverables, and provide people leadership: coach, develop, and engage talent.
* Independently lead design, solutioning, and estimation.
* Solve complex business problems using data and advanced technologies.
* Collaborate with partners from Business, Technology, Operations, and D&A capabilities (Data Governance, Data Quality, Data Modeling, Data Architecture, Data Science, DevOps, BI & Insights).
Required Skills:
* 8-10+ years of relevant experience in data modeling building common data model, preferably in financial or insurance settings.
* Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or equivalent educational qualification.
* Excellent communication, analytical, and structured problem-solving skills.
* Experience in partner and stakeholder engagement.
* Technical proficiency in data modeling tools
* Experience with dimensional modeling (examples include 3NF, star schema, snowflake), relational databases (SQL, Oracle), and cloud platforms (examples include Azure Synapse, Databricks, Cosmos DB).
* Designing models for ETL and analytics workflows, API design and ingestion (examples include REST, SOAP, JSON, XML).
* Normalization, denormalization principles, and performance tuning techniques.
