What You'll Do

As a Cybersecurity Senior Consultant at BCG TDA/Platinion, you will work with BCG clients to protect organizations’ most valuable digital, intellectual, and human assets against malicious attacks and fatal errors. In this role, you will apply your sound technical expertise, understanding of business contexts, and analytical skills to enable organizations’ security priorities—while embedding robust data privacy practices across strategic and technology engagements. You will help strategize and design solutions that not only safeguard sensitive information but also build customer trust and ensure compliance with evolving data protection standards. You will also work in multidisciplinary teams to help businesses improve their products and create market growth strategies through secure, privacy-respecting innovation.

What You'll Bring

  • 4+ years of professional experience in the execution and management of technology (Prior experience at a consulting organization is highly preferred)
  • BS in mathematics, natural sciences, information technology, business management, or similar degree

  • CISSP, CIPP/E, CIPP/US preferred

  • Hands-on experience with, or extensive knowledge of some of the following:
    • Developing cybersecurity and/or data governance strategies or policies
    • Managing cybersecurity and data privacy risk
    • Designing, transforming, implementing, and running cybersecurity and data governance programs
    • Implementing integrated risk management solutions
    • Delivering cybersecurity and data privacy. culture change, awareness, and training
    • Designing / implementing business resilience programs

Description and Requirements

Job Responsibilities

1. Backup Solutions Management
1)Design, deploy, and maintain data backup strategies using NetBackup and Commvault software, leveraging your 2+ years of experience. Ensure regular and reliable backups of critical business data across various systems.
2)Monitor backup jobs, troubleshoot failures, and optimize backup performance.
2. Database Operation
1)With 2+ years of database operation and maintenance experience (in Oracle, MongoDB, or Redis; better if proficient in multiple), perform day-to-day administrative tasks. This includes user management, permission allocation, and schema management to ensure data security and integrity within the database environment.
2)Analyze database performance metrics, identify bottlenecks, and implement tuning strategies. Optimize query execution plans, index management, and resource allocation to enhance database response times and throughput.
3)Continuously monitor the health of databases, including disk space utilization, memory usage, and transaction logs. Proactively identify and address potential issues such as disk full warnings or abnormal resource consumption to prevent service disruptions.
4)Plan, test, and execute database version upgrades and security patch installations. Ensure that upgrades are seamless and do not impact ongoing business operations, while keeping the database environment secure and up-to-date.
3. Disaster Recovery (DR) Initiatives
1)Develop, test, and maintain disaster recovery plans. Ensure that data protection strategies align with DR objectives for business continuity.
2)Participate in the company's annual BCDR (Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery) drills in the US. Be responsible for pre - drill communication, including coordinating with relevant departments to confirm roles, timelines, and requirements. During the drills, track every detail, such as the execution status of recovery procedures, identification of bottlenecks, and compliance with predefined processes. After the drills, summarize findings and contribute to updating DR plans based on lessons learned.
3)Update DR plans regularly based on changes in the IT environment, new business requirements, and insights from BCDR drills.
4. Collaboration and Support
1)Work closely with cross-functional teams, including OS team, network team, and application team, to ensure end-to-end data protection.
2)Provide technical support for data protection-related issues, participating in on-call as needed to address urgent problems.

Job Requirements

Technical Skills
1) 2+ years of proficiency in NetBackup and Commvault data backup and recovery software

2) At least 2+ years of solid understanding of database operation and maintenance (Oracle, MongoDB, or Redis; multiple is a plus), with experience in database backup/restore operations.

3)Knowledge of disaster recovery principles and best practices.

Job Responsibilities

Backup Solutions Management

  • Design, deploy, and maintain data backup strategies using NetBackup and Commvault software, leveraging your 2+ years of experience.

  • Ensure regular and reliable backups of critical business data across various systems.

  • Monitor backup jobs, troubleshoot failures, and optimize backup performance.

Database Operation

  • 2+ years of database operation and maintenance experience (in Oracle, MongoDB, or Redis; better if proficient in multiple), perform day-to-day administrative tasks. This includes user management, permission allocation, and schema management to ensure data security and integrity within the database environment.

  • Analyze database performance metrics, identify bottlenecks, and implement tuning strategies. Optimize query execution plans, index management, and resource allocation to enhance database response times and throughput.

  • Continuously monitor the health of databases, including disk space utilization, memory usage, and transaction logs. Proactively identify and address potential issues such as disk full warnings or abnormal resource consumption to prevent service disruptions.

  • Plan, test, and execute database version upgrades and security patch installations. Ensure that upgrades are seamless and do not impact ongoing business operations, while keeping the database environment secure and up-to-date.

Disaster Recovery (DR) Initiatives

  • Develop, test, and maintain disaster recovery plans. Ensure that data protection strategies align with DR objectives for business continuity.

  • Participate in the company's annual BCDR (Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery) drills in the US. Be responsible for pre - drill communication, including coordinating with relevant departments to confirm roles, timelines, and requirements. During the drills, track every detail, such as the execution status of recovery procedures, identification of bottlenecks, and compliance with predefined processes. After the drills, summarize findings and contribute to updating DR plans based on lessons learned.

  • Update DR plans regularly based on changes in the IT environment, new business requirements, and insights from BCDR drills.

Technical Skills Required

  1. 2+ years of proficiency in NetBackup and Commvault data backup and recovery software

  2. At least 2+ years of solid understanding of database operation and maintenance (Oracle, MongoDB, or Redis; multiple is a plus), with experience in database backup/restore operations.

  3. Knowledge of disaster recovery principles and best practices.

JOB DESCRIPTION: The Data Protection Engineer will enhance cybersecurity posture by focusing on tactical data protection operations, automation, and tool development to safeguard sensitive information. This role will prioritize securing email systems, endpoints, and other critical platforms while driving proactive data protection strategies aligned with client's cybersecurity objectives.

QUALIFICATIONS
