About the Role

The Company is in search of a Head of Data Science to lead its AI/ML-powered document redaction solutions. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on leader with a strong background in production-grade NLP and PDF processing, particularly in the areas of PII detection and Named Entity Recognition. Experience in a lean environment and the ability to scale a small data science team while actively contributing to the build process are essential. The role involves inheriting one team member and gradually expanding the team, so a collaborative and execution-oriented mindset is a must. Key responsibilities for the Head of Data Science include bringing models to market, continuously optimizing them in real-world settings, and having a strong focus on MLOps. While experience with SageMaker is preferred, it is not required, as the learning curve is considered manageable. The successful candidate will be expected to have a startup mindset, be scrappy, and be comfortable working in production environments. Python fluency is a given, and the ability to work with a small team to deliver high-quality, customer-facing solutions is a critical aspect of the role.

Reports To: Manager, Data Science

Status: Hourly, Non-exempt

Timeline: Preference will be given to candidates who can start by March 1, 2026 or sooner, and work through mid-October 2026.

Primary Objective: Responsible for supporting all areas of baseball operations through baseball-related data science, including statistical modeling, research, visualizations, and other projects.

Essential Functions:

• Statistical modeling and analysis of a variety of data sources including Trackman, Hawkeye, and proprietary data sets.
• Ad hoc queries and quantitative research.
• Will perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor's degree preferred. Public research and work experience may be considered in lieu of education requirements if approved by management.
• A strong foundation in mathematics, statistics, computer science, and/or engineering required.
• Proficiency in programming with either R, Python or Julia required.
• Proficiency with SQL preferred.
• Track record of original baseball research preferred.
• Experience building and interpreting predictive models preferred.

This Opportunity
Provides support to technical staff, engineers, and project managers for collecting, interpreting, publishing, and warehousing of data for project numbers, market research, logistics, aggregation, and extracting meaning. Tasks may include basic assistance with research and providing information and analysis as it applies to finances, productivity, sales, clients, forecasting knowledge, industry behavior and trends, and/or business decisions. Your Impact
+ With minimal supervision, assist with sourcing, collecting, compiling, and analyzing structured and unstructured data from the field work, surveys, blueprints, spreadsheets, financial reports, computer-generated reports, and other matrices and disparate sources.
+ Perform basic professional data scientist work with identifying the data-analytics problems that offer the greatest opportunities to the task or project.
+ Assist with the development of technologies, modeling techniques, load/pricing calculations, new experimental frameworks, and analytical strategies to devise and apply models and algorithms to mine stores of big data, identify patterns and trends, and discover future-ready solutions and opportunities.
+ Work with cross-functional teams in executing project work for internal and external clients, assisting technical staff and project managers with risk identification and assessment, offering input, analysis, and actionable results.

Who You Are
**Required Qualifications**
+ Bachelor's Degree in Math, Data Analysis, Accounting, Finance or related field.
+ 1 to 3 years of relevant post education experience working as a data scientist/analyst.
+ Familiarity with business intelligence tools (e.g. Tableau), and big data technologies (e.g. Hadoop, Spark).
+ Familiarity with computer programing databases, coding and testing (e.g. SQL).
+ Familiarity with data management practices, performing exploratory data analysis, and employing research techniques.

As a Principal Data Science Security Engineer, you will be part of UKG's Global Security Detection Engineering team. This global team is responsible for detecting and responding to sophisticated cyber threats and attacks. In your role you will leverage a variety of tools and resources to proactively detect, investigate, and respond to emerging and/or persistent threats impacting UKG and/or its customers.

Responsibilities:

• Assist with the development of a multi agent AI system leveraging current industry knowledge around AI Engineering

• Researching, developing, implementing, and managing data-driven algorithms, AI/ML techniques, & classical statistics for threat detection, behavior analytics, vulnerability assessment, prediction, and prevention

• Communicating complex data findings, model predictions, and the implications to non-technical stakeholders using reports and visualizations

• Staying abreast of the latest research, developments, experimentations, and products in the AI/ML and cybersecurity landscapes to identify new opportunities

• You will be providing hands-on solutions, customization and tuning, automation, and use case development for the SIEM, SOAR, and other stakeholder requirements for threat informed defense strategies

• You will support leading production level projects to completion as a contributor and a collaborator between multiple stakeholder teams including the Security Operations Center (SOC), Threat Intelligence, Incident Response, and Incident Response

• You will be working on a globally distributed team and expected to create and present strategies, technical plans, and architecture to audiences of technical and executive leadership levels when asked.

• You will also maintain existing internal code, use cases, and further extend SIEM and SOAR integrations aligned to the Detection Engineering program efforts

• You will design and engineer Security Operations focused integrations and automations including diagrams, documentation, and threat modeling of what is built

• You will support the Director of Detection Engineering in directly enhancing the strategic capabilities of the program through complex technical projects

Basic Qualifications:

• Experience with AI Engineering & LLMOps, beyond prompt engineering, to include tuning & training language models, model selection criteria, agent design, eval systems, pipelines, RAG, custom embeddings, and monitoring

• Experience with creating large datasets (Big Query/ Big Lake) and knowledge graphs

• 5+ years of working experience with the Data Science Lifecycle, MLOps workflows & tools, and the python data science stack, with a proven track record of leading significant data science projects from conception to deployment

• 8+ years of security and hands on technical automation experience, with 5 or more of those years focused on creating use cases and detection focused automation (can substitute years of security experience with data science experience and vice versa)

• 5+ years of operational experience working directly with or in security operational teams including: SOC, Threat Intelligence, and Incident Response

• The ability to lead complex projects, other team members, and support building strategic and technical initiatives

• Deep understanding of SOC, SIEM, and other engineering best practices, limitations, and ways of extending or customizing threat detection automation related use cases

• Demonstratable hands-on skills in a major scripting/programming language or a search query language for use in security operations and threat detection

• Splunk Cloud ES and Splunk SOAR (Phantom) Experience highly preferred

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with a major public cloud service provider (CSP) preferred

The pay range for this position is $159,900.00- $229,800.00, however, base pay offered may vary depending on skills, experience, job-related knowledge and location. What you'll do
+ Lead a team of data scientists focused on optimizing ad ranking, auction dynamics, and marketplace efficiency to maximize advertiser value and Snapchatter experience

Minimum Requirements

Compensation
In the United States, work locations are assigned a pay zone which determines the salary range for the position. The successful candidate's starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. The starting pay may be negotiable within the salary range for the position. These pay zones may be modified in the future.
Zone A (CA, WA, NYC) ( :
The base salary range for this position is $229,000-$43,000 annually.
Zone B ( :
The base salary range for this position is 218,000- 326,000 annually.
Zone C ( :
The base salary range for this position is 195,000- 292,000 annually.
